  1. I have set it to run when Windows starts. This program is very low on resources comsumption.
  2. After reading that article Hazelnut posted it seems the program must be running to do its job, right? Or is it the included HOSTS information enough?
  3. Well. I have installed it on three different PCs. Checked everything afterwards. It seems to do what is supposed to do. I have set it not to run automatically but on demand.
  4. Hello. I haven't tested this free program so I cannot tell whether is good or not. It seems its purpose is to automatically update hosts file for avoiding connecting to IPs reported as malware. Mirage Anti-Bot 3.0.2
  5. Defraggling really big files (like backups) may be a waste of time. You could corrupt data and the speed improvements might be minimal.
  6. Thanks. I think I will steer clear of versión 2.x until it reaches maturity.
  7. I have noticed a very weird behaviour on my PC after installing 2.0.2 - It seemed as if the boot process wasn't completed and clicking icons or shortcuts did nothing (as if cpu was at 100% usage). Maybe just a coincidence (I was testing Panda Cloud AV 3.0.0 too [seemed fine with MBAM 2.0.1 though) but I restored a backup I have made two days before and now it's all fine (but I haven't got MBAM installed now). Has anyone seen anything strange?
  8. Agreed. I ran it this morning and it still feels clumsier than 1.75
  9. I see no thread about MBAM. Just a quick heads up... v2.0.2.1012 is released Changelog
  10. If you are asking whether Defraggler do boot time files placement optimization or not (by following the prefetch/layout.ini rules) a la Windows defrag style. The answer is no. Defraggler doesn't do any boot files placement optimization.
  11. You need to defragment the $MFT (Master File Table) for NTFS filesystem. Alas, Defraggler can't do this, because Windows defragmentation API doesn't allow this. You will need a third party util to do this. The bad news is that most of them are paid but I think there is some Perfectdisc free edition or some other utils that can do this.
  12. Hello. I have been browsing all configuration options and I didn't see any option to disable the "drive performance calculation" data gathering. I am not interested on this and it's additional tear & wear on my drive, as well as annoying. It does it for my three partitions located on the same physical drive and it's showing different results on top of it.
  13. Agreed. If you intend on keeping XP you should use another AV product.
  14. WARNING: v.4.5.216.0 installer DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE UNDER WinXP.
  15. I have read that it's mostly patched now.
  16. Yes, the nag screen seems to affect XP users only. How nice of Microsoft reminding their XP customers that end-support cycle is near.
  17. Agreed. I used it today and the new interface is neat. On a negative note the Thread Scan took longer than usual to complete.
  18. Windows Update has silently updated MS Security Essentials from version 4.4.304.0 to version 4.5.216.0
  19. Thanks everyone for the links and insight. Good thing to know about XP, Hazelnut. I haven't deleted the older v7 installer yet.
  20. Not confirmed here. For me Quick Defrag is fast as always. v2.17.898 Win7 x64
  21. I would not defrag backups. You are playing with fire.
  22. Agreed. If you keep clicking NEXT like mad, without reading, you will end up with a lot of crapware installed into your computer. I have never had any issues opting out for the Google Toolbar thing while installing CC.

    Mozjpeg

For me JPEG is obsolete. I prefer PNG most of the time. I really doubt a lossless JPEG would take less space than its PNG counterpart, unless it's not really lossless.
