  1. Got it with the GTA V bundle (already had GTA V on PS3 though) - I don't charish replaying it on PS4 since it takes too long to build the characters find all the junk in it, etc. Bitch fest: I absolutely hate the PS4 OS they really dumbed it down to uselessness in my opinion to the point I'd no longer consider it a set-top-box like the PS3 which could play videos (Xvid/DivX), store Photos, store music (I could give two shits about the USB Music Player it has), etc. Also the controller with that silly lightbar eats through the battery in no time. Another issue the design on the front of the console doesn't accept slightly fatter USB sticks - it should've had a flat/flush face to plug USB sticks into. I had thought I could just pack up my PS3 but no, as for multimedia it does more than the dumbed down PS4. GTA V on PS4 has many out-of-focus views that get really fuzzy and unsightly which never once happened on the PS3 and they seriously need to fix it with a patch right away it's making playing it an eyesore. What I'm really waiting for is the next MGS on PS4, I'll have to get the last PS3 version first and play it since the PS4 version is supposedly going to be part 2 of the game. -------- That MTU Fix for the PS4 that I posted about earlier shouldn't be needed anymore, they've supposedly fully fixed PSN for PS4.
  2. It would only clean DNS Cache if you enabled it to do so, I think the cleaner for it is off by default. Perhaps rebooting, or unplug then plugin the electrical power for your modem could solve the issue - well that's what many ISP's will tell people to do first. If you suspect it's DNS related perhaps go into the Windows services and make sure DNS Client is enabled and running (or restart it if it is already running). One caveat though is if you use a big HOSTS file like that from MVPS.org, etc., they either recommend or automatically turn off the DNS Client because with a large HOSTS file having it enabled and on can significantly slow down your Internet connection.
  3. Go to know that you found out what cookies it's using.
  4. This is what it cleans for BitDefender, looks old though: [BitDefender] ID=2306 LangSecRef=3024 Detect=HKLM\Software\Softwin\BitDefender Desktop Default=False FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\BitDefender\BitDefender 2009\Logs|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%CommonAppData%\BitDefender\Desktop\Profiles\Logs|*.xml|RECURSE FileKey3=%AppData%\BitDefender\Desktop\Profiles\Logs|*.xml|RECURSE Resource Hacker (freeware), then load CCleaner.exe into it (but do not save) and use 'View > Find Text' which is its search function.
  5. Something to try although I don't know what type of cookies they're using - something you may wish to find out: 1. Open CCleaner. 2. In the large Cleaner button click the Applications (tab). 3. Scroll down to the Multimedia section, and untick Adobe Flash Player. This is assuming (although I don't know) that HBO GO could possibly be using Flash cookies.
  6. For those on a PS4 system that still can't log into PSN (PlayStation Network) after all the DDos attacks it had during Christmastime there's now a possible solution, an MTU Fix. Basically all it's doing is manually changing the MTU network setting from the standard of 1500 to 1473 (a really simple and easy to do fix actually). After changing the setting you may still have to manually sign into PSN using your PSN password located in 'Settings > PSN' and then click Sign In, and input your email address and password. The fix reportedly works for some people but not all, it worked for me and was the only way to restore PSN on my PS4 system. Here's a step by step video by DomisLive, the instructions with screenshots are near the middle of the video starting at 3:02 (3 minutes 2 seconds): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9FbGAZZs-M Unlike the video link above I had to actually manually sign into PSN, it wasn't automatic for me. ------- Note: Even if you don't subscribe to PSN Plus it's still important to have the basic free PSN so you can get info on the games you're playing, etc.
  7. I've seen a few of YouTube videos about it. My new PS4 was only able to connect once since the 24th Christmas Eve, nothing all day Christmas, and nothing this morning. One would think these multi-billion dollar companies could protect against the attacks since everyone using an XBOX is a paying subscriber to use online features, while PS3 has free online features, and PS4 which shocked me and pissed me off requires a payed subscription to play games online. I wanted to play a game online to enjoy the limited-time Christmas theme it was going to have but I suspect that's going to be ruined and will probably completely miss out due to the attack -- but it did give me time to make up my mind if I want to pay Sony to play games online and the answer is hell no I won't do it.
  8. And also realize "promoting" will probably get you banned as being a spammer on other forums/sites.
  9. It's identical to using Add/Remove Programs, in that it only runs the uninstaller included with the software. To remove additional left-overs like files and registry data you'd need to use something like Revo Uninstaller Free or Pro.
  10. For future reference if you're using CCleaner to clean Adobe Flash Player you can protect the .sol files by excluding them in: Options -> Exclude -> Add -> File I exclude the settings.sol file to keep the Flash Player settings intact while still allowing CCleaner to remove the downloaded Flash content/cache.
  11. Small/tiny files (I'm referring to hundreds or even thousands of them) take longer to clean for secure deletion tools versus say just one big file - of course also depending upon the size of a big file.
  12. I have never seen a moderator post "you are stupid" in those exact words towards anyone -- no matter how much trouble/trolling, etc., they've caused upon the forums and I've been on here going on ten years.
  13. It did support it although I can't remember if winapp2.ini support was around back then. I remember using CCleaner on Win98, in particular v2.36.1233 (the last version that supported Win98).
  14. The "other" topic was about the BETA release which is no longer supported. Since there's various other topics about the 5.x GUI it is in no way blocking anyone from having their say about the GUI design in 5.x since after all without user feedback (positive and/or negative) Piriform wouldn't know if they're going in the right direction.
  15. Almost time to devour more turkey (xmas day) and ham (new years day)!
  16. Thanks Hazelnut. I wish a hosts file could be used on gaming consoles too, oh well I have my hardware firewall to block adservers but not as effectively.
  17. Today another moderator reported it to an admin, so Piriform will be aware of it shortly.
  18. Please keep your help to only one topic. Your topic about CCleaner breaking your network is in this post which I moved to the CCleaner Bug Report forum.
  19. Some things that can cause this would be a music/video player you're always using, and a security software such as some antivirus.
  20. Is it a locked/in-use file? If it is locked/in-use you wouldn't be able to right-click and delete it in Windows and that's why CCleaner also wouldn't be able to delete it.
  21. So Microsoft bricked your Windows installation with their "update". I hope you have a recent disk image handy for restoration.
  22. The monitoring as reported by other people gets turned-on by default when updating, or it was fixed, I don't know different people have reported it being turned on but for me it wasn't but then again I use the Portable build which uses an .ini file for the settings instead of the registry, then again I'm on WinXP 32-bit and there seems to be a trend with various x64 bug reports. You can make your installed version use an .ini file instead by going into: Options -> Advanced: Save all settings to INI file The .ini file with the settings will be in the same exact folder where CCleaner.exe is located, it's named: ccleaner.ini Then when settings are in an INI you can manually edit it with Notepad, this turns off the monitoring completely, search for the word Monitoring and make sure it has an =0 after it, it should look exactly like this: Monitoring=0 Oh yeah, also make sure there are no CCleaner.exe processes running in the backup, perhaps reboot after changing the monitoring settings.
  23. Oh dear Hazelnut you know me, and you know I wouldn't put up with ads popping up without getting rid of them. -- Edited out my previous comment after giving it some more thought, sharing how I get rid of the ads would probably upset Avira.
  24. Something I noticed: Does the FileKey1 and FileKey2 work on your system? I only ask because you end both with \*.* Instead of the usual: |*.*
  25. You can input exclusions into Avast, although I can't remember where since I haven't used it for a very long time - try looking in the settings, I think it used to be buried in there, if you can't find it there look in all those resident shields. Any av worth anything will have to have an exclusion ability. I have chosen Avira, I like the fact they have a classic GUI. It scans on my old XP system from about 45 minutes to 52 minutes which is significantly faster than any other free av. Avira is what I went to after going from MSE (took over 6 hours to do a full scan with the last compatible XP version, scan time alone made it rather unusable for me) to Panda Cloud Antivirus (took just over 2 hours which is one hour too long in my book).
