  1. Problem 1. Don't do that. Follow my signature advice See Problem 1. . . also CCleaner doesn't delete anything unless you tell it to Problem 2 personally I wouldn't use ANY registry Cleaner on Windows 7 until official world wide release as MANY registry entries are bound to be differently handled in Windows 7 and so it should be properly and completely vetted by Programmers before drastic things like reg cleaning are done My snarkyness (Though absolutely honest and Importantly TRUE) aside this answer is right on the money. If you've been running a {Gasp Ewwww} daily clean and don't have reg backups from those you need NEVER to do a reg clean again. I don't believe CCleaner did this but. . . see part 3 of my answer. And for goodness sake read and follow my signature it'll save your life the next time this happens (or the first time as I don't think CCleaner did this) WHY ARE you doing daily reg fixes
  2. winapp2 is mostly a guidline to get you started twistedmetal says he's found little to update in it However you are always welcome to place your ini additions and, recently a topic was added for just that purpose. Metal says he plans on doing another set of changes at some point but has yet to do it. Note Winapp2 on this forum is a user created and maintained thing, not Official Piriform
  3. You don't have to keep installing it, and I see no reason why you would think you did. I also can forsee sooo many problem arising from cleaning SOMEONE ELSE's user
  4. Besides which Priform offers two version of all their software that come without the bundleware that helps them keep CCleaner, recuva, and defragger FREE If they charged you I'm sure you'd moan too
  5. Everyone has such beautiful answers it's a shame to ruin the fun but . . . I think This is the way for the OP to go http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=14936 If you aren't the IT person (johnny) then get them to set that up

    ccleaner

Cookies Are plain text and can read read in Notepad but they won't give you much info as to what the site/issuer is You can use ieCookieView from Nirsoft http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/iecookies.html or if you use Firefox http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mzcv.html in Mozilla Cookies View
  7. mmmm I block it via host file and my Passport (I refuse the live id term it's silly My idea no id live LOL) works fine
  8. Mine's still got MS Live search in the list maybe it's the name bing, but again Shouldn't be there until site is contacted :-/ can you do me a favor and check your add remove and make sure MSN or Bing tool bar aren't there (Bundled with Lastest Java and Flash so maybe accindenly installed it) else maybe, MSN Chat (what ever they call it these days) is Starting automagically, I use Miranda and have turned Live chat off from starting at bootup Run Cports and see if anyone (errr I mean program) is calling out to the Microsoft IP addresses. I'll watch this topic to keep on helping
  9. Where are you finding these cookies? are they in C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files or C:\Users\{USername}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies I don't have these cookies However I also don't have live search or Bing as my default search in IE. Could it be that? Could it be an installed (though not activated) MS Search IEtoolbar? I also don't have that
  10. Download the Embedded ini files from this thread open WinApp.ini in a text editor Search for your program (Ctrl+F) open regedit and remove the keys listed under Detect=
  11. Currently, Starting with ie8 Explorer started to keep many dats (Including the cookies dat) C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Temp\Cookies\index.dat Ccleaner sees this as C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\Temp\ and thus as temp and cleans it unless you exclude it why MS made this Daft change I don't know, but they did. Sadly this also means you need to exclude the file for each and every user on your computer who is going to clean as the exclude section has yet to recongnize %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Temp\Cookies\*.dat
  12. Yup I'm with ePost on this one This is a classic USR iZ @n 1d10t error and really he (and you dear reader) should follow the simple directions in my Signature. in fact, to his credit, he even admits the fault was in him Overzealous
  13. Can you point me to where in the forum this is outlined (TaskManager setup) I must have missed this post and it sounds as if it is not actually connecting as the user you are (the one with the recycle bin file)

    Defraggler

This is oft discussed 3rd party Defrag programs create a restore point on Vista + http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=118622 I miss my friend Davy
  15. Meh if it hadn't been posted I'd never've noticed. I have to say as this has no impact on the function of the program, i can't see it as too high a priority. . . but I'm a form<function kinda guy.

    Enigma

Ummm you answered your own enigma with your picture (Hint, read what it says under the progress bar)
  17. To add to what hazel and Dennis have ALREADY stated. ALL registry cleaners find valid registry entries. this is not the fault of the cleaner but instead either poor programing by the program which wrote to the registry in the first please or (more often) purposfully done by said writing program (As in the case of Antivirus antimalware) Really it is not the fault of either the cleaner program or the Writing Program but the user of the cleaner. Thus it is you who is dangerous to the registry. From now on follow my signature with any registry "fixer" "cleaner"
  18. As a Long time Palm User I can be of great service on this question However, I must say that CCLeaner does not have palm desktop in it's list of things it cleans Are you on XP or Vista? What version of Palm Desktop are you using (4.x 6.2 ?) I'll put a watch on this topic So that I will be informed that you have responded. Also please (if you have not already) place ccleaner to save settings in the ini file (under options advanced I believe and paste the contents of the ini file in your response) Cheers, from a Mytreo.net Moderator
  19. Guys, Not every build (i.e. 993 - .999) is going to have a seperate Embedded INI Also the Embedded that are given here, have nothing to do with the function of the program, as I've alreadysaid they are there for purely informational purposes
  20. Recuva and CCleaner say it right at the top of the screen and Defragler has it where most programs do in The About screen (help>About or Options>About tab)
  21. CCleaner has always been fairly regualrly updated, and you can look at the changelog to see that, however all versions are stable and those few things that are instable/irregular with them are the exact reasons to upgrade. CCleaner will continue to work great for your XP machine throughout these updates and it's suggested to keep updating along with it.
  22. Huh? I think you think I'm saying something I'm not. You asked why the embedded were not included in the installation and I postulated as to why that was. It had nothing to do with the unopening zip file. You had said "if they are so important" they aren't they are informational onlyt. that said Yes it's called programming Before the ccleaner program is compiled into a program it is a number of different files, these files include the data that is known as winapp.ini, winsys.ini, winreg.ini. it used to be that these files were not intgrated into the file known as ccleaner.exe if you deleted these files ccleaner.exe would (in the past) show no programs/system/registry. We (the users) asked for it to be possibe to make ccleaner even more slim so they started to include the files inside the exe thus no longer needed to give them to us. Mr. T provides these files to us as a service (for the reasons I explained above) His zipping methods are a mystery to me and I'm not to concerned with it I know he's doing his best to fix it, and most of us who actually need/want to download it can (and do) use an alternate browser to get it. old Nergal coming out so, in order to honor requests made to me by Moderators, I'll leave it at that.
  23. They are included, they are inside the actual exe thus the word embedded. The only reason they are posted here is so a) The Advanced Members here can point to actual Parts of the program when a questioner says why isn't x program included, when it really is So someone can see all the programs covered by CCleaner without every five seconds us getting the question "can you please list all the programs" c) to show a person how to create and winapp2, a winsys2 or a winreg2 d) so people (like me) can occasionally delete entires in their win*2.ini files as those things are added to the embedded exe so they are here for information. Including them would a) add unneeded bloat to the CCleaner program (they aren't needed because it's already inside the exe) Confuse people (and have a lot of questions like "What is this embedded ini zip" or "do I need to keep these ini files, what do they do"
  24. the full list is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge download the embedded winapp and read it
