  1. This was asked about a few days ago with a couple of replies. See this topic: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=45345 After trying what's in the other topic you'll need to do one more thing: 1. Open CCleaner. 2. Click the Applications tab at the top. 3. Scroll down until you see Firefox. 4. Untick: Saved Passwords
  2. I wonder if they implemented such a feature if it wouldn't be breaking the license of Norton (or whoever else's antivirus software) since they Norton in this case will likely have a purchasable version capable of scanning all your PCs on a network.
  3. It explained XP too I clearly remember before I had a PC with it installed all the uproar on security related sites about it being spyware.
  4. I should clarify, that comment is based upon a base computer without adding additional security software or settings, and just relying upon an antivirus which isn't really much protection/security at all. I've read links Hazelnut linked in a topic not to long ago about 3rd party tools to turn off the junk in Win10, although I'm not willing to use any on my mothers laptop since well it isn't my computer and I don't know what I'd cripple, but if it were my computer I'd turn off allot of the spying aspects and especially the annoyances I encountered popping up when I removed that McAfee rubbish from the laptop she told Dell not to put on but they did anyway. Out-of-the-box any Windows computer regardless of OS version is very insecure, some tinkering is required to avoid being compromised, i.e.; HOSTS file, browser adblocking, SpywareBlaster, etc., and a computer with factory defaults doesn't use any of that other than antivirus. Layered security through 3rd party programs, but some tinkering in the OS settings is also needed although my tinkering would probably cripple a laptops Wi-Fi abilities.
  5. I've fully switched now to using uBlock Origin in both Firefox Portable and SRWare Iron Portable. The difference in page loading speeds is noticeably faster compared to Adblock Plus, in this case efficiency; page loading speeds, and less RAM consumption convinced me to switch.
  6. Microsoft has something on their pages that warns about using WinXP so they're probably doing the same for other non-Win10 machines, I blocked that ages ago using adblocking software when Win7 or Win8 came out when they started that annoyance notification rubbish. They just want people to use their newest spyware OS. I just recently replaced hardware to get my WinXP computer running again, and that old dog of a PC I think is more secure (even without monthly updates) the way I have it configured compared to my mothers brand new Dell laptop running Win10 which I view as insecure spyware.
  7. I knew about some of them, but never use any of them.
  8. Actually your system is using it all the time, even if you never open it yourself. Some programs require it to function (such as some antivirus, etc.,) and use the Temporary Internet Files ("cache") for updating, etc., some will even set Cookies using IE's engine.
  9. You also need to configure which Cookies to Keep, see here: http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/ccleaner-settings/choosing-which-cookies-to-keep
  10. Cleaned up your topic since it bothered you with those other non-related posts.
  11. That looks delicious. The pie that is, not the sheep.
  12. Part of the old CCleaner won't install topic mentions making sure CCleaner isn't running, so you mentioning closing Monitoring verifies at least that as one cause.
  13. @blue513 Try the Slim build (installer without Google), or the Portable build (zip without Google) from here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Member Trium had posted a few days ago to try installing without an Internet connection. Here's some other won't install solutions: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=5739
  14. If people didn't have enough memory they'll never remember that.
  15. Those are the ones stating the planet is only a few thousand years old.
  16. That's been a problem with Windows Defender ("Microsoft Security Essentials") for a long time, it can cause some software to start very slow. But some other antivirus can also cause it; Avira Free Antivirus, Panda Free Antivirus, etc.
  17. Simple really Adblock Plus fan being I've used it the longest. That and it took me almost a year to figure this bit of info out that was breaking most adblocking software in Chrome/Chromium browsers: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=45274
  18. Go back far enough and everyone is related, i.e.; humanity originated out of Africa which was scientifically proven.
  19. Screenshot using picture formats, such as JPG, etc. Or a text document with the paths.
  20. I'd like to suggest a drive map color for excluded items. For instance I exclude Macrium Reflect image files *.mrimg on all drives since there's no point to defrag them as it would take forever, however it would be nice if a color was associated with the exclusions.
  21. That works with allot of software that technically shouldn't be called freeware but adware instead. It thwarts OpenCandy, etc.
  22. Check your antivirus logs, some will silently block files or delete them without notifying, I had a recent run in with that with Avira and a false positive. Also check your firewall logs because during setup CCleaner supposedly phones home to make sure you're installing the newest version.
  23. It is as I've used both. uBO allows for faster page loading from what I've noticed when on YouTube. Although I personally use Adblock Plus.
  24. I think your solution was posted by mta a few posts up: You can download Slim or Portable builds at: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  25. The only thing with uninstalling is all settings will be lost - not much of an issue unless you have tons of sites in the Cookies to Keep list.
