  1. Is WFS really needed on SSDs ? According to this, the TRIM command already makes recovery impossible - and that's the only point of WFS.

Some awesome things that should be in FF 4 (or 4.x) : http://blog.stephenh...al-unification/
  3. I doubt spammers actually read posts
  4. Open a Command Prompt (Windows key + R (Run...) >> type cmd ) Type chkdsk C: /R If asked to, reboot.
  5. Wait. You'll receive an e-mail when there are new strings to translate. And translate Defraggler, Recuva and Speccy, too.
  6. Yes, Choice Guard is quite annoying, especially since it always installs itself - but it can be deleted safely (Win7 > OS X in terms of security. Period. Even hackers say that )
  7. Are you talking about the Defrag Freespace feature ? It will do a better job if you allow fragmentation ; however, your drive will be fragmented. My suggestion : Run it allowing fragmentation, and then defrag all the fragmented files.
  8. Well, the Windows Live guys are not the same as the Windows ones - so developping WLE doesn't use the Windows guys's time. Besides, self-healing and security are already in win7. Actually, WLM 9 is good once you install Messenger Plus! Live and remove the ads (the skin Messenger Live Toolbox has a hidden setting to do that)
  9. Do you really need WFS ? The only use of it is if you want to sell your hard drive.
  10. Same for me Hazelnut - that woman's voice is really annoying.. Also, I just hate the social things into WLM. The "M" stands for "Messenger", not "yet another so-called social tool".
  11. What's the point in "cleaning" keys that will be re-created ?
  12. If you have checked "Save all settings to an INI file" in options, it's in C:\Program Files\CCleaner (or C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner\ on x64 systems).
  13. If the beta doesn't uninstall correctly, this guide might help : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/15626/fix-problems-upgrading-office-2010-beta-to-rtm-final-release/
  14. Did they read it ? They don't come to the forum every day (well, at least, I don't see them even though I'm quite often on the board).
  15. There already is a checkbox to tell whether you want CCleaner to check for updates or not. And since CCleaner has a setting for it, it will be in the Registry / INI file. But...Is CCleaner really needed on PCs with no access to the Internet ?
  16. Same place. If you are using a 64-bit Windows 7 (nearly all Win7 are x64), it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner. Else, it's in C:\Program Files\CCleaner.
  17. If you need BitLocker (drive encryption), then yes. Else, the Professional edition will do the job. Unless, of course, you have unlimited amounts of money
  18. Well, it might be a bug in XP SP2 that was fixed by SP3, as Service Packs contains a lot of "hotfixes", i.e. fixes for rare bugs that only happen in certain conditions and not released to the general public because it would take too much time to test each one separately. Microsoft can send disks of SP3 - it costs a little (~10 $), but as SP2 will have its support terminated, if you stay with it, there's a 100% chance you'll catch viruses once flaws are found in it since they won't be patched
  19. Seems to be an ActiveX control since it's in Downloaded Program Files. If you have problems with IE or another software, fix it (but make sure to do a backup first). Else, don't touch it. PS : I recommend Windows 7, of course. In computers history, if Windows 7 is nowadays, XP is somewhere around Middle Age.
  20. Then update to SP3. As Haazelnut said, support for SP2 will end in a few weeks.

    Defraggler

I think this is because of XP's primitive notion of "security" - it allows the admin to do anything.
  22. Since Defraggler uses the Windows API, there shouldn't be any problems.
  23. Please don't tell me this is going to end into a "when was the first time you watched porn" thread
  24. If you haven't deleted them yet : Put them all in one folder, add that folder to CCleaner's Include list (don't forget to check the "Custom Files/Folders" checkbox), select "Secure File Deletion" and "Simple Overwrite". Then run CCleaner. Else, you'll have to use CCleaner's Wipe Free Space feature. ...That is, assuming you want to make sure nobody will be able to tell you have watched porn. Also, don't forget to use the porn mode Private Browsing feature, which is in all moden browsers, to watch that kind of thing. PS : I couldn't resist to laughing, sorry.
