  1. If you are upgrading from an older version, and if you haven't already done so, also try uninstalling the old one before installing the new one if the upgrade gets stuck.
  2. Some users have reported problems installing software (not just CCleaner) after a Windows update thanks to Windows deciding that you don't want to install anything that you haven't purchased from the Windows store. To check if this has happened to you, go into the "Apps & Features" settings for Windows 10 (just start typing "Apps" in the Windows search bar) and if the "Installing Apps" option says "Allow Apps from the Store only" change it to one of the other two options to let yourself install software acquired from other places.
  3. This will end up as part of a larger pinned FAQ article, but in the meantime some notes for anyone else who reads this thread with a similar issue: The most common reason for customers reporting serials keys not working is mistyping the key - especially when registering a new computer and using a serial key that has been hand-copied onto paper (is that a "2" or a "Z"? etc). To reduce frustration, we recommend that you copy-paste the serial key from your purchase confirmation email into the product. If you bought a while ago and cannot find the email with your serial key, you can retrieve it from https://www.ccleaner.com/support/license-lookup using the email address that you used when you purchased. ... and if that doesn't work, customers with a current paid licence can always get priority support from our customer care team by filing a ticket here https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/requests/new or at support@ccleaner.com.
  4. Was what you saw before something like this? If so, you'll need to go into the "Apps & Features" settings for Windows 10 (just start typing "Apps" in the Windows search bar) and if the "Installing Apps" option says "Allow Apps from the Store only" change it to one of the other two options to let yourself install software.
  5. Offer messages like this are usually set to only appear once per user. Under Options > Cookies in CCleaner, have you changed whitelist of cookies to keep? That list is to make sure you don't log yourself out of social media every time you do a clean, but also to make sure you don't reset your "I've already seen this so no need to show it to me again" flag for promotional offers from CCleaner.
  6. @copakeman support would usually be the best folks to check the status of your serial number. But since you are already here, I have sent you a DM to check it for you to see if anything is amiss.
  7. To continue to offer a free product to millions of users, we need some people to pay for the Pro version. CCleaner runs discount/offer campaigns from time to time - usually about every 3 months. Offer usually runs for 7-10 days, during which time a user may receive 2-3 messages, after which time it all goes fairly quiet again aside from new release notifications. Some users on older versions see repeats more often than they should when the campaign is running - although that was fixed in v5.54.
  8. Note that v5.40 will not work with Windows 10 1903 - only 1809 or below.
  9. We'll give the folks at FileHippo a nudge to fix their numbering.
  10. You seem very passionate about automatic updates. The good news is that autoupdate was introduced a few years back. For paying customers.

    Hide files

Do you mean you want to secure delete them so that they cannot be recovered?
  12. This will very probably happen in a future version, since it is a bit more of an advanced tool.
  13. It was one of the specific fixes released in 5.58 so I hope that does the trick for you. @Dragoneer, @crizal please report back if that hasn't sorted out the problem for you.
  14. We do not currently touch Microsoft components or drivers with the Software Updater. You can check that second "Up to date Programs" tab to see the list of software on your PC apart from FileZilla and Skype that Software Updater can manage. It sounds like any unexpected updates of the components you mention would have come from elsewhere - not CCleaner.
  15. Were FileZilla and Skype the programs you were concerned about in your initial post? That screenshot shows that there are programs available to update: FileZilla from your current version of 3.41 to 3.42 and Skype from 8.44 to 8.46, but that it has not done so. What happens when you click the "Update All" button on the right? Do you get a pop-up message like the one from my screenshot above?
  16. To confirm, are you using CCleaner Free or CCleaner Professional Trial? The Software Updater is a paid feature (released in version 5.55 in March), so if you are on the free version, when you go to Tools > Software Updater and click "Update" it should be popping up with a message rather than letting you proceed with updating the listed software. .. and even for paid users you still need to click the button to update the software selected - it's not automatic.
  17. FYI, Chromium Edge is in the queue. Although until it is actually released to the general public, tuning and tweaks for Chrome etc will tend to come higher up on the priorities list.
  18. Are you running on Windows 10 and had an update recently? I recall Windows 10 being highly problematic for Microsoft Money users. Also, did you try checking the internet and browser settings from within MS Money itself?
  19. @yohanna BTW, just to check - you are running the latest CCleaner for Mac 1.15? Also, are you running MacOS 10.14 Mojave or an earlier version?
  20. "the CCleaner software does not keep any track of where you have been - it only checks where you are at a particular time when you try to use it." So no. No it doesn't. IP addresses are checked and then discarded.
  21. Some people use the hosts file to manually block internet hosts. This can interfere with the proper functioning of software that relies on retrieving information from the servers in question.
  22. If this was on a PC I would recommend that you try our free Recuva file recovery tool (https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva). Unfortunately, we do not have a file recovery tool for the Mac. Freshly deleted files have an extremely high chance of recovery. Uncertain what there is in the way of free file recovery software for the Mac though. Try here? https://www.macworld.co.uk/feature/mac-software/best-data-recovery-apps-3681531/
  23. @flippertie thanks for this - outlining your test scenarios in this fashion was extremely helpful. Your third time around showed the intended behaviour. The second install attempt displaying the Avast offer would have checked for existing AV before offering, but seems to have failed to detect your Trend Micro since it was switched off at the time. I am concerned with what happened the first time around though - that would certainly be a "bug not a feature". To help us replicate this scenario, are you able to confirm: Can you recall which 5.4x version you were updating from? Was this in response to an in-product notification advising that you were 11/12/13 released out of date? At what point did Trend Micro pop up during the first failed install attempt? Do you recall what it said when it did pop up? At what point did the CCleaner installation show as unresponsive in the Task Manager? Was the failure to delete the old CCleaner executable something you observed, or was there a specific error message that popped up telling you that it had happened?
  24. "Buy Now" messages will identify themselves as such, with mentions of price or savings if there is a promotion going on at the time. If you are using an outdated version of CCleaner Free you will receive notifications that a newer version has been released, particularly if you are on an extremely old version. The link there will take you to a page where you have the option to purchase CCleaner Pro for the additional features, automatic updates and priority support - but you can also "no thanks" your way through to downloading the update for free.
