  1. Download the newest version at: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  2. The Portable Build (the zip you said you prefer) allows you to input your license key in: Options > About, and then click Upgrade To Pro
  3. I'm not the one to ring in on it unfortunately, I haven't used it for several years because of the mild headaches it induced and I've since moved on to other video editing programs. Here's another freeware all-in-one video tool I've used within the last year, can't remember why I removed it though: Video To Video Portable - http://www.videotovideo.org/download/
  4. You can not wipe a drive that Windows is installed on, you can only do a Wipe Free Space -- which leaves the operating system and existing files. See here: https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/wiping-free-disk-space
  5. Using /AUTO works correctly for me. I'm thinking you guys might still have the registry startup for Active Monitoring in the registry from the previous buggy 4.18 version. To check navigate in the registry to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Edit: Or if you've downloaded the bug fix 4.18 version read post #1 here to learn how to turn-off the monitoring via CCleaner itself: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=41860
  6. Download available at: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  7. Where did you download CCleaner from? Often when people go to a download site instead of Piriform.com they can very easily get tricked into clicking the wrong thing such as an advertisement banner that says 'Download' on it which has absolutely nothing to do with the actual CCleaner download. Also when not downloading from Piriform.com you could end up with a fake/rip-off version which could contain adware and malware.
  8. It's nowhere near bloatware, there's other cleaning tools 4x bigger once installed. Plus if you don't like the .exe filesize you could always compress it with UPX.
  9. Hard to tell what's causing it in normal mode, something like a driver or some other resident software.
  10. Some of them will give you a headache, but you have to learn them and have those oh wow moments. Many have a learning curve! In my opinion a commerical/paid-for one isn't even necessary for regular end-users/home-users. The commercial variety will often use the exact same GNU GPL free backend programs found on SourceForge.net that the freeware and open source variety use. In other words you could end up spending money on a really buggy p.o.s.! Just listing what I use most often: * Avidemux (works with many formats, an all-in-one video tool): http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/ * Audacity Portable (audio editor, you will need an audio editor if wanting to mess with the audio volume, etc., as an editable .WAV file): http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/audacity_portable If you have an MP4 video file that video editing software will have nothing to do with there's a trick I learned which was to convert it into DVD Video format using DVD Flick. After that I could use a video encoder to convert it into what I want - note/warning doing this turns HD video into SD video. I'd recommend bookmarking these sites (they helped me so much for learning video editing a few years ago when DennisD introduced it to me), for me they're both indespensible with guides, downloads, etc.: http://www.digital-digest.com/ http://www.videohelp.com/
  11. The download just worked fine for me too.
  12. You run the risk of getting a fake version or one with a malware wrapper containing it when downloading it "elsewhere". The link in post #1 of this topic is legit, and I'll only ever download it from Piriform.
  13. As the topic title reads: SpywareBlaster database updated

    Highly frustrated

If you bought a professional license you're entitled to help from the support listed at Piriform.com. If you're a free user of the free edition you can get help on the forums, and realise help on the forums is from other users i.e.; the community.
  15. Forgot about that. Yeah it could've prevented it with the warning dialog that blocks the loading of a bad site, that is if it recognized the site as bad.

    SmartPC fix

Makes me think users should band together with money to produce a 30 seconds Malwarebytes Anti-Malware T.V. advertisement, for something that actually works.
  17. Welcome to the forums. Thank you for posting your findings, it could save someone from clicking the wrong thing.
  18. Hopefully this actually fixes it, I'll update either later today or tomorrow - well after I see peoples comments on it.
  19. Usually if there's been problems in the past and there have been however nothing as in our face as this new bug it usually gets fixed silently without them saying much.
  20. It comes back to life because it doesn't change the monitoring settings to off, made evident if using a ccleaner.ini file. For people that don't want to fiddle with editing their registry to turn it off, I've made this: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=41851
  21. Saw that on the news this morning. Also saw how easily bent out of shape the plastic gets if someone puts it in their pant pockets.
  22. I've went back as well ("downgraded") but only because I use the portable version. In the portable version I feel it should be a greyed out and non-functioning feature hence it's supposed to be portable.

    SmartPC fix

I keep seeing some questionable possibly useless or rogue cleaners on T.V., yet I'm as of yet (as in never) to see any legit security products shown on T.V.
