  1. Hello LUIK, DID you also Check box to show Mozilla/Fierfox details .This will get you around the "BUG" davey
  2. Hello, Could be some very large temporary files waiting to be deleted. Are you uncheckinig the "only delete temp files over 48 hrs old" option. There are also some files that are not deleted until the next reboot. This is a restriction caused by Windows software installed by Microsoft. This option is under Options> Advanced The first option. Try unchecking this box then run Cleaner function. Also recommend checking boxes for IE details listing and Mozilla/Firefox details listing. There is also a REPORTED "bug" that can cause the figures not too match.Checking the boxes as listed on the line above gets around this "bug". Good Luck, davey Dont pass on reading Beginners GUIDE http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/ .
  3. Hi again, Don't worry about Cause #2 right now. I would follow the advice you were given about getting down to one monitor. First thing go to Services and make sure Plug and Play is started and on Automatic. Click on Safely Remove Hardware Icon in task notifications area to see what it displays. Click on References to any extra Monitors other than the one you are going to use. Unplug unused Monitors. Then go to Device Manager and click on Display Adaptors, Right click on first one and click on Uninstall. Click on Action on tools bar and click on Search for New Hardware. Click on Restart when pop-up window comes up. Let restart into normal mode. You may get messages.Reply accordingly. If you end up in a Wizard reply "No not this time "when you see it and keep going. You may also get a lot of "new hardware found messages " .This is normal. Restart will be a little longer than normal. Go to Device Manager again.. Do same thing with Monitor as you did with Display Adapter earlier except this time you will not get pop-up window. This may work a little different on you system. Now why are you needing to restart in safe mode? If it is still necessary, do next step. Now try reboot into Safe Mode. Your screen is going to look weird until you reboot again. Come back and fill us in. davey Clickety-click,Clickety-click,Clickety-click......
  4. JDPower, I am really puzzled now.Maybe I'm just "dense" this morning. This is what the Registry looked like before running Cleaner function with User Assist History checked. This what it looked like after running Cleaner function with User Assist History checked. Registry function was not run. This is what it looked like after a Restart.I also ran a few programs before looking at Registry. davey
  5. How about asking for WINDOWS XP SP3? Just a thought! davey

    GAME DATA

Hi karinhere, Do a WINDOWS Search from the Start menu.Enter "luck" OR "charm" or 'delux" for your search.Search "all files and folders" Select the advanced search option for "search all system files and hidden folders".You may just find that file name you are looking for. Otherwise there are many "gamers" on this forum that will probably come up with the file name for you. Good Luck, davey
  7. Hi DennisD, I'M BACK!!! "Your in a heap a trouble now, boy." Gonna be lotsa newbies like me postin' and replyin'. I have been reviewing your post and I have been to the ImageSpeech website. I tried Applet upload but it said my browser doesn't allow it.I already have the latest version of SUN Java. I use IE7 so I guess I'm going to need some sort of Screen Capture program so I can do Upload From PC.. Thats why I provided this link for other users. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=13952 I picked Faststone Capture 5.3 also. I used your link to download the last Free Version.I clicked on Extract files. Then clicked on the Icon to install it with the Wizard. http://www.aplusfreeware.com/categories/mm...oneCapture.html Now I am going to learn how to use Faststone Capture 5.3 . That's a neat looking Icon . Wonder what it does? This is challenging and fun at the same time. Hope I am taking the right baby steps. Imagine all those other users following behind.I don't want anybody getting lost following me.So keep me on the right track. In the meanwhile you will be able to adjust, modify or update your original Post as I go along. Thanks again for the help and to all the contributing members, davey
  8. BTW what happens if you just hit enter after the screen goes black. Although you might not want to.If you have done all that searching then you already know what Cause #2 is. Don't forget to fill us in with your system info. This may attract someone who has been through the problem. davey
  9. Hi darkslider, The first cause Microsoft support lists for most of this problem is booting with some media in your CD,dvd, or floppy .Says remove media and boot again. Also says hitting ESC key causes this. Anything laying on your ESC key? Black screen when booting This is what I searched on in Microsoft. Using F8 or F5 to boot into safe mode? Good luck, davey
  10. Hi JDPower, I stand corrected.I misconstrued your Post and I used RegSeeker to verify my tests without actually looking in the Registry.Of course you are correct. The Cleaner function only removes the data and not the Registry entries. The strange thing is my Registry ls different from "weaselbites" Registry. This may be because I intentionally installed some "malware" from Microsoft a month or two back.It was called "Windows XP SP3 Beta" or some such thing. (Let me not mislead anyone.I have not had any problems at all with WINDOWS XP SP3 BETA.) I will provide you with an Image later of the Registry. Now I have to go and learn how to do that from DennisD pinned post in the Lounge under Important Topics. I provide this link for other Newbie users who want to learn How To Use Image Hosting Sites and how to capture "snapshots" off their screen. This should be a fun filled learning experience. THANKS TO DennisD for making this Post for us Newbie users. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=13668 Thanks for your gentle guidance JDPower, davey HERES THE image of my regedit.Seems similar to what Hazel lists in her following post.

Hi David, I would also recommend going to this link and Bookmarking it. http://internetrotsyourbrain.com/rridgely/freesoftware.htm As you may already know "rridgely" is one of Piriforms most respected experts, members, Moderators, etc. He also claims to be one the oldest. He also claims that he hates computers but from what I have seen,he loves people. That is why he always gives such good advice. Good Luck, davey
  12. Hey That's Great News!!! Treat this as a Very Important learning opportunity. CCleaner only deletes what you let it or tell it to delete. Always backup what you are not sure of. Always backup any Registry changes. It's easier to delete those back ups later than try to recreate or fix something without the backups. Best Wishes, davey
  13. Hi Guys, SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!! The Piriform programming team has been responding to your requests. At least from the first time I used CCleaner back in the beginning of NOV. 2007. I am am a relatively new user of PC's and CCleaner. So I am used too surprises!!! I was surprised when I foolishly checked all the Adavaced options on the Cleaner function. So I quickly learned not to use those options until I thoroughly investigated what each one does. This thread provided the final trigger to resolve my understanding of one of those options. That option is listed as User Assist History under the Advanced options of The Cleaner function. When you check that option the CCleaner does something to cause those items to be removed the next time you Restart.. Most new users are shocked the next time they reboot and all of a sudden their list of most used programs is missing from the Start Menu.I know I was. Windows starts rebuilding this list and updating the use Count each time you start another Program. I too use RegSeeker, only to help my understanding and investigations.Through reading some of the opinions of the Moderators and Power Members ,I too have come to realize the dangers of some Registry software. This is mainly due to lack of experience of the software user. Use of this option is not advised for new Users of CCleaner until they get more experience. More experienced users can use this option every now and then as desired.ENJOY!!! I am currently using CCleaner v 02.03.532.I have never had any problems with it. Best Wishes To All, davey
  14. Hi muratdeniz, Hazelnut is not on the forum right now. Did you say you did a system recovery or a system restore? If you tried a system recovery that is not good news.I would definitely wait and talk to the director. If you tried a system restore, did you try a system restore from an earlier Restore point? Do you happen to use ERUNT? You could try this until she returns or wait until she replies. She is a very knowledgeable Moderator. Good Luck, davey P.S. Second thoughts are that good directors understand that mistakes happen.Tell the director what happened, what your plan is to resolve the problem, and let the director decide what should be done.
  15. Hello gumaplastika, I think you are going to need some serious help. Go to this link and follow the instructions. Good Luck, davey http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=11000

  17. CCleaner Style Wish it had not taken me so long to "discover" it !!! davey P.S. I wanted to add that I still use Piriform style for a "change" and when I sometimes can't make out all the text in a Post.Sometimes the blue background of CCleaner style seems too dark.
  18. Hi MnM3, Coincidentally I was researching the same subject last night. Thanks again for your reply.Especially as this information will help out other users with the same or similar problem. Appreciate it, davey
  19. Hi silverhawk_184, You must remember that there are Millions of CCleaner users. CCleaner's objective is to provide the safest product for as many users as possible without intentionally putting users in a position that threatens their computer enjoyment. The Registry cleaning portion of CCleaner is designed the same way. That is why the Registry cleaner is considered by "ADVANCED" users as a "mild" or "gentle" registry cleaner. Manual registry changes can be done incorrectly,at the wrong time, and not in consideration of all the software complications involved. Regards, davey A very satisfied user and glad to be a member of this forum.
  20. Hi DerekG, Follow the directions in this link. Thanks for your Post. Good Luck, davey http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=12840
  21. Hi KRiSX, Sounds like you know better what you are trying to do than I do.Are you installing v 2.03.532? When you downloaded did you select "run" and let the wizard install everything to \Program Files\CCleaner. Eveything should be there. Run CCleaner and set your settings then exit. Look into the \Proram Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.ini file and check that the settings are as you expect. That is "CCleaner.ini" with two small "cc". Now you can package it as you like. Best Wishes, davey

  23. WOW !!! thanks for the warning JD. Yep , from what I have been reading many NEW users are being suckered into those sites. Then they get "PIRATED" software along with some buried code to steal I.D. info etc. Or just your everyday run of the mill, almost impossible to remove "virus". It's no wander the HiJackThis helpers are so busy. davey They go out of their way to look legitimate that they have even fooled Google.
  24. I know it sounds strange. But in my recent readings I have come across problems occuring when some software gets involved with running out of the Recycle bin menu. All I can say is do some Searching and you will come across them. And like my western Virginia grandmother said to me when I was suffering with a bad stomach ache. "It's the first "ENEMA" that's the hardest. The last "ENEMA" does the trick!!!" Of course I responded "There's gonna be no "FIRST" or "LAST" enema.I'm feeling better already."' HEY JD! Thanks for the help. davey
  25. Are you doing anything that you can't redo in this session?Otherwise it is worth a shot. YOU CAN DO THESE IN STEPS OR ALL AT ONE TIME. You might want to turn off your security programs while your at it. While you are at it,is there anything in the recycle bin? If no,create a NEW FOLDER on your Desktop.Delete it.Then, with the Recycle Bin CLOSED, right click the Recycle Bin desktop icon, select: Empty Recycle Bin, and when the Confirm File Delete dialog box comes up, click the OK button. Then reboot your system. After doing the above, any deleted files should now list correctly in the Recycle Bin. If yes, with the Recycle Bin CLOSED, right click the Recycle Bin desktop icon, select: Empty Recycle Bin, and when the Confirm File Delete dialog box comes up, click the OK button. Then reboot your system. After doing the above, any deleted files should now list correctly in the Recycle Bin. Run CCleaner. FILL US IN. davey EDIT 5;23 AM E.S.T. USA 01/14/2008 HMMM?
