Cookie Bug???? I think all you really need to do is exclude C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Temp\Cookies\*.dat for each of your {USERNAMES} that'll be running CCLEANER

If you're using vista you'll need to manually exlcude C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Temp\Cookies\*.dat for each user one the computer that'll be using CCleaner Ccleaner is deleting this file even if you have ALL of internet explorer unchecked

Try the following things Recuva After Using Ccleaner and after using Eraser Not posting in forums in text so large that it's members want to hurt you

Currently, even with the entire IE section unchecked CCleaner is deleting all of the files located in the following places: %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Temp\Cookies\ %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Temp\History\History.ie5\ %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Temp\Temporary internet Files\Content.ie5\ I believe that this is on it's way toward being fixed, however until then you can exclude the dat files in these locations Turn off Hide Protected Operating System files in Folder Options/View Options/Exclude in CCleaner (The Following must be done for each Location above and for each User Profile, separately as The Exclude and Include sections do NOT seem to honer %Variables% ) Click Add file Navigate to the locations above and choose the Index File located in the folder When Finished Turn Hide Protected Operating System files in Folder Options/View back on.

OI #1 there is no buying it's a freeware program #2 We're all just users of the product not per se technical support #3 This post, and the previous post you made, neither really tell us what you mean by "slower than it was" What did you use? the cleaner or the registry integrity? What did you remove? What is slower? the internet? the entire computer? Turning on the computer? shutting down the computer? What version of Ccleaner did you use? Have you restarted the computer before or after running the restore registry. Did you follow the best practices for registry cleaning (see my signature) or did you just say clean everything? what is reg cure and did you run it at the same time as CCleaner? As you can see all this thread and your previous has done is put us in a question not an answer.\ May-haps you should be right and tell us the things you did remove. oh and in case i didn't make it clear, read my signature

I don't understand what this poster is asking for to be added to CCleaner and/or how it ties into Ccleaner's mission

Windows will recreate desktop.ini files immediatly, if it bothers you to see them: a) Hide system files (in windows explorer) or exclude them from ccleaners search (cCleaner, options, exclude)

Hi just to follow up on what hazel so adeptedly said, you should probably onlyt remove from the registry the stuff you are 99% sure you don't want. . . for instance if you installed program A and didn't like it so you uninstalled it, then when you ran CCleaner you see one (or more) entrie(s) referring to Program A it's ok to remove them (again make sure to make back ups) best practice is to heed my signature, and (bTW) good for you for checking the forum first and reading some of what we had to say. well don't fault all of CCleaner for this one aspect. Other than wipefree which is in it's infantile stage, CCleaner's great. Were you using the newest version? MR. RON maybe it can be removed and just given to us advanced users in a special build to test till we too can get it to break and report to you to outcome (Again Mine did fine on a 250GB with 145 Free but I left it for a while.) again I must say Wipe is not ready for prime time (maybe it needs it's own app and let us debug it first ) Hi all I've been gone for a bit LOL

Turn off Cleaning of Index dats (or exclude the dat in the cookies folder) and Cookies (you may also have to exclude your flash cookies forlder depending of the Site) (Love the new site look with the Piriform pear color )

Yes this is the reason (esp b/c it happens to you at reboot) uncheck index.dat

Tia, this seems to be occurring to many users. You are correct to have a bit of worry about canceling where it is now, and if you do so the first thing you'll notice is your drive has lost a huge amount of free space. What Wipe Freespace has done is it has created a huge temporary file at the root of the wiped drive. Many users have found that if they cancel The wipe and then go and permanently delete the file (Shift+Delete) they gain their freespace back. I do not know if this is the currently accepted action and you may wish to wait for another user/moderator to sound off as well (Esp. Davey, Hazelnut, or Dennis). The following is a Note more aimed toward the developers: As you can see This new feature "wipe free space" has caused a GREAT number of issues. Many are like this poster's where it gets "stuck" at 100% I believe that this is due to Windows' issues with Deleting overly large files. Two way I can see to get around this: 1) Many Freespace wipers make a number of smaller Temp files instead of rolling the wiped space into one overly sized file (sometimes 500+GB). This may stop this from occurring in the "frozen state" 2) Remove Freespace wipe. Look, I know people cried and cried for it, but many of us "power users" and forum frequenters called this a unnecessary addition to CCleaner and one that would end up causing issues (as it has). We love cCleaner for it's simplicity and, while we are glad that the addition of this feature means the developers at Piriform are listening to their forum members (something not often seen in the freeware world), this just doesn't fit with cCleaner's purpose; Maybe Defraggler's, maybe Recuva's, maybe even as it's own product (though in any of these cases my first suggestion should come to mind).

Yes IWinPwdSvc is Norton/Symantec, I've said it before and it bears repeating: Antivirus Programs will often NOT identify themselves to the registry in the way cCleaner looks for indentfication, this is to stop Viruses and Malware from mucking up your antivirus program. Please read my Signature
