  1. These new versions of AVG and AVAST seem quite good to me. The interfaces aren't bad either considering how many people hate Win8's Metro Interface.
  2. I would like a more comprehensive information report after analysing a drive, just like the Windows Disk Defragmenter does: size of mt, space used, number of fragments (doable from file list) and so on. Another suggestion (maybe already suggested)... DEFRAG button should become QUICK DEFRAG by default. QUICK DEFRAG button should become DEFRAG FULL (comprehensive).
  3. Thanks thisisu for your comments. I am pretty sure JRT will become an essential tool. As for the leftover temp folder, it isn't really a big issue. As for the eruNT folder I also use eruNT so I guessed that folder was for backup purposes. About the whitelist thing, it seems a good idea. PS - I think a moderator should created a separate JRT Tool thread and merge the mess we are doing here. I feel we are derrailing this thread.
  4. +1 Yes, concurrent running (as Windows Defrag does) would be very handy for defragmenting different physical partitions (different disks) at once.
  5. It seems good too. Thanks for the heads up Hazelnut. Well I have tested the JRT tool Hazelnut posted and it is VERY SLOW running when compared to Xplode's one (It seems slightly more thorough though). On a negative note it deleted my Save Images Firefox extension (that it isn't junkware). And there is also a JRT leftover folder on the root drive of my Windows Installation after it finishes execution. There is also another leftover folder -> \Windows\ERUNT\JRT
  6. I haven't noticed anything weird with NoScript after using Xplode's util. On the other hand ADWCleaner is updated frequently. Maybe that NoScript issue is already fixed. And now that we are talking about NoScript and such. I think Avast aproach is a good idea because I have installed NoScript in some friends computers and they alwasy end up removing it, because they find its usage not very straightforward.
  7. For me the best toolbar cleaner is Xplode's ADWCleaner although it can be a little rough. AVAST is just reinventing the wheel, although I find very nice to have several options.
  8. I will steer clear from it so far. I am liking AVG over AVAST nowadays.
  9. I see that Avast has jumped from v 7.x to v 8. Has anyone tried this new 8.x version? As far as I can tell the installer looks different and may include some crapware...
  10. Aha, That's why my version isn't corrupted. Because it's not the ENGLISH version. It's the Spanish one. By the way, for those interested in knowing I installed it on a fresh XP install and it is still a memory hog. Uninstalled it, installed AVG 2013 and there was a lot free memory more upon startup. Other than that it performed quite well. EDIT: Could any moderator add the version numbering to the thread's title please... (4.2.223.0)
  11. Sounds great! keep up the good work. Thanks. Also, the new logo looks very "metroish" or "modernoish".
  12. You can check the file CRC with Total Commander for instance. I bet maybe 7-zip can do the same.
  13. Try defragging from the filelist. Regular defrag could take ages on some scenarios.
  14. Nope. I downloaded the XP and Seven versions and they were okay. I will try the XP version today on a newly formatted XP machine to see if it's better than previous versions, by the way.
  15. I guess it will get fixed eventually.
  16. Hello Harry. How are you defragging? I mean, are you using the defrag button or are you defragging from the filelist?
  17. Nice thanks. I see the issue where floppy drive get accessed when selecting any drive has not been addressed yet. The issue where the pagefile would not get displayed properly is fixed. The support for 3TB drives is also a good and welcome addition. Overall, v2.13 performs quite well and seems marginally faster than 2.12.
  18. Same here. I used to love Opera but its developers were so stubborn to fix certain pages that would load just fine under everything else but Opera. And then I fell in love with Firefox extensions. So I made the switch time ago and never looked back.
  19. Could anyone add the version number to the post title? That option is present under win7 too.
  20. Even if you deselect all crapware it still will create the two following registry entries (easily removed by Xplode's Adware cleaner): HKCU\Software\APN PIP HKLM\Software\PIP
  21. Yes. I think it only displays version for the current Operating System (using 7).
  22. Hey. Thanks for the heads up. Any changelog? According to MS download page there isn't any WinXP version. Maybe XP support was dropped.
  23. You may need to delete some Restore Points to reclaim space or better, activate the advanced option for stopping VSS services when defragmenting with DF.
