  1. Thanks. What a stupid way of invoking jump lists. It works for me 10% of the time. I have always hated gestures. PS - I have found out that right-click works better.
  2. Installed it yesterday. So far, no big issues. Start menu could be better though. Does anybody know if there is some way to use jumplists like w7/8 did?
  3. Like I said Windows built-in defragmenter does its job. There are other alternatives. Google for them.
  4. Defrag freespace is slightly bugged right now imho. Even windows disk defragmenter does a better job.
  5. Good advice but it's still odd with 32% free space.
  6. Andavari is right. I think it's not needed the hassle anymore.
  7. I have always thought that MS defragging API doesn't allow to fully defragment MFT at all. If you want to defrag MFT (mostly probably useless as Augeas points out) you will need a third party app.
  8. I am on the same boat as you. I deleted my Facebook account ages ago. I never looked back.

Thanks for the heads up. These guys are on a non-stop updating spree.
  10. I appreciate your concerns because we should tread lightly when using such software. But I haven't got your point yet. I have been using the software, along with a similar one AdwCleaner for a long time and didn't find anything malicious nor dangerous. That is not to say this software isn't without flaws though. I am not a programmer and I don't have anything to do with it at all. And yes, this software is french made. That could be a reason isn't so well-known worldwide. You cannot compare it to any other product from some big worldwide AV corporation. As always, your mileage may vary.
  11. Try doing the manual route. Boot with any external liveCD and check the file structure yourself for suspicious executables. Check the Documents and settings folder contents (users folder if you are running Vista and onwards). You could even try running an AV check from there. Some AV companies provide you with a "rescue" bootcd which enables you running their av from a livecd (commonly any Linux flavour). EDIT. Just to be safe, run a FULL SCAN (scan all files). it will take a lot of time more though.
  12. I agree with Hazelnut about JRT not displaying what it will be deleted. OTOH, I prefer standalone software of this type; I don't find it comfortable the need for installing any app like MBAM, prior to using it. That's why I prefer AdwCleaner and ZHP over MBAM. However, it's better to run several of them just to be on the safe side.
  13. So, is that Goanna rendering engine any better than Gecko?
  14. Try running AdwCleaner or ZHPCleaner. Refer to the parent forum for links and such.
  15. Agreed. Spartan sounds cooler.
  16. Indeed. Latest IE incarnations are not that bad. I still prefer third party browsers anyway. Keep in mind that upon the arrival of Windows 10, IE will be no more.
  17. I think PerfectDisk is still a good product and some of the few ones that allow you to defrag the $MFT and other NTFS structures. OTOH, it may be quite true that it has become a little bloated over the years. For regular, fast defrag, Defraggler is great and it's FREE.
  18. It was about time. I don't know why most av companies aren't flagging at least all those crappy "software".
  19. No. This software is legit and it's not malware. I know a version from some days ago it even targeted itself as malware (LOL) but it has been corrected now. That's not saying this software not having any flaws.
  20. The main issue with free space defrag is that it randomly works properly...
  21. Defrag freespace is currently bugged in my opinion. Your mileage may vary but it tends to create further fragmentation on some partitions even if defragmented before.
  22. Got it and reserved mine. I am really looking forward to W10.
  23. When installing certain software that comes bundled with OpenCandy, AVG alerted me about an OpenCandy DLL in Windows temporary folder. And it could be deleted if needed. Taking that action didn't stop the software from installing properly.
  24. I am now testing AVG and I am quite satisfied with it, specially after manually instructing it to warn about PUPs and other adware. It detects OpenCandy and such even at installation. As far as I know (and tested) neither MSE, nor Panda nor Avast will issue any warning.
