  1. Hi cralor, Can you Run C:\Program Files\CCleaner\uninst.exe What happens then? Are you logged on as the same user when you installed? Have you just tried reinstalling to see what happens? * You should not need to delete anything after you do. It all goes into a temp file and then is installed in C:\Program Files\CCleaner. Good Luck, davey * Just click "run" to download.Goes to the install wizard .Read each option iin the wizard Uncheck what you dont want.Continue or next until finished. Read this first http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/ When you run make sure you dont select Advanced options in Cleaner window unless you understand exactly what it will do.If not don't select any because they are tools for "Advanced" users.
  2. Hi luik, OK! Now I understand why you want the new version to come out soon. I hope it has your fix. Can't you manually delete those cookies until then? If not so be it. Best Wishes, davey WINTER IN MARLAND USA!!!! SUMMER IN BRAZIL!!!!!
  3. Hi good people, For a further discussion of this situation click on the link below. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=14006 The problem is not with CCleaner but with a misleading setting in Internet Options. You may want to go to Tools in the upper right of this window. Click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab. Scroll down to Security and UNCHECK box labeled "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed". If this box is left checked then the pointers to this data will be removed and CCleaner will not know that data is there. I know you don't want other people to see what you have been seeing, reviewing, evaluating, looking at etc., so dont leave this box checked. Remember IF YOU SEE IT ON YOUR SCREEN WHILE BROWSING it may be recorded somewhere on your hard drive. For now if you want to get rid of it for "almost" certain, you may need another product.I say "almost" certain because no software GUARANTEES that all your data will be removed. (read the fine print). This situation does display the ability of RECUVA to do its job. Best Wishes, davey
  4. Hi JWirt, Are there some files in there that you want to specifically Secure Delete (OVERWRITE)? (Looked like possibly some Banking records.) If so you might try CCleaning those specific files, while we wait for some more experienced advice. I'll be here, davey EDIT Are you running CCleaner when logged on as the Administrator? P.S. I have been doing some research and learning today. When logged in as the Administrator, what do you find for Temp and TMP user environmental variables? Start > MY COMPUTER > PROPERTIES > ADVANCED > ENVIRONMENTAL VARIABLES > EDIT under user variables. Is this what you find for the user variable values? For TEMP AND TMP? %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp If not then you probably need to edit them? If that is what you find then more research and MORE HELP NEEDED. .
  5. Hello JWirt, There are a wide variety of members on this forum. The info you have provided will help them sometimes to remember similar situations and the problem resolution. It is also reviewed by the programming team and may help them find and resolve "bugs". What I meant by "background" programs had to do mainly with anti-malware type programs that sometimes interfere with the proper operation of "valid" programs such as CCleaner. Also some Browsers have options that prevent CCleaner from operating as you would expect. By the way,how BIG is that TEMP file ? davey P.S. Some users never reboot unless they must.CCleaner marks index.dat files for deletion at next reboot.Have you done a reboot? For your reading enjoyment.Note the link to CCleaner at the bottom. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index.dat A reminder to all users. P.S. Some times we forget that after deleting some software, adding new software, performing some "online" scans ETC. that we were told to reboot after doing so. Some "strange" things can occur until we do so.Thats why MS is so insistent about doing a reboot after installing some of their updates. They want you to "DO IT NOW".THEY ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS.So are other software developers. DON'T PUT OFF A REBOOT!!!! That is unless you are willing to put up with the consequences.
  6. Hello cleanerlover, Inaccurate figures have been reported in the current version v 2.03.532 .It reports less than was actually cleaned.May be fixed in next version. Thanks for taking the time to report a problem.Good members info always helps improve the product. davey
  7. Hello again, Thought I would include this link to a very similar situation. Note what JDPower has to say about Hot Fix Uninstallers. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry93913 You may have already cleaned out the Uninstallers. That maybe why the Issues show up in Registry Cleaner.I FIXED my ISSUES with no problems.Remember it's a lot easier to back up registry changes and delete them later from My Documents than it is to fix the Registry. I use ERUNT and NTREGOPT FROM the author on the net to backup and optimize the registry. davey
  8. Hi luik, I am pretty much a NEWBIE to using CCleaner myself. Excuse me for asking some Basic Questions but they need to be asked. Do you have the Cookies box CHECKED in THE Cleaner window? What Browser are you using? Does it have add-ons? Are you saying that these cookies are never removed? Do you understand that they will come back when someone goes back to those websites? Do you have the box Save SETTINGS TO .INI file CHECKED in the OPTIONS > ADVANCED window? The answers will help in trying to resolve your problem. How many COOKIES are in the list? Best wishes, davey
  9. Happy Birthady Dear Humpty!!!!! Happy Birthday To You!!!!! Heres to the next 39 Birthdays
  10. Happy Birthday!!!!! DennisD
  11. Hello again, "Defraggling" free space is more disk optimization than any sort of defragmentation. The program is trying to move as much as possible to the fastest part of the drive. You don't have to do this all in one operation.Stop when you like. You should see that your files are being moved to the outer part of the drive. This can take some time depending on where the files are and the file sizes. davey
  12. Hello again JWirt, In order for others to give you a a more informed decision, please provide a little more info. What OS, version, etc.? what browser, background programs etc.? The computer I am using had over 3 years of use with no cleaning either. How big is this file? You might want to rename it and set up another TEMP file but I hope we can get some more experienced advice. I have to admit that I deleted a lot of stuff manually until I found out about CCleaner. It may have a feasabilty edit as regards file size and it decides not to delete it without you being involved. Be Here, davey
  13. Hello jsburch83, You can use CCleaner. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=13293 More links available when I retun. davey More food for thought,RE above post. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry71630 http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry85907
  14. Hello wdat, Welcome to the forum. Are you checking any of the ADVANCED options in Cleaner window? I would uncheck these unless you really understand what they do. You at least want to uncheck Hot Fix Uninstallers. Best wishes, davey EDIT Blame it on the late hour.Whatever,I failed to realize you were talking about the Registry cleaner. Until someone can give you a more experienced answer ,you can right click on the type of entry and click on Deselect All of Type to uncheck them.
  15. Hello JWirt, I don't think CCleaner cleans out user temporary files. I would not delete any file unless I knew exactly what it is and is safe to delete. You may want to RENAME the folders in the TEMP file and see what happens. I would not DELETE the Directory. You will probably get more input from other users tomorrow. Good Luck, davey EDIT I take back my words about user temp files. It sure does. Are you logged on as the ADMINISTRATOR? Also see this link http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry92013
  16. Hello Giuys, What OS are you using,Browser,Anti-malware etc.? davey
  17. Hi ints, Welcome to the forum. Please send a Personal Message to MrG .He will be glad to communicate with you. Great to have CCleaner in the Estonian language. davey
  18. Hello Guys, Pretty soon you are going to have to "snail mail" us to let us know how many processes your down to. Hope not too many new PC users misunderstand what you mean! Best Wishes, davey

    Multitasking

Hello lamib, Defragmentation in its proceess is a very exact and complex process involving the secure availabilty of disk space not to be complicated by the processing of other tasks that may iinadvertantly result in the loss and/or garbling of data.It is best to always run a "Defrag" by itself. You can cancel the program if you must but don't expect it to to be able to run with other applications. This would be very dangerous for your files. Best Wishes, davey

  22. Hello beezerz, Can you please provide some more details. The situation, the thing you were doing, what options were set etc. What applications, browser, security software do you use? These may help someone help you or at least get their attention. davey edit I started to to give you a reply , the phone rang etc, I failed to notice that that Hazel had already given you a reply. You are in good hands.
  23. Hi twoteles, Welcome to the forum. I noticed the same thing yesterday but did not know how to describe the problem, Input from all members is vital. Thanks for your post.I am sure something will be done about this soon. Best Wishes, davey
  24. HI GUYS, The only problem is everything is done in one pass and I would assume it would be very inaccurate as regards a percentage of work remaining when secure delete and also the sorting that is involved. Not to mention the requests being made for free disk space security cleaning etc. For some strange reason I think it should be left up to the development team. Regards, davey
  25. Hi CeeCee, See!!! Global Warming in Finland made the Polar Bears extinct in Finland !!!! Best Wishes, davey
