  1. What the heck - a thread derail already? Okay, if that's how things are done here. I wanted to apologize for my second point. After about 20 reboots and one app install (the new Mail and Calendar update) the Most Used and Recently Added lists finally started updating again. So apparently it takes a REALLY long time to start up again after CCleaner clears those lists. It would almost be better if CCleaner could restore these lists to the defaults you see on a new account. Another thing I did which I heard could help fix the problem of empty Most Used/Recently Added lists was rebuild and restart the File Search Indexer.
  2. Hello, first time poster. I think I can trace two bugs I experienced to CCleaner, but I have no desire to live through it again so I cannot duplicate it. 1. Within the last week, I upgraded my two laptops from Windows 8.1 (with well-used, several yr. old accounts) to Windows 10 Home. I'd been running CCleaner and deleting almost everything on the left side of the panel (all Microsoft products) that it found for the last year-two on both Win8.1 machines, followed by a registry scan and clean without putting too much thought into it. Which is probably the problem, I failed to consider the repercussions. After trying this sort of maintenance on Windows 10, I rebooted and was welcomed to a user account where nearly 25% of the ModernUI apps installed crashed instantly and closed themselves. It took me a long time wrangling with PowerShell to uninstall, reinstall, redownload and reactivate apps, deleting a registry key or two, and copying files from another working computer before the apps operated properly again. The other computer I had to (chose to?) reload from backup and start the upgrade process all over again, it was so well hosed. Not to offend anyone - been a long supporter of CCleaner Free Edition - but perhaps the Windows 10 installer removes CCleaner for a reason? The Windows registry definitely seems much more sensitive now to registry cleaners, and it looks like it's all ModernUI's fault. Not sure why I didn't see it more with Win8.1 apps?! --- 2. Even without running a CCleaner registry cleanup, there's some combination of settings on the Windows tab of the temp. file Cleaner function that, after Cleaner has been run, causes Start Menu corruption to the point where Most Used and Recently Added lists do not appear, or when Most Used does appear, it is stuck with Snipping Tool and Sticky Notes no matter how many other apps are used and how often. I think it has to do with enabling Advanced Windows cleaning settings like Menu Order Cache, Tray Notifications Cache, or Window Size/Location cache. I've tried a few registry settings but I haven't figure out a solution to this yet. The solution is NOT as easy as going to Settings->Personalize->Start and toggling the various settings there. If anyone figures out a fix that isn't "do a System Restore" or "do a System reload" - perhaps it can be fixed in a new version of CCleaner? - please let me know ASAP! I don't have much proof but it seems there's a few others experiencing this: https://www.reddit.com/r/windows/comments/3jhodh/windows_10_start_menu_most_used_and_recently/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3x84ig/how_do_i_make_my_start_menu_display_most_used/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3g2wxh/start_menu/ Sorry if this has been written about already, if so please move my post to the appropriate thread, thanks.
