Latest Version 4.18.4842 (with Monitor)
Andavari replied to darkrats's topic in CCleaner Suggestions
Realise they are wise to occassionaly add features to keep some users happy and using the product that have requested a valid feature, especially when another freeware rival product already has the capabilities in their free version. If they don't add features a rival product has to be competitive they'd run the risk of losing those users (who could also become potential future customers to their commercial versions of the software) to a rival product. -
I can't replicate it on this old XP system of mine on any of the tabs available, it works correctly for me.

I've noticed a slowdown for years on my USB thumb drives. What I've always did is copy the contents to the desktop into a new folder, format the USB thumb drive, and finally copy everything back onto it.

Winapp2's first child!

If you can, can you give him the link to this forum topic? If so he'll know that he can get free help in removing the malware from his computer. And if/when he reads this topic for malware removal read forum rule #10 here, it has links to sites/forums that do one-on-one free malware removal and cleaning. ------------- As far as CCleaner downloaded from the official Piriform.com website installing malware it does not. The only 3rd party components it has ever included if someone downloads the Standard Build is software from Google which can be unticked/disabled/opt-out during installation.

After you get your system up and running just the way you want it I'd highly recommend you look into a disk imaging software, there's both freeware and commercial. Often on the forums we recommend Macrium Reflect Free Edition (due to its ease of use), however there's also others.

@mta: A moderator has already notified the admin about him using his email address, it will be changed by the admin to a non-email member name, and the member will be notified of the change. --------------------- @jessejp79: Possibly the settings have went bad - it's happened to people before. There's two ways to redo the settings (note you'll have to re-configure CCleaner from scratch to your preferred settings): 1. Open CCleaner, Click: Options > Advanced > Restore default settings -or if the above doesn't work- 2. Uninstall CCleaner, Download CCleaner, and do a fresh installation.
-
You'd need to do what mta stated for every program you have installed that CCleaner can clean which you want to keep the MRU ("Recent Files List") intact, for example; WordPad, your installed PDF viewer, etc.

Perhaps try using a recent Restore Point to undo changes. Also if you used CCleaner's registry cleaner and allowed it to create the backups it suggests you can use the .reg backup files to undo changes.

AVG Internet Security 2014- Are they going to add it?
Andavari replied to minmn's topic in CCleaner Suggestions
In order to properly clean some AVs those with a configuration box that allows their self-protection to be disabled would have to be temporarily disabled. Months ago I tried AVG 2014 (their free antivirus) and had no issues cleaning it. -
I'm sure they paid someone allot of money to mess it up.
-
The registry cleaner already has this ability, it's the last item in the list of what it cleans.

Perhaps call the computer manufacturer for support.

My Win98 Dell machine back in 1998 came with 128MB RAM by default, but even that wasn't enough. Basically I maxed out the memory of that old system to 384MB RAM and dabbled with the swapfile size on it to only return it to default values and let Windows manage it. Those old Win9x systems had a cache issue right out of the gate and needed some simple system .INI file tweaking to make them not BSOD as much and that was regardless of the amount of RAM installed. That's why programs like Cacheman were so popular back then, but what most people didn't know was they could've edited a system .INI to the same effect.

Better UI : more space for the defragmentation map

This I have to agree with 100%. It is too small! -
Windows Registry - clearing unused network & printer profiles
Andavari replied to sirald66's topic in CCleaner Suggestions
Exactly. And if CCleaner had such abilities it would probably have to be manually done by the user through CCleaner like how Startups are dealt with. If CCleaner was to automatically deal with them automatically I'd expect the forum to explode with angry posts and rightfully so. -
I buy the CCleaner Pro but made a mistake with my E-Mail
Andavari replied to Kampfregenwurm's topic in CCleaner
You're entitled to use the support from Piriform.com after all you bought a license. Just tell them the e-mail address you gave was wrong and I'm sure they'll work with you. -
@JayBox12345 Your original topic is here: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=41772 A topic title that reads "Help Please" is too generic and doesn't give much info about the topic (as per forum rule 8), which was why I edited your original topic title by adding onto it "[Drive Wiper]" since that's what the topic is about.

Wiping free spaces on other than C-drive
Andavari replied to John Grey's topic in CCleaner Bug Reporting
Either before or after enabling Wipe Free Space in the Settings, you'd also have to enable/tick the box named 'Wipe Free Space' located under the large Cleaner button and in 'Windows > Advanced', otherwise it won't work See screenshot: Remember to disable/untick that box once Wipe Free Space is complete, otherwise it will always run. Also see: https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/wiping-free-disk-space -

Probably only if it were a service, which Recuva isn't and doesn't operate without user interaction.
