  1. Not sure when it happened but my Moto G was updated to Android Ver. 4.4.4 KitKat (perhaps a couple of weeks ago) with no issues with CCleaner Ver. 1.06.28
  2. I might as well start the December desktop ball rolling...................Ah!..................so much water, we could do with some water/rain down here in the Grampian's our bush fire season has commenced, meanwhile this will remind me of cooler days.
  3. As mta states: "Three things are certain; birth, death and loss of data. You control the last" Because of the latter, I have reduced my auto-save from 10 to 5 minutes and "checked" always create backup copies box. I also live in a rural area and suffer from "power outs" regularly (about 7 or 8 times a year) so I can imagine just how you must feel Johnny Sokko from loosing 4 hours of creative writing. In your case Johnny Sokko you may even consider "auto-save every two minutes".
  4. Hi there login 123, I am able to check or un-check the "enable active monitoring" box however the following warning/advice dialogue box appears; The attached image is from my Win 8.1.1 64 bit PC however I have just checked my XP Pro SP3 with the same result. Perhaps a re-install of CC may be called for.
  5. I think "the eyes have it"!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. None of the above worries me as much as the following statement from a very dear Russian friend of mine once said....."this really is the lucky country where you watch TV.....in Russia it watches you!!!!". Think I'll turn my Smart TV off
  7. I for one say "Ver. 5.0 UI..............well done"......................................a nice yet simple, plain, easy on the eyes, clear and concise user interface, apart from the fact that it's "super quick" running on my newly built 64bit Win 8.1.1. Thank you Piriform keep up the good & excellent work.
  8. Through my Volunteering duties I was being asked to advise/help out to many Windows 8 users with their issues so I thought as a OLD XP Pro & Win 7 Home (32bit) user I should move to Windows 8 and find out just what all the problems/fuss was all about. I will admit I was not looking forward to using Win 8 on a regular basis. (Touch screen which I have to use whilst volunteering BUT NOT at home for me) Following an OEM New Micro ATX build in a Corsair Carbide Air 240 Mini Cube Case/Gigabyte GA-Q87M-MK MB/i5 CPU/and installation of 64bit Win 8.1 then the update to 8.1.1 I must say I'm liking the changes between Ver 8.0 and Ver 8.1.1. and enjoying learning some of the tweaks now available. Very surprised that my old MS Office Pro 2003 and other 32bit SW seems to work exceptionally well. Sorry login123 I've tossed my XP Pro as I've installed Ubuntu 14.04LTS (64bit) over the old XP box. Now using Ubuntu/Win 7/Win 8.1.1 & an old Mac 10.4.11 laptop So I must say that I'm looking forward to Win 10 release sometime next year if for no other reason other than the final differences between the versions.
  9. Other than Derek891's above suggestions the only way to make sure your old data is secure and not recoverable is, as was the case during my several years employment with an unnamed Government Department, we sold/traded our PC's to the public EXCLUDING hard disc drives and RAM. All HDD & RAM from all output/input devices & PC's including Photocopying machines, were incinerated no exceptions.
  10. Thanks for the heads up hazelnut, as you say handy for those without OEM disc.
  11. I've always enjoyed B & W photography.............here is one of several favourites of mine.
  12. A BIG YES Squire, as you have stated I have always done exactly the same as you have stated. Similarly I too can state "never a Reflect failure". And "Thankyou" hazelnut for moving my mistake...........it was very very late for this "Baby Boomer"
  13. My apologies mta your right.............so hope this one meets with your approval !!
  14. For those Macrium Reflect users out there I have just finished installing/testing/verifying/restoring Ver. 5.3 Build 7170 (64-bit free edition) on Windows 8.1 on a new built Micro ATX - no CD/DVD drive so the rescue disc is now a "rescue USB stick". Pleased to say "it all works well".............thanks once again to Paramount Software UK Ltd Sorry folks I posted this in the wrong spot.......meant to be new post for "Software" I'm not sure how to move this post.
  15. Took the plunge with a new build and Win 8.1 (I'm sure I'll find another image soon this one's a bit boring)
  16. I've got it right this time...................these magnificent birds are Wedge Tail Eagles
  17. Information for those Macrium Reflect users. An upgrade from Version 4.2 to Version 5.3 is now available.
  18. A Cobber of mine set up an old Deer kill to attract some of our Grampians Wedge Tail's for photo's in his wildlife collection and he managed to "snap" this not often seen White Wedge Tail. To which I said "please please can I have a copy" Over the next few months I shall use more of his photographs..............hope some of you enjoy OPPS my Mate that took the photo plus others said that this "white wedge tail" is actually one of a pair of "Sea Eagles" that have been seen living and cruising around 3 lakes in my area for a couple of years. The rest of the photo's he gave me are Wedge Tail's ...........I'll use them as desktop's in the coming months.
  19. A BIG flat country in The Outback of Aus..............a reminder of my road trip to Birdsville and I'm saving to again next year, this time up The Oonadatta Track.

    June Desktops

mta: Survive the flies? they were worse around Windorah Qld. The corrugations were really bad from Mungerannie to Birdsville, however dropping the tyre psi down to 22 made the drive OK, averaged around 65kph LuLu: so amazing I'm saving up for next June 2015 and heading up the Oonaddatta Track (you'll need to look this one up......mta won't) login123: "Walkabout" in my case it's an "old blokes drive about". For those who may be interested a selection of pic's can be found: http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/tasgandy/slideshow/WIN7

    June Desktops

Better late than never............I was on a driving holiday. My June desktop shows my vehicle outside a very well known Out Back Pub, The Birdsville Hotel in Queensland, located some 1,585klm West of Brisbane and 40klm from the edge of The Simpson Desert National Park. I've just returned from a 3 week 4 x 4 driving trip to the Australian out back covering some 4,900klm by the time I got back home.

    Test web speed

Hey mta I'm not much better down here in the Grampians: download: 4.5mbps upload: 1.5mbps Still I suppose it's reasonable considering it's peak time (usually busy between 4.00pm & 8.00pm) and I'm only using Telstra 3G mobile broadband. Think I'll try again around 11.00pm to midnight.
  23. The weekend hide out..........................no mod cons here
  24. For our Coffee lovers
  25. AH...........no Corona, heaven forbid. Apart from the fact that most people are not interested in looking at one's "stills or home movies" let alone having to watch someones movie images from behind the steering wheel, there is ample movie footage out there in the WWW. I have not contributed to it.
