  1. Did you create a new location (on the aol sign on screen) and if you did, did you get the message 'AOL has detected broadband' when it searched for a way to connect? What firewall are you using and does it connect if you turn off your firewall? I know my Sygate stopped me connecting when I first got DSL, to sort it I had to go into the options and untick 'Enable driver level protection'.
  2. Aren't you missing the AVG Update service: avgupsvc.exe
  3. Its a setup, look at the girl when he picks her out then cut to the girl at the end. Its not the same person, which means theres been a switch, which means there was camera trickery and editing, which means its b*ll*x
  4. I posted a suggestion in the suggestions thread a while back suggesting adding a direct link to the beginners guide within CCleaner for that exact same reason.
  5. Several of the Download.com user reviews you linked to Andavari stated it was now Norton AS
  6. I know its a bit late but heres a couple of links, both require you to download software (free) though. But knowing a few people who use these I'm assured they work well: http://www.tvexe.com/ http://www.tvunetworks.com/index.htm
  7. Well I was having problems getting logged out all the time but for the last week or so its been fine.
  8. Because as far as I'm aware CCleaner requires a reboot to clear the run list, hence the reason I suggested it.
  9. Think I'll wait for the next release, too many bugs cropping up in this one for my liking (especially as one of the bugs is the filename erasing, which was the new feature I was most wanting). Its been a while since we last had a buggy release though so can't really complain.
  10. Never really bothered me but useful anyway, thanks.
  11. Correct: Control Panel>Java>General tab, untick 'Check for updates automatically'. Advanced tab>Miscellaneous - untick 'Place Java icon in system tray'
  12. Go to Start>Run and enter 'services.msc' in the run box (and press enter). This will open the services window, scroll down to the 'DCOM Server Process Launcher' service and check that the startup type is set to Automatic. If it isn't, right click it, select properties and change the startup type to automatic there (under the general tab).

    Windows System

Not sure why its not there anymore, should be I wouldn't recommend cleaning it. For a start programs will take slightly longer to launch and the prefetch folder regulates its own size anyway - once it gets to a certain number of entries it automatically deletes the oldest. As a result it never gets above about 5Mb. This from the infamous XP Myths page (Link):

Its in the advanced section now due to general concensus being that cleaning the prefetch folder is a waste of time and harms performance.
  16. Brilliant, very happy with that change. Thanks MrG
  17. SUPER should work too: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
  18. I answered this in the other thread you started about this: Try unticking Flash player in the multimedia section (under applications tab).
  19. I tried that. Its not just the game, I tried launching other applications and I can't get any of them to launch after ending explorer. The batch file works fine if I don't use the end explorer line, but as soon as I add that line anything I try to launch after it won't work. There must be a different line or command I need to use to launch an application when explorer isn't running. I've Googled loads and can't find it, and my knowledge of batch files consists of just the last couple of days so was hoping someone on here would know (I know one or two on here have a good understanding of them).
  20. Having IE open is irrelevant, IE doesn't need to be closed to clean its cache.
  21. Try unticking Flash player in the multimedia section (under applications tab), that should do it
  22. Never thought to try that. Just have though and the game launches no problem with explorer stopped so thats not it. Must be something not quite right with the batch file
