  1. I haven't tried it however I've always noticed it on PortableApps.com. Another alternative on XP is SRWare Iron Portable, the newest version and download can be found on their forums here (instead of their download site), always located at the very top of the forum page: http://www.srware.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=18 ----------- That SRWare Iron Portable and myself just today saved my mother $600 dollars. She thought a website she uses for her sewing required Windows 10 so she bought a new $600 laptop computer yesterday. That isn't what the error page said, it merely didn't support Firefox not even the newest version however it does support Chrome/Chromium which SRWare Iron is based upon.
  2. Since Opera is based upon Chrome/Chromium see if this helps: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=40285
  3. Hint: The post could've been easily moved and the OP informed! The info you're needing: 1. Go to the first post in the winapp2.ini topic here that was made by the person maintaining the file named Winapp2.ini: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32310&p=175835 2. Click the Spoiler "Show" button under "ADVANCED USAGE AND TRIMMING" to open the instructions in it. 3. Follow the instructions in it. By following those instructions it will remove cleaners you have no use for (i.e.; software that you don't have installed) from the winapp2.ini file making it significantly smaller and allowing CCleaner to load and operate faster.
  4. The way it should be in my opinion instead of being stuck in proprietary land making one company a huge amount of money.
  5. I'm with you on that, perhaps we're both OCD when it comes to that (then again I have well over 2000 audio CDs which are all perfectly alphabetized)! I've always wanted ccleaner.ini to also be alphabetized.
  6. You need to configure which cookies to keep, see here: http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/ccleaner-settings/choosing-which-cookies-to-keep
  7. It's not cleaned by CCleaner by default. In order to clean it you can grab the cleaner from the community winapp2.ini file located here: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32310&p=175835
  8. Some anti-malware states the site as malicous, albeit only one of them which I've never heard of on VirusTotal. Here's the URL and file scan report: https://www.virustotal.com/en/url/17de7419e603292b169473358b7e668fdc64f4476dcba116c4ccabdda8c8cb07/analysis/1445718259/
  9. MVPS HOSTS file updated 22 October 2015. URL: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
  10. If you're seeing files with ZZZ in the name you must have ran Drive Wiper/Wipe Free Space on that external drive, and if those files are still present it means that the wipe process was interrupted or cancelled. Unfortunately files with ZZZ in the name created by CCleaner were securely overwritten by CCleaner meaning you won't be able to recover those files unless you have another backup copy of them on some other backup medium such as DVDs, USB Thumb Drive, etc.
  11. It's popular and I have no ill thoughts against it, but it's not the choice of users or moderators on the forums. It's unofficial for one simple fact it's a software not developed or published by Piriform, therefore they can't guarantee it, etc. And per the Piriform owner he doesn't even want it mentioned on his forums... ...so don't be surprised if this topic disappears.
  12. I wonder why so many "so-called cleaning tools" still target that file after over 12 years of causing users grief upon its removal.
  13. In order to get help you'll be asked to first remove CCEnchancer since it isn't supported by Piriform.
  14. That would be the opposite of download hosting sites. And a freeware AV is better than no AV at all.
  15. Possibly a left-over version specific registry key from the previous version of Foxit Reader, or a folder left in an Application Data folder.
  16. That can happen if you plug a USB drive into a different USB port. When I run into that wishing for it to be mapped to a particular drive letter (because I use batch files that point to a particular drive letter) I always manually change it using the freeware Nirsoft DriveLetterView.
  17. The Like function is disabled on the forums.
  18. I've never used one. I always use Microsoft ergonomic keyboards, and for the last 12 years Microsoft USB wireless ergonomic keyboards. I can't type fast on non-ergonomic keyboards anymore.
  19. That's why I had to re-download the portable ZIP because I have CCleaner automatically delete all of its own lang DLLs because I've no use for them. Edit: Had to re-download to get the SHA-1 to look it up on Jotti.
  20. On VirusTotal 1/59 scanners is detecting: lang/lang-1059.dll Jotti says it's clean: https://virusscan.jotti.org/en-US/filescanjob/115b6lab2r
  21. Putting an upgrade advertisement/banner or link in the programs probably doesn't sway too many freeware users either. I would think so many freeware users are using the free versions for the fact don't have to put up with registering, or don't have the money for annual licensing.
  22. Have you tried in CCleaner: 1. Options > Exclude > Add (button) 2. Then choose Drive or Folder, and browse to where the extensions are stored and exclude that whole Extensions folder, example (I'm assuming here now since I use SRWare Iron Portable a Chrome/Chromium clone and don't know if the paths under profile are the same): G:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\Default\Extensions It's interesting that it's deleting your extensions because CCleaner doesn't touch my extensions in SRWare Iron Portable which CCleaner sees and deems Chrome.
  23. Yeah but if they come with some browser "add-on" like some "safe searching add-on or toolbar", etc., as many have in the past you have to be extra careful to not even install those "add-ons" because often they're not even developed by the antivirus companies and therefore can operate outside of their so-called privacy settings and privacy policies.
