  1. You have replied to an old post from 2021. Are you talking about the Taskbar or the System Tray?
  2. And thanks for spending time to do that . - That is what we are all about here, trying to work out what any issue is and how to resolve them. It's great that as users we can help each other, and that the company staff will also get involved on the forum when deeper help or insight on cnmpany policy is needed.
  3. That is usually because CCleaner sees there is an update but the server hosting that update is unreachable for some reason. It's a software company server, not Piriform or Avast. Can you say which software it is trying to update. There is a known problem with Teamworks in CCleaner 6.11 at the moment. PS. Playing with the Hosts file can make such issues worse. (You are experienced enough to know that though).
  4. Not at all, as the latest screenshot from @Jack53 shows he is in fact logged out of his google account - look at the blue button top right, it is asking him to sign in to Google again. The only reason I can think of where that wouldn't happen (assuming that you ran Custom Clean with Session ticked fro that browser) is if you ran CCleaner while the browser was still open - maybe open as a background process so not on screen. The fact that Google search is showing as the homepage is a browser setting, change the homepage in the browser, or change the search engine in the browser.
  5. In Custom Clean tick 'Sesssion' for Firefox - you appear to have done that. But if you then run Healh Check it will not use custom settings, - you need to use Custon Clean to use the custom settings.
  6. Where does it create that empty folder and sub-folders? ie. what is the full pathname for them? Are you sure that it is that app that is creating them? Microsofts own OneDrive does a similar thing for each user of a computer. Be very very careful if you try to add those folders for cleaning, you don't want to be clearing your standard folders with those names.
  7. Are you sure that it was CCleaner and not Windows Storage Sense? (Or something else you may have installed). A few questions to see if we can work out what may have happened: CCleaner Pro or Free? Did you open and run CCleaner after you got the prompt? If so did you run Health Check or Custom Clean? What are you Smart Cleaning 'Junk' settings?
  8. If you want to remove junk files and get lightweight then you neeed to use seek-leaner.
  9. One at a time is fine, and reinstalls of Windows are fine. As long as CCleaner is being reinstalled on the same machine it isn't a problem, as mods here we probably do it more than most when trying to replicate a problem and then afterwards reinstalling CCleaner as we want it. If a licence key keeps getting installed on different machines, even if one at once, then that will be looked at. It's a sign you may be a technician cleaning other peoples machines so you should have a CCleaner business licence.
  10. It's normal depending on your computers settings. You can stop some of it happening. If it's only just started happening for you then have you recently synced your browser? Have a read of this:
  11. If you purchased a new key rather than renewing then you can email support@ccleaner.com with details of the two licences and ask for a 'Licence Merge', they will join the two licences together so that you don't lose the time remaining on the old one. It's something that they do often. So you can take advantage of sale offers like you have done and not lose the remaining time on your existing licence It would have been a bit early for you to be sent a renewal reminder notice, people do complain if they get one when there's still a couple of months to go.
  12. Unfortunately in 2023 email attachments are the main method of delivering ransomware to companies. It only takes one inattentive employee to open a malicious email attachment and the whole of a companys records can get encrypted, and/or their system compromised or made inacessible. So many email applications used by companies have pretty strict automatic filters on attachments in emails nowadays, particularly emails that arrive 'out of the blue' as it where.
  13. You can already turn that notification off in Smart Cleaning. Set it to "Automatically clean without notification" for the browser(s) you use and it will clean on closing without the popup.
  14. The Free version Smart Cleaning is limited in what it can do. However if it is enabled in Free then it can do as you say if the game creates a lot of temporary files. Options>Smart Cleaning Tick everything that Free will let you, then untick them all again (make sure there are none left, not even greyed out ones) and close CCleaner. That should stop Smart Cleaner running in Free.
  15. From your screenshot Health Check has found an update for an application that you have on your machine, and has told Windows to install the update. That message says that Windows is trying to update the app but is asking for a command option that hasn't been given for some reason. Unfortunately it doesn't say there just which app it is trying to update, but you can find out easily enough. In CCleaner go to Tools>Software Updater and under 'Programs to Update' it should tell you what application it is that CCleaner is finding to be updated. It should tell you the application name, what version you have installed, and what update version it has found. You can then update the app from within the application itself. Once it's been updated then Health Check will stop telling Windows to update it. Please let us know which app it is that Software Updater finds, along with the version numbers - so that we can point it out to the developers to be looked at and fixed. PS. Another option is to always use Custom Clean and not Health Check - Custom Clean does not do an automatic check for software updates, that's what the seperate Software Updater is there for. (Note that Health Check in the Free version doesn't do the automatic check either, it's only automatic in Pro). You can set CCleaner to always show you Custom Clean instead of Health Check, OPtions>Settings>CCleaner Home Screen. PPS. If you go offline before running Health Check in Pro then it can't try to automatically update anything either; because it isn't connected to the web to check for updates.
  16. There is absolutely no difference in the functionality of the free or paid versions. The paid version will not find any more, or any less, than the free version - so long as you use the same search settings. If they found different things then you used different settings. All that the paid version offers extra is virtual hard drive scanning/recovery, priority support by email, and automatic updating. (There hasn't been a functionality update for years). So yes, - you could have saved your money if you had read what you were actually paying for.
  17. Have you read the post that I linked to above?
  18. Are you using Custom Clean, and do you have 'Session' ticked for Edge Chromium? If so then unticking it will leave your previous session (open tabs, active logins, etc.) alone and won't clear them, so they should still be there next time you open Edge.
  19. The 'Recuva' apps currently available on the Google Play Store are NOT the original Recuva by Piriform. Why would you trust/use any app who's developer is blatantly ripping off a trusted name? (One of them appears designed to steal your Facebook contacts list, reviews say that it asks you to login to Facebook but then doesn't recover anything at all. That doesn't make any sense. Why would a recovery app need you to log into Facebook?). The original Recuva from Piriform can not be installed on Android at this time, it can recover files from a phone's SD card if the card is removed from the phone and connected to a PC. (A very few users have also been successful at recovering deleted files from the phone memory - if the phone can be 'mounted as a drive' using USB to connect it to a computer so that the computer gives it a drive letter, many newer mobiles cannot be connected as a drive in that way).
  20. This is a user forum and we have no access to licence information, so for licencing issues we have to point users to support. In this instance as you say that you have paid for the 24/7 live chat technical support then have you asked there?
  21. Steal away, as long as the user gets the answer it doesn't relly matter who gave it. @UniStudent as said, because of the TRIM function you have to regard files that have been deleted from an SSD as unrecoverable. Which is why making regular backups of SSDs is important, just in case something like this happens. In this case your easiest solution if you don't have a backup of the files is to download them again from the university. At least Recuva can tell you what files they were, so you know which ones need to be downloaded again.
  22. No problem, it happens. The duplicate thread has been removed. As well as the 'Activity' > 'My Activity Streams' on the menu there is another way to see your content. Top right of the page is your username, click on it and there are some actions, click 'Profile'. That opens your profile page where your activity is listed, and where you can add/change/edit various things in your user profile. eg You can add a small graphic or picture as your forum Avatar. Note that on some fora you need to have made a certain number of posts before it will let you add or edit things in your profile.
  23. Windows keeps multiple different 'Recently used' lists for different places and different things. So Custom Clean lets you clean each one or not as you choose. In Custom Clean under 'Windows Explorer' as well as 'Recent Documents', there is also 'Other Explorer MRUs'. (MRU = Most Recently Used). But the ones that we get asked about the most are the two that you are asking about. Firstly there are the 'Taskbar Jump Lists' where Windows keeps the recent files for apps pinned to the taskbar, if you don't want to see them then tick it in Custom Clean: The Quick Access is a different thing and rather than cleaning the recent list you have to turn it off altogether:
