  1. No, ccleaner is not creating these (or any) files. Ccleaner uses a identify and remove techniques with hardcoded locations from which it detects if a software is there or not. If the detected location is found then a hardcoded set of disc locations and registry entries are removed directly; they are not moved to any temporary location first.
  2. Safari (for windows) is highly out of date. Will never be updated again and has been abandoned by Apple. If anything has let security lapse on your machine, it's still allowing that browser to remain on your pc. Internet Explorer/Edge are used by any number of applications, as well as windows by itself. Uninstalling updates for the browsers is definitely not the way to go as, again, you open yourself up to malware attacks. As far as AVG warning constantly, that sounds a bit like you've a Malware problem (some combo of Trojan and open backdoor perhaps) you really should immediately 1) cease using Safari 2) visit a Qualified Anti-malware website such as those listed in item 10 of https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showannouncement=15&f=4
  3. On the provided screenshot only a few files are fragmented which are creating a large drive fragmentaion. It's likely those are large files sharing blocks spread all over the drive, thus (though the other files are not fragmented) defraggler may be having to move a bunch of files just to defrag one of those large ones. This maybe including trying to move large files which have yet to be touched inorder to touch the file it's currently working on. Try the defragment those files in the per file defragmenter tab (file list tab).
  4. Hi I've removed every bit of this thread's text. Why, why have I taken this action? Because it is very impolite to have a political discussion on this board. Keep it friendly y'all.
  5. Recuva does come with a lang folder, perhaps yours was initially removed so none was made If you download portable recuva and extract 1036.dll (french/france) into a lang folder in recuva's program folder If you wish other languages besides french/france here is a link, the last (right most) number in the table should correspond with the dll file for the language you want. By default though, all language files should be installed already. https://www.piriform.com/recuva/builds (Link added: thanks hazelnut)
  6. Which antivirus do you use? Some antivirus grab ccleaner's installer because the bundled google software. Second have you tried downloading to a local file ("save", not "save and run" or "run") and the (by right clicking the downloaded file) "Run as Admin"
  7. Ok, the three line that say detect, find those registry keys (in your registry) and delete the keys. This will remove from ccleaner. The issue here is that the HandBrake's uninstaller is inefficient and doesn't remove all traces. That said, , the developers need to remove from ccleaner detect and detect2. tracing keys are not effective discovery locations.

    Overwritten file

It can, but you'll likely end up with an unusable file, depending on what parts are overwritten.
  9. They aren't included in the fragmentation count, but if they share blocks with non-excluded files the latter will not be defragmented.
  10. Free version does not autoupdate, only inform you of an update. then it takes you to the official download page (edit: by way of offering the pro version, it seems, but look at the page and you'll find what you need to continue to the free version). Pro version autoupdates and can do it "silently" if set to do so. Your version is, roughly, ten months old (both the free and paid version use the same ver # and both are indeed 5.18 as of this posting). While it is not essential to update, the reasons I described in the previous post above should be reason enough for a normal user to update. updates come on a fairly strict monthly basis, barring large bugs which make the program unusable/dangerous - though, it should be noted, I can remember this only occurring 1 time in my entire experience using ccleaner. If one does encounter a bug, while using an old version, s/he will be hardpressed to receive any aid from this community forum or developer's support site until/unless s/he updates to the latest and can recreate the bug on said version.
  11. Depends on your definition of "need" but in order to ensure that browsers are properly cleaned, and to avoid bugs that may have existed in older versions of ccleaner, it's probably wise to update
  12. huh? For what entry. Please provide the edited or new entry.
  13. Link removed. What you are doing breaks the software license. You should remove these downloads as I have pointed the developers to this unauthorized download
  14. chrome uses specialkey to detect, export won't help
  15. Microsoft maybe is autologging you into mva, if skypeuser@outlook.com is also your sign-in account for the windows user.
  16. @dvdbane, please read the thread before answering we're talking about the changelog's mention of "better detection" and whether that change is causing his issue: the appearance of Chrome in ccleaner when only portable version is used and no customlocation in use.
  17. I really have only dug a few videogame franchises but Mass Effect is definitely in that list so (sparse as it was) I ate up the new behind the scenes teaser, but I won't be happy (on that subject) until I actually sit down with it.
