  1. Try going to Control Panel>System>Advanced>Performance Settings. Under the 'Visual Effects' tab tick 'Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop'
  2. Ok stop now. First you have one of the most stylish wallpapers I've seen (and subsequently you are good enough to let me have). NOW you've got a Rammstein start button!!! Can I just have your computer (Though I think the GF would disown me if I changed our PCs start button to that )
  3. Think you misread the thread
  4. So the correct entry for EmanNV to add to winapp2.ini should(?) be: [OpenOffice 2.1] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKCU\SOFTWARE\OpenOffice.org\OpenOffice.org\2.1 Default=True FileKey1=%appdata%\OpenOffice.org2\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Common.xcu
  5. Prefer this one: Animator Vs Animation And the sequel
  6. With it being a Mozilla suggested fix I wouldn't think so (wouldn't be surprised if the official fix just does the same thing)

    Issues

Also it sometimes takes 2-4 issues cleans to get rid of them all, especially if there's lots of them, so try running the issues cleaner a few times and see if they all go. Otherwise try Hazels suggestion (which should be the solution if you're seeing the exact same entries appearing all the time)

    start up cleanup

No there isn't. It would be safer to use msconfig - Start>Run>msconfig. There you can go to the startup tab and untick entries one at a time (then restart) and retick them if it causes a problem. Make sure you Google the entries first and make sure you know what you are unticking before you do so. And don't just untick a load all at once. You can look up the entries at these sites also: www.castlecops.com <<<Seems to be playing up at the moment www.processlibrary.com www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary Also for speeding up startup times I'm a bit of a fan of TuneXPs "Ultra-fast boot (rearrange boot files)" function - if you want to try it get it HERE
  9. My first thought when I saw this was it was a joke, just reminded me of this link that was posted here a while back.
  10. Anyone that actually reads the ad page will know why as it tells you there (or at least it did last time I saw it). You should only see the SiteAdvisor ad page once a month, if you're seeing it every time just allow/keep the SiteAdvisor cookie.
  11. Thanks alot for that. Not too keen on the style but really like the wallpapers
  12. The backup option is only for the 'Issues' section, not the cleaner. And you would have been asked before fixing any issues if you wanted to create a backup.
  13. In the same folder as JKDefrag is JKDefragGUI, just click on that and it brings up the GUI with four choices of defrag
  14. Thats a very stylish wallpaper, wheres that from?
  15. Well you don't actually have to download the winapp2 file, that has cleaning entries for many programs, you can just create one (its basically just a Notepad file) if you only want a Shockwave 10 entry. Open Notepad, copy and paste the following into it: ; Application Cleaning file;; Notes; ---------------------------------------; LangSecRef; 3021 = Applications; 3022 = Internet; 3023 = Multimedia; 3024 = Utilities; 3025 = Windows[Macromedia Shockwave 10]LangSecRef=3023Detect=HKCU\Software\Macromedia\Shockwave 10Default=TrueRegKey1=Software\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\movies Save as type: All Files. Filename: winapp2.ini, and click on Save. Then put this file into CCleaner program folder - usually C:\Program Files\CCleaner If you want the additional cleaning for all the programs in the downloadable winapp2, just download it, unzip and put into the CCleaner program folder as above.
  16. There's a great video on the PCPitstop site where they forced a laptop battery to overheat and filmed the consequences. Fascinating and spectacular (in a rather scary way): http://pcpitstop.com/pcsafety/video.asp
  17. Yup, I would go along with the JKDefrag recommendation. Really good defrag program and even better now its got a GUI as personally I don't really like command line programs. As your second question wasn't answered (background or on demand defragger), I just don't think its necessary to have a permanently running background defragger (just my opinion) Yes, it now has a GUI so you can just click on that, tick the type of defrag you want and click run.
  18. If you want to make the files that Recuva finds unrecoverable then yes, use the erase free space function (This can take quite a while). Also in future to prevent anything you delete being recoverable just use right click>Erase (instead of delete)
  19. Shockwave 10 isn't cleaned by CCleaner yet, there is a winapp2 entry for it though: [Macromedia Shockwave 10]LangSecRef=3023Detect=HKCU\Software\Macromedia\Shockwave 10Default=TrueRegKey1=Software\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\movies (Instructions on creating a winapp2.ini and more entries here: http://forum.CCleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=1110)
  20. Thanks for taking the time to do this over the past few months
  21. Here's another one I've just had recommended, apparently bigger screen size: http://www.viidoo.com/en/index.php
