  1. Nergal, in essence you are correct, however this list I thought may be of interest as it was a list/short description of the top 90 free Windows apps. from makeuseof.com for 2010. So sorry to all if this has been duplicated.
  2. Folks I thought the following info/list would be of assistance to many Forum members and visitors. It should be noted that Piriform Software Applications, Defraggler, Recuva & CCleaner are included in this list. Best 90 FREE useful software apps
  3. Good one Hazelnut, wish I had seen this before "chucking" out a great heap of floppy's...........Hey I just found I still have 4 x 1.33MB disks, now I know what to do with them. There are some great suggestion tabled there. I also found in the bottom of the drawer one FUjiTSU 640MB MO disk (magneto optical) and several PC 100MB ZIP disks...........I best not look down in my shed, goodness knows what I will find......I know there's a SCSI CD ROM Drive and 2 Adaptec SCSI cards there.
  4. I came across a interesting and short article that recounts the history of the Floppy Disk, thought it may be of interest to someone out there, especially if they can remember 1971..........yes folks that's how old the floppy disk is. Who invented it? how did it progress to present day? To find out more go to:Floppy Disk History
  5. Now Kroozer that's what we down under would like to see, well a few of us anyhow, a White Christmas.........looks great.
  6. Well folks, we are well into December now so I thought I would start the ball rolling with my Windows 7 December DeskTop. As it's getting close to the end of 2010 and the start of another great year I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Forum members and Piriform a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and a safe/healthy return to 2011. Kind Regards Tasgandy
  7. Happy Thanksgiving from Tasmania - Australia Have a safe one.
  8. Hey Login123 those images (your links) are certainly very interesting particularity the "Back in Holland" gallery......I volunteer at a Aged care home and have several Netherlands residents I spend time with and they were blown away to see several of those images. Personally I have book marked those sites and will spend some time on the Home Gallery site. So many thanks Squire. Have a look at Picture gallery "Early work 1916-1922 " Early Work (however you have probably seen it)
  9. Nice one Redhawk, just used it, simple and much easier to manage with the ability to delete Pic's online. Also easier to share with other users.
  10. Thanks for the comment Phtgrl, a very good find especially I light of, as you say "no weird browser restrictions"...I shall now go and check it out.......thanks once again. PS: welcome to the Forum, we look forward to more informative posts. EDIT: I have just tested "DropGallery" and yes it works well, simple and fast. The only down side for me is that when you wish to delete a Pic, you delete it from your Gallery on your own PC then auto synchronizing takes place, I think it would be better if one could delete Pic's from the online Gallery.....however as I said it works well.
  11. Now that is cute Kroozer.
  12. For those interested I have just received details of where you can access eBooks for downloading or reading online for free. Those interested go to:Free eBooks From the site offering access to the free eBooks: This is a listing of 260 sites that legally offer free books (eBooks) for download or for online viewing. Some time ago I went looking for some free eBooks and was surprised to find that there are many resources for this. I decided to put together this list of sites that offer free eBooks as a reference. Since there are so many, I was not able to check each one out thoroughly. So comments from you on any of these sites would be appreciated and added to the comments in the article. I have tried to make certain that all of the eBooks at these sites are legally available for viewing/downloading. However, it is possible that I have made a mistake. If you suspect any of these sites of illegally offering copyrighted materials, then please let me know. Putting this together was exhausting, but the list is not exhaustive, so I encourage you to post any sites that you know of that are not listed here. The listing here is in alphabetical order. Given the size of this list now, it may be easier to search by genre. I have set up 14 pages here of different genres. If you do not see one that covers your interests, let me know and I may be able to put one together. I have also put together a listing of sites that offer free and legal audio books at * Free Audio Books Online These listings may be search in the following methods: * Alphabetical Listing - A listing of the site names in alphabetical order * Listing by Genre - Links to pages here for different book genres (14) Happy reading for those interested.
  13. Yes Hazelnut, that certainly brings back memories, Windows 3.0 was the first MS product I saw (on a Mates PC) and Windows 3.1 was my first Windows product that I owned. (on a 286 box with a 50MB HD) Following by Windows 3.11, 3.11 for work groups and Windows Server 3.5.1 from memory. It was then I joined Microsoft as a paid up member of the "Black Label Partnership" program that...........OH bloody hell, that was to long ago. I don't think I want to trip down memory lane.......plus it's boring for those who did not take the same trip (for want of a better word). Anyhow, many thanks for the link as two of my other retired network consultants were also very interested to it all exposed/told in one location, a glimpse of "yesterday or yesteryear"
  14. Login123 I wonder what $$$ it would fetch on e-bay???
  15. MrG, from me and on behalf of the Speccy users in my part of Australia.........TASMANIA.........many thanks, well done Piriform.
  16. No Mate, I for one did not know, good links.....thanks.
  17. Timely response Hazelnut and let us hope that many computer users, visitor's and forum members read your link.
  18. The following lead-in description is re typed from the article link shown below. The web is awash with photo-sharing sites, such as Flickr. But while these sites are a great way to show off your own work to others, and to share photos that you've taken, they don't make it particularly easy to share the job of contributing the images. It's generally accepted that one person will create and upload the pictures, and others will share the job of looking at them. But a startup site called Project Minus (www.min.us) aims to change all that. It's incredibly quick and easy to use, looks fantastic, and makes a superb job of allowing a group of people to upload and view images. Ideal if you want to create a common repository for a group of people to upload their own pictures of, say, a wedding or a school play. Take a look Folks : NEW Photo sharing Venture 1st test photo of mine Head above the Clouds
  19. Well said to both Winapp2.ini
  20. How effective is free antivirus software? I have often wondered about the above question as I not only use "Free" antivirus software but also put my hand in my pocket for "Paid for" antivirus SW and I found this report an interesting read. MSE Vs McAfee Also interesting as I have now scaled my business activities down considerably and now count my $$$$. Mind you I am not saying that the report is the gospel truth, it is just one side of the argument, food for thought.
  21. You are right Squire, "Crush the Castle 2" is F A N T A S T I C what a brilliant piece of software......thank you.
  22. "Sieger" and "Crush the Castle" are both EXCELLENT time wasters, I love them, particularly Crush the Castle.......thanks Hazelnut & CTskifreak
  23. Man alive Ishi those links led to..............................heaps, I reckon I'll be "dragging my curiosity" not for hours but for months. Have just spent 1/2 an hour just on the first link...........man does that link to some great pics....many thanks.
  24. If it were possible, this would mean what? What would the purpose of showing/indicating what one already knows i.e. I have just "paused" or "canceled" the operation. Agreed that it would probably look better but!!!!! (just my two Penneth worth)
  25. Now that's seasonal, the caption could read: "Happy birthday Mate.....have a good one"
