  1. Hey there Folks looks like I drew a blank re Dashboard Cameras, so yesterday I went out and purchased the Mini 0801, have installed and tested it.................works a treat thankfully so if anyone gets around to or has a need for one somewhere down the track I would be happy to pass on my research details.
  2. Not sure why one would want this but: http://www.inferse.com/12989/dual-boot-android-windows-phone-arrive-soon/ What next then?............A triple boot mobile phone.............Android, Windows & Mac !!!
  3. I am about to purchase a 2nd Gen "Mini 0801 GPS DashCam" and for me this small unit ticks all the boxes for my use, so I thought I'd take a moment before I spend $139.95 (AUS) and ask forum members "does anyone of you have one of these?" and by chance "does anyone own this model?"
  4. Still enjoying the 2nd Gen Nexus 7 SMOOOOOOOOOTH.........................as butter
  5. A great image that leads to "seeing both sides to a story" :D
  6. Hey folks check these idea's: http://www.etsy.com/au/listing/6278790/floppy-disk-notepad-yellow Personally I like the simple note pad made out of a pair of 3 1/2 inch floppy disks. The pad contains 40 pages for your writing pleasure.
  7. Watching the "downhill" jockeys......................Guys & Gals.....................they are unreal and a BIG leap of faith......................very exciting.
  8. login123 the 7 minutes and 12 seconds was from the "drives to be overwritten" dialogue box as in image No.1.9 Total time taken from booting up with the MR rescue CD disk to "restore completed" dialogue box as in image No.1.11 was 26 minutes. Let me know if you require any more information.
  9. Two nights ago I had occasion to rely on my Macrium Reflect to perform a restore. The ingredients were: Macrium Reflect Free Ver. 5.2 - 32Bit - build 6354 - using MR's WinPE Bootable restore CD. Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium OS which sits with all my apps on a Samsung 128GIG SSD fitted several months ago. I backup drive "C" 56.1GIG weekly to one of 2 internal 2.0TB SATA III HDD The image size used was 30.8GIG (standard MR compression). As this was the first time I have had to do a restore using Ver. 5.2 and WinPE Bootable CD (I have used earlier Versions with great success as documented earlier), I decide to use my Nexus7 to snap some screen shots as the Macrium Reflect progressed so I could then share the results with those of you who may be interested in another successful MR restore...........saved me again. Hope the above results assist those who may be still thinking of using Macrium Reflect, take it from me it is a brilliant product. PS: check out the time to restore image :D
  10. You'd never know I'm having a "KitKat moment" with my Nexus 7!!

    Nexus 7

A very good well asked question. I did however consider the existing Nexus 10 OR waiting for the Nexus 10.0..................two major things reasons I jumped now to the Nexus 7.2 1/ I've waited long enough......I asked myself "So how long are you going to wait before you purchase a Tablet?" 2/ I consider that the Nexus 10 is really to big........................ So for the reasonable price: Nexus 7.2, Qi wireless charger & combination keyboard/case for a total investment of $420.85 AU (includes 12 months manufactures and a 12 months extended warranty) Check out International Business Times re Nexus 10.2 sketchy details. http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/536062/20140128/nexus-10-2-release-date-android-4.htm#.UuitAPt9JhE
  12. I reckon that they should have used the name: "WhyDrive" cause it's got me beat who would use the service. Interesting reading though hazelnut

    Nexus 7

It's my understanding that a Nexus 10 will be released within the next 5 to 6 months (rumor only). By the way my unit cost me $339.00 Australian, purchased locally and I have now ordered locally a Bluetooth wireless combination keyboard/case for my Nexus cost $37.90, see attached images. Forgot to say 32GB model - no 4G. For me it's to big for a phone

    Nexus 7

Well Winapp2.ini it's been almost 11 months since I commenced my "watch & wait" for the 2nd Gen Nexus 7 tablet, indeed July last year saw it's introduction. However it has taken me till yesterday to finally take the plunge, I am now the owner of a 2nd Gen Nexus 7 complete with KitKat Ver 4.4. Well it came with 4.1 and was automatically upgraded, so now I am having some fun setting it up with my necessary apps. So far so good it's nice and fast, sound is good for a box so small and the screen resolution is excellent. The only issue I'm having at present is using my Motorola MB526 Hotspot with the Nexus 7, meanwhile it's back to my normal ISP PS: I have also just ordered a Qi wireless charger
  15. Well my dear papaleguas49 I understand just where you are coming from and wish to put my two pennyworth in. With all my client PC builds (up until retired 12 months ago) included a minimum of two (2) physical hard drives - 1 for system and apps and the other for data. Most of my clients had three (3) hard drives. the 3rd one being for "backups". All backup's were "Macrium Reflect" generated (these a free one for domestic use and a "pay for" version for commercial clients) Search our forum for specific details and specs. The "proof" is in the eating as they say. Last Friday when I received my evacuation instructions I simply went to my computers and "plucked" out my 2 removable 2.0TB HDD from the 2 - X-Doc slots, removed one 2.0TB USB 3 HDD, a box of software, my backup laptop, my phone, wallet, credit card and keys to the car along with one bag of personal stuff and..........................OFF out-a there. My point is if in the event of a total loss to me, I have my data, backups, music, photos and movies all on 3 HDD and my software...........now I would be able to recreate everything; back in business in a timely fashion. Note that Macrium also makes it possible with a SW product that enables one to restore backups to PC's with different hardware in the case of replacement hardware NOT being spec'd the same as original hardware. As data is so cheap these days.................play it safe install several HDD's in desktops. PS. My system and apps HDD is a 128GIG SSD and I left it in the Box when I evacuated due to the lack of available time.
  16. I like you ironworker am a great fan of and still use one PC with XP Pro SP3. Also dual boots to Ubuntu to keep my hand in. However I find I'm using it these days less and less due to "No XP Drivers" for the new equipment I purchase and use with my Win 7 and Mac OSX computers. I find that more and more equipment both input and output devices do not have drivers for XP With some effort I can sometimes find "ways around" some issues BUT like me and my approaching 68 years young next month the writing is on the wall. However this is the ideal place that you have landed in to ask for assistance should and when you experience any software/hardware related issues. There really is a wealth of information/assistance here in the Piriform Forum. We are all only to pleased to lend a hand where we can to Newbies and longtime members alike. Welcome to the Forum ironworker.
  17. I consider that I am lucky to live in the foothills of The Grampians National Park http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grampians_National_Park and some 7 days ago we had around 45 fires that our Local CFA (Country Fire Authority) Volunteers commenced fighting alongside the fire fighters from The Dept of Environment & Primary Industries (they have their own paid staff that work in with our CFA). Police and SES also work in with us. Last Friday @ 10.25am my local Village of Pomonal and neighboring town of Halls Gap were issued with a "evacuation advice" which I along with 90% of residents left our homes and headed for safety. Thankfully with with the BIG efforts of the Firefighters, 2 BIG sky-cranes Delilah & Malcolm (Elvis did not come out to Australia this year) and a good Southerly wind shift both Halls Gap and my home Village of Pomonal were SAFE. We missed the silver bullet. Most of us were able to return to our homes on Sunday afternoon safe-n-sound. I on behalf of all the residents of Halls Gap and Pomonal I say "Thank you to the Guys and Gals of the CFA & DEPI" for your magnificent risky volunteer job that you performed. Indeed they are all still involved in "back burning" and "blacking out" and will be there for the next 6 days and nights, getting ready for our next bout of 40° C plus days. The fire front was some 35Klms in length, there were over 600 firefighters and 7 aircraft involved with this fire. Some 58,000 hectares, several building and 3,500 stock were burnt. Unfortunately there was 1 loss of life, a lady details of which are not yet released. Indeed there were 3 other fire locations withing 50Klms of this one. In CFA terminology we are all still on a "watch and act" alert.............but safe at this stage. I have attached some images for those interested and once again THANK YOU FIREFIGHTERS EVERYWHERE.
  18. Last week I used Macrium Reflect "Free" version with 2 identical 18 month old HP laptops running Windows 7.0 64bit, (husband and wife same kit) I used a 1.0TB USB powered HD, shared by both units, partitioned for each laptop backup, and created separate boot-able WinPE ISO/CD rescue disks. Marcium Reflect Ver. 5.2.6444 (23 December 2013). As these two friends of mine live some 1.5 hours from me and they travel a lot I actually tested both units including a "restore"
  19. Windows 1.01...............now this brings back the old days, I even remember IBM PC DOS 1.0 in 1981 - on a 5.25" floppy.....................used to run it on a Prime PC with a...............wait for it................an orange screen. We've come a long way...........thankfully. <_<
  20. They say a change is as good as a holiday............looks alright to me and it's still useable
  21. For me it's "medical purposes only", no smoking in public places, smoke it at your own place, Governments can and should charge high taxes, stiff fines if caught driving within 12 hours of smoking it. We can only hope that legal control and sales will put the illegal trade out of business. As LuLu states "It smells horrid, makes me sick and I loathe going to concerts and night time events where I'm forced to breathe it in."
  22. Wonderful words DennisD and I wish everyone a happy, safe and trouble free 2014. I begin the year with another one of my "sketchy" desktop collection...........almost completed "ball & chain"
  23. DennisD I've caught up with your suggestions: Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai & Rurouni Kenshin (version 2012)...........you were right, both movies spectacular. As a mater of interest my Son and Daughter were here at home for Christmas and watched Rurouni Kenshin again, both of them saw the movie last year in 3D. Thanks for the suggestion. Regards Tas :)
  24. My two penneth worth is that I still enjoy my "old XP/Ubuntu" (occasional use) know and use my Win 7.0 daily BUT looking forward to learning Win 8.1 when I update following my Son's visit with his Win 8.1 powered Laptop which I enjoyed using for a week.......for me it's good being retired so I have plenty of time to learn. So razz tell your Sister-in-law throw caution to the wind, go with 8.1 and have fun learning
  25. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all Piriform Members and Visitors, stay safe and enjoy some quality time with friends and family..................hear from all in 2014
