Well I just tryed to recover 2 text files listed a unrecoverable with 36/37Kb each. and they seemed to be recovered though they werent files i had ever seen before they where nero related but it still had plenty of readable text.

on one of our systems Explorer(process) froze (no Start / task bar/ desktop access, ctrl alt del is unaccessable) while running a scan ~81.5% scan would have continued slowly it got to 81.6% but i stopped the scan and regained access to explorer. I had 1 Quickbooks and 2 Firefox Windows open alongside recuva, hard drive 40Gb 2+Gb free, will try again with them programs closed. ::edit:: Even with Qb closed and 2 Firefox windows open, it still stalls explorer ::edit:: closed firefox. Maybe its Nero InCD,or hard drive space. I closed all unneeded and needed programs ie: antivirus(Nod32) firewall (Sunbelt Kiero -last freeware), spybot, google desktop, anti spam(popfile). ::edit:: I ran the scan on some of our other partitions one 18GB with 2Gb free and it scanned fine, so i still have no idea why, may be some kind of system file/process recuva looks at while scanning C:\

Hey I like it, easy to use, nice to look at and the comment section is helpfull, I havent seen this in other free recovery programs. I think a serch function would be handy though, IE. "Search within results" to narrow down to find the file you want to recover, supporting wild cards in the search would be good aswell. Another must have item alongside CCleaner.

If you downloaded it from www.ccleaner.com, the file should be safe, I have it installed with no problems, Which anti-spyware program are you using? Have you previously had CCleaner installed? You could try the no frills "Slim" install which comes without the toolbar and English language only... Go to the Other Builds link on the download page http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds.aspx . If you can't wait for other solutions, temporarly disable the AntiSpyware program befor installing. ------ fireryone
