  1. Hello bimbobo, Please provide some thumbnails of your CCleaner windows showing all the options that you use. Also a copy of the winapp.ini file. Do you also happen to use a winapp2.ini file? If yes, please provide a listing of that file. Thanks, davey
  2. Hi AjPat, You are a terrific member of this forum. This information can be used by many other members as a possible solution to their problem. Was this the first time you have used CCleaner or was this just the first time this had occurred? Many people would have just made the correction as you did and not thought any more about it. You took the extra step to report your discovery. All I can says is you are a highly valued member of this forum. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!! Thank you very much, davey P.S. We all know what that Panic feeling is like. You may save others from that feeling.
  3. Hello Tfast, This is the first time I have heard about it. Can you Reboot into safe mode yourself by Repeated clicking of F8 right after pushing the start button?. Your objective is to Run C:/Program Files/Recuva/uninst.exe Running this program will uninstall Recuva. Then do a normal boot and see what happens. What OS and VERSION,Browsers, and specifically what security programs are you using. Fill us in. Good Luck, davey P.S. You definitely don't want to do anything as drastic as you are thinking.
  4. Hi abu aufa, You can install new versions without an uninstall. As far as Registry cleaning goes don't do it if you don't have a complete backup of your Registry. If you do it make sure the option is turned on to prompt you to create a backup of the changes you are making. If you don't understand what all those selections are for I would wait until you have learned what each one is.Take your time and read and search the forum and learn. Anybody says go ahead doesn't know you like you do.You must make that decision for yourself. Even MS has a disclaimer about changing the Registry. Most users don't need to do it. Best Wishes, davey P.S. Start with latest Guide. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1504 Also this link. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...ost&p=96510

    New Version

Keithuk, The language option is in every build. You apparently don't see the option because you are using Win98SE which does not support MUI and you don't have MSLU installed. Are you sure you don't have this option coming up when you download and you are just clicking to fast to notice it?There are other times you have reported that you don't have such and such.Of course, maybe you never installed MSLU.You must have some foreign speaking clients.Don't you? Hello mushu13, The Slim version you can download using any language you like.I have downloaded English,Spanish,Polish, and French.I have a wide variety of users. Of course you must use Options > Settings to change from one language to the next.To make it portable you just copy the CCleaner folder which also contains the necessary language .dll files. You also have to check the box to save all settings to .ini file.It will be a lot slimmer than the Portable build. Or you can download the Portable version and copy it.It contains all the languages.Comes in around !.7 MB. It also forces copy of all settings to .ini file.To have all those languages available for another 1 MB seems worthwhile since you can distribute it to whomever you like. From reading some of your posts I get the feeling you are a Pro and already know this but this will help other users. Piriform sure offers a lot of user choice!!! Best Wishes to All, davey
  6. Hello pwrslider, I suspect that all necessary files are being cleaned. For some members the figures don't print properly.Use v2.05.555 CCleaner please. Please provide more info. What OS and version.Browsers,Security apps ,CCleaner version do you use? It may not be you or CCleaner. You may have some corrupted files or some other special circumstances. Do you have OPTIONS > ADVANCED option boxes checked to print detail listings? These may help you see which files are not being deleted. These files may be unusually large. Do you use the Include or Exclude options for anything? You may have to try cleaning one option at a time to find where this difference is occurring. Do you use any Regional Settings that are possibly incorrect? 1400 MB is an awful lot to be cleaned for someone who uses CCleaner regularly. Do you save an inordinate amount of cookies? What size do you specify for IE cache? As you can see your situation is unusual and requires unusual methods to find the problem. Best Wishes, davey
  7. As thorough as you have been, you probably know you aren't alone with this problem. Your help is needed. Can you provide "snapshots" of your My Computer window with the folders tree displayed on the left.? Also of your Local Disk (C:) properties window General tab and Hardware tab? Scratch out any personal info.MrRon and his team can probably use this info. Too bad they don't show what the path specified is in the error log.Maybe they will change that. Thanks for your help, davey Just another member like you. P.S. MrRon posted this on another thread about same problem you are having.Give it a try first. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...ost&p=97219

Do you also have the numeric editing problem? Do you still get a detailed listing with the option unchecked? Can you please provide us with some "snapshots" of your listings? Some with the option checked and some without the option checked. Your help is greatly appreciated. This can help in the resolution of this problem. davey
  12. Hi bubba, If you also did some Registry cleaning Reset your Registry by Right clicking on your backups in reverse sequence ,select Merge (Newest than previous etc.).Backups are in My Documents by default. Only Reset those backups you did since CCleaner update. Each backup name starts ccsomething.timestamp.reg. Best Wishes, davey
  13. Hi Disk4mat, I agree with your statement. It is an Accessibility issue and it does deserve to be fixed. As you know, there are some websites that use certain colors as backgrounds that make it hard to read unless the words are converted to darker colors and not left as white. This greatly improves the experience of the user and improves the website's functionality thereby also increasing it's popularity. I also would like to thank you for your coding Posts that solve some users "cleaning" issues. Thanks, davey
  14. Hi Jean.jvj, The links listed below discuss a display problem for certain English and Portuguese users. This may affect your listings. You should also check the OPTIONS > ADVANCED box as described by Keithuk. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=14106 http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry96876 Best Wishes, davey
  15. Hi Keithuk, These two options must be ticked. First to have Include or Exclude options to be in effect. Second to avoid having to constantly keep entering Include or Exclude file/folder names. davey
  16. It's coming along.Lots of members are testing it. This sentence may be very important and interesting to MrRon. What product did you use to do the freespace WIPING ? See,all the information you guys provide really helps out!!! Thanks, davey
  17. For some reason I expected the log to be longer than that.Did it shutdown again at 7 %? Anyway Good Luck! ARE you just testing or is there something IMPORTANT you are trying to recover? The more you use that computer the greater chance of overwriting it unless it is an old file. davey
  18. Hello again, Did you see the word DEBUG in the top banner? Is the file hidden? Never had to DEBUG myself. davey P.S. I have now used DEBUG mode for RECUVA.It creates txt file called Recuva log XXXXXXXX X= date and time click on log it shows DEBUG info . DEBUG does show in banner at top of window .I hit SCAN let it run a little then hit cancel to stop.
  19. Hello UBB, Follow the instructions at this link. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=11523 Thanks, davey
  20. Hello Keithuk, Since you have the same setup as ldb50 can you test with the History option off and see if it deletes regardless or does it not delete the first time but deletes if run a second time or vice-versa.This will help the "bug" fixers as regards Win98SE.ldb50 main concern is that he does not want it to delete the History file. davey
  21. Hi Dennis, They would get more response if they said "TO FIND OUT WHO REFERRED YOU CLICK HERE!!!" davey P.S. OH NO,I just realized it takes a week!!! What a bummer. I keep clicking on Redeem but nothing happens. I never saw that ad on T.V. Wow!!! Food and Drug Administration (is it food or a drug?)
  22. No,I think it is best made that you "must" put your cursor on the box to be changed. I have seen this feature in other programs also and did not like the fact the you could accidentally change something. Thanks again for reporting it. davey
  23. Hi again, The Advanced section I was talking about is found on the Windows tab of the Cleaner function. It is at the lower part of the list. You need to check those other boxes further up the list or the Cleaner will not clean anything. CCleaner is a good product.Don't forget to bookmark the Beginners Guide in my previous reply. Some people select the Advanced boxes by mistake. Some of these options clean out your cache or the long list of all the previous times you have used a program .It is built by MS as you execute programs and records how many times and from what folder you executed. It even contains some URL data. This option is called User Assist History. You would not believe how much this builds up. When you check this option CCleaner flushes it but Windows will start filling it back up ,every time you start a program. No need for you to worry because it is gone now. Some of the other Advanced options will cause your Programs list to be sorted.Just execute them from the Start > All Prorams list and they will refill your Start menu list of most recently used programs. These boxes should not be used without further learning as to what they do.That is why they are labeled as Advanced. I will look into this Google search thing.Someone else may have the answer also.Just be patient. davey P.S. How about a snapshot of your Windows tab and your Applications Tab.Also your Option > Settings window and Options > Advanced window.
  24. Hi Hazel, I always select Run as I am using the Install package not a Build. It downloads to Temporary Internet Files then The Wizard unzips and installs everything to Program Files\CCleaner no muss , no fuss ,works every time. davey
  25. Yes it does Highlight the box but not the whole line. Don't misunderstand my intention. When I first saw your post I wanted to thank you for bringing up an important item. Many people do click their mouse and this can result in them turning on or off a feature.I will bet this has happened to others. The feature does make it quicker for those who just move the highlight up and down then click on the line. This also does the same for the normal delete versus secure delete option. Thanks Jamin4u for reporting this important item.Yes,CCleaner Rocks. davey
