  1. Finding more entries does NOT mean a reg cleaner is "better". You can try Uniblue's reg cleaner if you want, but it might delete something important. CCleaner is safer than most others since it isn't as aggressive. However, no Registry cleaner is 100% safe - you should always check each key : if you know it can be deleted (such as keys related to uninstalled programs), it's okay, else, you shouldn't let the cleaner do anything with it. Anyway, Registry cleaning will not improve your computer's performance, unless you have serious problems;)
  2. Please update CCleaner, latest is 2.32 : http://www.ccleaner.com
  3. If you use software to slim down Windows, don't expect everything to work as it should.
  4. Moving files to the Recycle Bin takes a while. Deleting them doesn't.
  5. This one seems to work : http://www.softpedia.com/get/Windows-Widgets/News/Soccer-News-Vista-Gadget.shtml It's a shareware, but the only limitation according to Softpedia is a nag screen.
  6. Switzerland just won against Spain !
  7. This thread was resurrected two times, each time 2 years after last post.
  8. Look for the .INI files included in CCleaner - there's a pinned thread where the Piriform devs give them. However, some of them are special, i.e. hardcoded in CCleaner, such as Firefox's cleaning.
  9. Don't forget to teach him that .exe are programs, not videos or whatever (porn can't be an .exe file...)
  10. The NPAPI (aka : plugin for non-IE browsers) Flash's name is "Shockwave Flash". Why ? Because Adobe are idiots, I think.
  11. A button in the settings to activate the Registry cleaner is an excellent idea. Automatic backups are a good idea too. However, I think creating a SRP is a bit too much, especially on Vista/7 where they usually take hundreds of megabytes - thus, the creation time is quite long.
  12. Please do the following : Analyze Check all files in the File List tab, click Defrag Checked Analyze again Post a list of the fragmented files (there shouldn't be much of them) That way it'll be possible to see why some files are still fragmented
  13. Where did you buy it ? CCleaner is free and can be downloaded freely from ccleaner.com or filehippo.com
  14. The /F parameter is not needed if /R is specified
  15. If you use a secure file deletion (you can choose that in CCleaner's settings), it shouldn't be able to restore anything. Or only file names.
  16. Is your email "obvious", i.e. can it be easily guessed (e.g. name.surname@somewhere.com, or something like that) ?
  17. In C:\Program Files\Defraggler\[some long name].txt Just ignore the "can't find update" message, and analyze like you would normally do
  18. Please calm down...you're the only one who made such a negative comment in months. Your only posts are in an AVG-related thread. Rorschach112 answered all your questions, so I don't see why you are complaining. Besides, Hazelnut was just trying to be friendly and to help you - locked files usually mean something is wrong in your computer. You are the one being unfriendly here - not us
  19. CCleaner can't clean anything on D:\, unless it is the target of an environment variable (e.g. sometimes, the Program Files folder is on D:\ )

    Ubuntu

There seems to be a fix... Go into your profile folder ( %userprofile% ), enable hidden folder view, select the AppData folder and view its properties. Uncheck the "Hidden" checkbox, and hit OK. According to some people in ubuntuforums.org, it should work.
  21. Then I won't help you, and I don't think anyone will. You are using an outdated OS, with no virus protection, and it seems you don't update. You also seem to be the only one having that problem ; thus, I don't think it's related to CCleaner.
  22. It now respects the browser mode, i.e. Private Browsing or not. A lot of people will like that
  23. Could you please run Defraggler.exe with the /debug command-line switch ? Type this in the "Run..." box : "C:\Program Files\Defraggler\defraggler.exe" /debug Then post the debug log (it's in C:\Program Files\Defraggler\ ) here. That will help the devs
  24. What should you do ? Install XP's SP3, and install an antivirus.
