  1. I don't understand "or something" 1) What email program do you use 2) Did you do a registry Clean? or just the file Clean? if you just did the file clean, did you change any of the checks from their default? 3) Are you sure that it's just not your AUTOFILL that is now empty? (did the names usually come up when you start to type them i.e. type jo and joeschmu@hotmail.com would appear)
  2. I agree with Yokenny Not only is there the check for updates but there's also a option that with "phone home" and tell you if there is a new version. Personally I think those are enuff Auto-Updating makes sense if you have a program that might have security issues that need patching (Quicktime, Java, Windows, MACOS) not ones that are just bettering themselves (CCleaner, Nirsoft Programs, Sysinternals Programs) Also many many Users of cCleaner are Professional/Semi-Pro Tech Support and need to run ccleaner in a get in get out manner. Also Many people don't appreciate it when a program you want to run right away say "oh sorry you can't run me yet, I'm updating" Sorry, Just my Opinion
  3. Are you still using Zone Alarm? If so don't get rid of the reg entry. Please read my signature for more information
  4. Yup I just reported it. it's a smart bot though: Other Posts include http://forum.meebo.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&a...=114174#p114174 and http://forums.motortrend.com/70/7380965/th...-100/index.html
  5. AFAIK the developers are not currently doing windows 7, as it is still in beta and is prone to being changed in the areas CCleaner Monitors.
  6. I too had issues using ccleaner to remove (uninstall) Citrix but luckly was able to uninstall it with the Programs Control Panel on Vista32. Please let us know what you learn when you resolve this

    Best for XP

Keep updating, the devs still mostly are XP and there's still a lot of users who are, plus it works with all Windows so no worries there mostly updates add new programs or fix flaws. Not really adding much to the actual windows cleaner part
  8. Well, just uncheck those sections then. The Hotfix remover section is for when you are sure you don't need them anymore. I (before vista changed things) would usually only check this section off right before the next batch of Hotfixes (so after I'd been running with the fix for 30 days). Logs I keep so I just keep that unchecked. Hope that helped answer yer question.
  9. Ok cool glad that's all cleared up I had confusion glad I wasn't the only one. For anyone reading this Thread in the future The Long and Short of it is this in xp (and Vista and probably win7) You can expand "My Documents" this shows the ACTUAL files in your MyDocuments Folder (NOT LINKS LIKE IN RECENT DOCUMENTS BELOW IT)
  10. What?!?!?! Whyever would you want CCleaner to delete your "My Documents" folder ?!?!?!? You want to get rid of them Manually delete them. Ccleaner Cleans the Refuse that Windows Leaves Behind. . . Do realize how many people'd be mad if they ran CCLeaner and their My Documents folder was empty???? Oh goodness I'm going to Throw Up just thinking about it (My apolo to the Moderators but really Poster deserved it )
  11. Also Post the "4) Save the issues list to a text file" Here so we can see what it is that is being cleaned That said (other than in this case maybe) Read my Signature

    Norton/Symantec

Are you saying this happened after running CCleaner? If not, I'm not sure what this has to do with this forum? If so, did you run the Reg cleaner and did you just willy Nilly? Read my Signature and reinstall Norton/Symantec
  13. map is in the dat files (which requires a restart)
  14. Hi, welcome to the forum. Yes most people will see a large number like you did the first time they run the Cleaner. lnk refers to shortcut files found in your MRU (Most Recent) files folders. It is perfectgly safe to delete them, it won't touch the actual file (filename.doc.lnk will be deleted but filename.doc will still be there) when that part is removed your documents menu in the start menu will be empty (won't show the last files you opened) the reason you see filename.lnk instead of filename.doc.lnk (I would suppose) is that you have your computer hiding know file extensions
  15. It's very Obvious if you do a slow careful custom install and tell it not to install it. Piriform need to make money some how to provide us with the wonderful free tools they give us. Bundling a well known and safe (though annoying) toolbar is the way they see best to make money with out charging us. Instead "strongly recommend"ing something to a developer that has been nothing but wonderful to you, why not strongly take control of your computing skills and PAY ATTENTION when installing anything (Java and Acrobat Reader bundle too; did you go yell at Sun and Adobe for this???). Not only that, but Piriform has nicely (probably to the chagrin of yahoo) built not one Two version that don't carry the Toolbar: Slim and Portable. HAHA The Old Nergal returns for an Encore
  16. I does but it requires a computer restart (or maybe just a user logoff I don't know) to take effect
  17. As Davey said It's Does it by Default, however there may be pages you want to keep the settings for for instance I hate having to reset the Volume settings for Youtube and NPR so I have added, in my exclude, the Following C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\P5AK3G5U\l.yimg.com\*.sol to get *.sol (wildcard) Choose one of the .sol files (for instance COSMOSPrefs.sol) in the folder. save the exclude file and manually change the CCleaner.ini file to have * if the place of COSMOSPrefs.

  19. Maybe it's a language Barrier But I don't understand. You Run CCleaner, It works You Run SAS and it finds No Malware What exactly is the Problem?
  20. Dave, welcome to the forum. There is no Non-Free Version. Backup is only available for the Registry Section as the Cleaner Section only removes The Crap left behind from programs. The same holds for the Scan for issues button (it's only in the Registry section). In the cleaner section you should see an analyse button and a clean button. Are you sure that it's trying to delete the actual picture files you downloaded and not the links in the "recent" folder By this I mean C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office\Recent\December 08.xls.LNK this is not deleting the December 08.xls it is only removing the shortcut file in my recent folder (the "LNK" is the clue) You can save the cookies you want to keep, by going to Options Cookies and moving the ones you want to the right hand pane. Most cookies are useless tracking cookies sending (anonymously) the likes of Google and 2o7.net your browsing habits so they can "better" target their Adverts. You can Exclude specific things (like your YouTube Preferences) using the Include/Exclude section of the Options e.g: putting "C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\P5AK3G5U\www.youtube.com\SoundData.sol" into the Exclude will make sure that your sound volume on youtube will always remain pumped to the max after running CCleaner
  21. I Believe that, unlike MSUpdates, ie needs to keep it's update unistallers to function/update correctly later. The MSUpdate unistallers are not needed by the OS after the update is confirmed.
  22. As davey started, CCleaner only cleans the system drive (unless using includes) so I'm not sure why it is trying to clean something on drive F, unless it is your system drive. On the same tip of includes you can use excludes to tell CCleaner not to clean your protected files. If turning off Recycyle Bin doesn't work: Try Turn off all check marks, and slowly adding each check mark one-by-one and running clean (after each check mark) until the message comes up, please then report back with which box it was so we can help more. EDIT: is F a hidden drive (such as one made by TrueCrypt)?

    KB960714 problem

"a site" again not very helpful I'll try to be a little more helpful (which'll be hard because I use a different cleaner for my IE trails) but as the patch was quickly rolled out it may take the developers a short while to find and fix the form data cleaner. If the newest update (2.15) does not clean the data you can be pretty sure that one of the next ones (2.16 or 2.17) will. Until that time it may be a good idea to 1) turn off auto complete (in IE7 tools > internet Options > Content > Autocomplete Settings> uncheck forms) or 2) manually clear form data with the same regularity you run CCleaner (in IE7 tools>delete browsing history>delete forms) or 3) switch Cleaners for ie settings (I use IE Privacy Keeper from www.browsertools.net) Hope one of these solutions works as a band-aid/or even a complete fix The Newer Nicer Nergal di Cuthah
  24. Chrome and Opera are supported in the latest builtin INI so no special needs (do you have a custom install location?) Chrome and Opera Max is supported in winapp2.ini which can be gotten here Or create your own winapp2
