  3. Spybot is still a must have in my book, even with teatimer (which still works fine for me, for the last few years). Ad-Aware I think is getting close to being obsolete, but I still update and run it occasionally.
  4. First they find the cave : HERE Now scientists discover kryptonite: HERE
  5. Do you mean something like this : http://www.linkusb.com/ or just using a USB stick to transfer files? Either way the answer is yes. {Google search for: usb network cable}
  6. I've got got 44 on this PC at work/college. CCleaner picks up 3 out of 5 index.dat files belonging to admin: As you see I'm logged in as admin so CCleaner will not clean those index.dat files belonging to other profiles. CCleaner can only keep get better
  7. Microsoft has three new funny adverts and three new themes (avatar & wallpaper) for messenger Live. Check it out here: http://www.communicationevolved.com/
  8. ok, I was google'ing what I could hear in the lryics. I haven't heard the song myself before hearing the clip. ::edit:: Woops I should have known it wasn't that song, the lryics are for 2 singers, not one like the clip.

  10. "Symantec" the company reported its (the viruses) existance, but does "norton" the program?
  11. [cut]---[/cut] woops wrong answer, sorry
  12. You could also try a live CD like Bart PE (or a Linux Live CD if you know how to mount drives and use one) to remove the files (as they would have no excuse to be in use) and you should, in theory, be able to change the attribute. Does Unlocker tell you what application/process is locking the files, or is it just the read only attribute, maybe you need to find a way of killing that first? Have you tried changing the Read Only attribute first while in safe mode (as Administrator)? Hope these few extra ideas are some use.
  13. Well, I just checked and it deletes it all on our pc, so maybe it does have a bug with regards to the language. Just check what index.dat files CCleaner says it will delete: Run CCleaner, click analyze, look through the list untill you find index.dat (there should be two entries), where does CCleaner find the .dat files (if it finds them)?
  14. cleanup is a good cleaner but not anywhere near as customizable so if you have certain sections in CCleaner un-checked they may just get cleand up, check cleanup's options to find out what you can unselect if you need to keep some stuff. Otherwise blow away that useless temp stuff, May I leave 1 more tip/suggestion: "Turn you speakers up before clicking the cleanup button enjoy lol"
  15. Crassssshhhh (Freezing again) 82.8% 5529 files found I had Quick Books running again along with Outlook and 2 firefox windows open. After closing Quickbooks it still freezes, just like last time..... It seems to freeze not the program but explorer? As the Taskbar & Task Manager won't open or run, have to use Alt+Tab to change between processes, the program does't freeze because the cancel button works fine. Once I cancel, all processes (Task Bar / Task Manager) come back to normal. scanning other drivesworks fine, i'm thinking there is some incompatability with quickbooks, as both times I've had this problem Quickbooks was running while I Installed and Scanned.
  16. Heading over now, to get the download ::Edit:: Crassssshhhh (Freezing again) 82.8% 5529 files found I had Quick Books running again along with Outlook and 2 firefox windows open. I'll post this in the "bug reporting" forum as well.
  17. I've started to like some of the stuff by flyleaf [flyleaf wiki] [flyleaf homepage]. Though, I couldn't pick an all time favorite song, I like to many from too many artists. I prefer variation, so I listen to more radio than bought tracks.
  18. Welcome to the forum Bryan84 Not sure what the problem is, I know VISTA itself is still causing users of CCleaner varying troubles. By the way that link you posted does not work, you'll have to redo the link. You may have to wait for the next version (hope it gets fixed)
  19. Sorry what do you mean? there is nothing called "windows update notepad". Do you mean a set of log files in a particular folder or notepad itself is not working?
  20. Apon restart the file would have been recreated, that is why you can still find and open the index.dat file. Does your Index.dat file still contains the same entries before and after restarting, or is it empty?

Personally I actually use WindowsKey+R type regedit press Enter. just it is easier to explain Start Run regedit Enter lol I'm more surprised you didn't suggest "Start" "Run" type taskman.exe file>new task regedit.exe (just teasing lol ) For those who don't know, we have another conversation over "how to open taskmanager", though rridgely wasn't one of the posters. If Iv'e missed the joke please let me know lol Please follow rridgely's post above.
