  1. Corona, well done & well noticed..........for those that drive on the wrong side of the road that is.
  2. Taken by me around 2.30pm whilst heading down to Scottsdale in Tasmania. (Hope I have done this correctly DennisD "]http://[/url]
  3. You are correct Superfast, the following taken from my Win7 32 bit PC. .Net 3.5.1 is on the list.
  4. Hey Login123, thanks for that, looks different when someone else does it. Even though I had 2 Sat Navs (TomTom & Navman) with me I still produced a set of maps for myself in A4 and stuffed in a binder that sat on the front seat. This enabled me to take a "birds eye" view each evening and change my direction at the drop of a hat. Generally if there was a "back road" to my next destination, I took it. Mind you I also had mobile broadband & my laptop + 2 mobile phones. When I do the "round" trip in 12 months time I will have a dual mobile / sat phone. Ideal for contacting medical / flying doctor in emergency cases one might come across. Thanks once again for your interest.
  5. If one goes back many many years ago, one will find the analogue version of the e-pet was "pet rocks".................believe it or not.
  6. All are welcome, just imagine 6 or 7 vehicles traveling around Aus. in "snake alive we have a convoy"................way to go.
  7. I try to live by what my Dear departed Father told me some 40 years ago: Always show respect for your elders, tell the truth and remember that blood is thicker than water. You may never be very rich, but you WILL have a rich life.
  8. Mate, save some cash, get down here to Aus. and join me in about 12 months time as I am going to take 18 months or so driving around Australia. I plan to supplement the $$$ needed by doing some IT on the way in those outback country towns. There is always plenty of hardware & internet issues to solve out in the bush.
  9. Hey there Hazelnut, yes I have returned, spent 4 weeks over July/August 4x4 driving/touring on the mainland (remembering I live on an the island of Tasmania, sits below the mainland Australia which Tasmania is a part of). Drove some 5,250 Klms and visited many Aus. country towns, many back dirt/gravel roads & Pubs during that time. Plenty of grog, food and meeting local folk (particualy females). For those who know Aus. I traveled from Tas to Melbourne via ship (The spirit of Tasmania...an overnight trip across Bass Straight, some 9.0 hours on the water). Drove from Melbourne to Robinvale (on the Murray River) in Victoria, up to Mildura, over to NSW - Denilliquin, Nerrandera, Forbes, Parkes, Dubbo, Broke where my Brother owns a olive orchard, Singleton, Newcastle, Cowra, Bendick Murrell, Young, Junee, Yass, Canberra (Australian Capital Territory & the capital city of Australia...where I have lived for 2 x 10 year periods), so back to NSW, Cooma, Candello, Bembooka, Eden, now to Victoria down the Coast road to Melbourne via many many small country towns. Spent several days in Melbourne, drinking, eating, wine, w.....& song, then back to Hobart Tasmania. Now I spend every 2nd weekend away traveling around Tasmania, taking all the dirt/gravel back roads possible, especially if there is a Pub on route.
  10. Photo taken by me during one of my weekend 4x4 trips around Tassie. This image - a back road to Scottsdale a timber town between Launceston (on the Tamar River) and St Helens (East Coast of Tassie) Scottsdale is about 3 hours North East of Hobart, however the way I went via back roads took some 5 hours. Hope the above is not to boring.
  11. With tongue in cheek........."in my country we watch TV," in his or her country maybe it's "the TV watches me!!!!!"
  12. For me it's "well trained cats & dogs.......WELL TRAINED I say" Plus most of the owners NEED training as well. Our family over the years have had both cats & dogs, they gave us all plenty of good times. Now the children are grown up and have left the nest both Son & Daughter are looking having their own house hold pets when they manage to own their own house as most rental properties will not allow pets.
  13. Yes it is amazing how nobody was killed, as they say "Racing on the track is safer than on the road"........they also print this on the back of the Racetrack entry ticket "Motor racing is dangerous.....etc......enter at your own risk".
  14. You are correct @DennisD - the 6 year old box I use for storing & downloading movies (is also my Ubuntu PC) has 2 x IDE and 1 x "SATA I" & 1 x "SATA II" drives mounted with one of the SATA drives as Primary Master & the other as Secondary Master, with the IDE's being Primary & secondary Slaves, all operating with no issues. However as you say DennisD unless you can borrow a SATA drive for testing (if you were here in Tasmania - Aus, I would lend you one) best to play with the devil you know than the devil you don't know as the devil's always in the detail.............good luck.

Very interesting info Hazelnut, I shall give it a run as of now.................thank you.
  16. After doing a Macrium Reflect restore just 9 weeks ago (all went well as expected - other than having to perform the odd SW updates as you did), I now do the Macrium Reflect backup every Sunday...peace of mind........I just love Macrium Reflect.
  17. I also "failed" the IPv6 test 0/10 - passed IPv4 10/10 (der).............SO I then went out to the kitchen and poured myself another white wine whilst my pasta finishes cooking.
  18. For those who use Physical Sticky Notes, take 2 minutes out of your day and look here. MS StickySorter This software is a freebie from Microsoft. Apparently it was part of something called Office Labs, where Microsoft releases experimental apps that may find their way into Office in the future. (it never made it and we don't know why) It's yours for free if you want it.
  19. Believe it or not, but I still have one of these black phones in full working order, had it converted / rewired for use with current wall plugs......hell I only recently removed it from my office desk (no space)...I love those old phones, especially the loud twin bells that ring. I will admit it takes a bloody long time to dial a phone number. However, not all is lost I also have a 4 digital hands/cordless phones and base station that work along side the old blunder bus. Thanks Hazelnut for a reminder of yesteryear.
  20. Have you considered an IDE to SATA connector? I have used one of these with no issues, cost me $19.00 AUS.
  21. Zone54 I also use MSE on a XP Pro with 2.0GIG of RAM with no issues at all - also used alongside AVG
  22. My view is, way to go for the sales & marketing Dept.....looks good for the Tablet industry, NBG for desktops. Boy have I got some work ahead of me now, as I have just commenced "Tutoring" residents at the aged care home that I volunteer at and believe it or not but the Australian Federal Governments "Broadband for Seniors" PC's just delivered (3 weeks ago) are all running on Vista..........Soooooo........Win 7, then Win 8..........I'll still be volunteering when I'm 100...ah well just think of the changes I will have experienced since IBM DOS 3.0

    Speccy 1.11

MrG, many thanks and kind regards from Tasmania - Australia
  24. Bush areas like this are only 20 to 30 minutes drive from my front door, great for one wants to get away from it all.
  25. Nice choice DennisD, I am still using that one on my Ubuntu box, just can not seem to change it............so calming.
