  1. I have found out that it's easier to uninstall completely Adblockplus and then reinstalling it. It will show a menu offering several new features... namely (block malware domains, remove Facebook and Twitter "like" buttons and prevent web usage tracking). For Firefox you need to manually delete two files containing "adblock" word before reinstalling. If anyone knows of an easier method, please post it. I don't know why the new setup menu doesn't come up after autoupdating ABP.
  2. NOT confirmed here. Windows 7 x64 SP1 Defraggler 2.16 EDIT: CONFIRMED while defragging from file list...
  3. How about doing some test on Windows 8.1 first? Maybe the patch will solve some obscure faults. I am keeping w7 for now. I think I will pass on w8 as I did with Vista. (it seems a common pattern for MS Operatng Systems). And I am not saying w8 is bad at all (nothing to do with the Vista fiasco), but it isn't appealling to me. Another thought is trying to reinstall w8 without UEFI/secure boot. Can it be done? Who needs GUID partitions when your partitions are smaller than 2TB?
  4. I agree with MTA. This cannot be good for IT people.
  5. I don't know. Maybe the algorithm has got some small bugs.
  6. I think it doesn't mean there isn't enough FREE SPACE per se (total physical space) but that there aren't any big free space GAPS in total. I think it's due to DF defragging algorithm. It opens too many gaps while defragmenting (specially at the end of the disk).
  7. Beware messing with the Winsxs folder. There are lot of NTFS hardlinks or whatever they are called there (NTFS symbolic links). It's difficult to report the real size. As for some people saying getting rid of a few Gigabytes isn't particularly noticeable, it is for me, specially when doing a patition backup.
  8. Nice find and nice idea. It works under W7_X64 too. It can get rid of almost 3GB for me. Yay!
  9. But Windows 8 comes with Windows Defender (MSE) built-in, right?
  10. That's Internet Explorer's disk cache. And it's set too big in size. Try setting it to 50-150MB or so. Having a cache that big can only lead to issues/slowdowns. Control Panel -> Internet options -> General tab -> settings
  11. You can use PhysX on AMD cards too, but limited to software.
  12. You are right. I would say "Do you want to make a backup copy of registry changes?"
  13. Amazing. Valve is planning on taking out the world...
  14. Check the PRODUCT column. For me several plugins appear with the same name, but I have both Firefox and Seamonkey installed. The product column will tell you what application they apply to.
  15. +1 to what Alan_B said. Several partitions make space management easier and things are more tidy. Also, having your documents / personal data on a single partition makes reinstalling the operating system a lot less painful operation. For my 500GB hdd, I have 3 partitions: + 40 GB for c: (boot drive) - Win7 x64. + 324 GB for personal data. + 100 GB for games.
  16. CCleaner registry cleaning is usually quite safe = not too aggressive.
  17. What operating system are you using? are your hard-disk operating in IDE or SATA (AHCI) mode? Tried checking for errors (chkdsk) too?
  18. Nah, your English is fine. I am not a English native speaker either. Back on topic: for me Quick Defrag is usually quick but on the other hand I suffer from OCD (Obsessive compulsive defragging) and defrag a lot... XD
  19. Are you referring to a common regular defrag or the quick one? This is important. If it's the regular defrag then I suppose Defraggler is looking for best file placement (filling gaps), thus consuming more cpu time.
  20. I tried it on IE 10 under Win7 x64 and it looked exactly the same as you describe. As I said, I guess it will get improved over time.
  21. Could it be a SVI (System Volume Information) or VSS (Volume Shadow Copies) issue?. Go to Options -> Advanced and check the "Disable VSS..." option to see if there is any difference. You can also click on the newly created pink squares to see what file(s) it belongs to (after analysing of course).
  22. AdBlockPlus I have tried it and it works, although slighty worse than in Firefox. I guess it will get improved over time.
