  1. How are you doing, warmth, my friend. All of your suggestions,I am sure, are reviewed. That is why they provide this sub-forum. You know by now though, that Piriform staff is very small. They can not review and answer every suggestion.I don't think that they have the time to reply to any suggestions. You know they do listen when you see these suggestions put into effect in the products. You are a valuable member because you always provide good information related to your suggestions. I have seen your suggestions and that is my impression. Any very popular application will be considered for cleaning.Of course they must be very, very popular. You have become competent at using winapp2.ini to clean some of your applications. Please consider offering them to be included in the forum winapp2.ini file. I am sure there are many users that could benefit from them. Keep posting your suggestions, davey
  2. Thanks everybody. Not ready to use it yet myself but I definitely have this thread Bookmarked. davey Those desktops are beautiful in the Lounge.Especially those custom icons.
  3. Who said anything about there actually being any monitoring software? davey
  4. Yeah! and I wouldn't doubt that those same people are changing the clock in an effort to avoid tracking later. They need to be informed that messing with the clock is being monitored and if they keep messing with the clock, they will get more than their "clock cleaned". davey
  5. What can I say but thanks for taking the further steps to track down where this is occurring. This will definitely help the "bug fixers" find the problem. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated. Thanks for being a valuable member, davey
  6. Hi Jim, I see your point as regards being responsible for servicing many computers. But,I want to see CCleaner to be kept flexible and simple as possible. I have seen many suggestions to add this option and that option but each one makes CCleaner a little bit larger, a little more confusing for most users. I hope to see install options or such so that I don't have to worry about some of my users trying to "fix" the Registry or use the Tools function and "Uninstall" or even worse just "Delete" programs without a proper "uninstall". The only protection I have now is the threat to them that "it will cost them a lot of MONEY,TIME, and STRESS if they mess with those functions". That threat has worked so far but like other requests or suggestions I have seen, I would like an install option to only allow the Cleaner and Options functions. I guess what it comes down to is someway to lock each option in CCleaner. As far as the clock is concerned,I don't want anybody messing with my clock. I already removed many software options either at start up or built in by the developers to check in with their website for "updates" and "new offers" etc. It is no wonder why some users are reluctant to "reboot" when they should.Too much garbage happening at Start up. Keep CCleaner simple and flexible but not a "do all" product. Get the documentation clarified and updated for all current Piriform products. Then I expect that Piriform will probably develop a separate "Utilities" product. Who knows??? Regards, davey

You are beyond my comprehension, Jeoff. There are server operators who cruise by here evey now and then. But on a Monday morn, nice spring time weather, who knows. Out of my league ! davey

Sorry, I thought you were having program download troubles. Maybe your server thinks it is dealing with a 56kbs modem? Sounds like the speed I use to have on my modem if the server was being nice to me. davey Lets see 1440 min. per day X 60 sec.... better call home.. let them know I'll be late....hmm
  9. No problem here.I drink gallons of it every day(night) with Hazelnut creamer and sugar. At bedtime you just put them in their nice little bathtub.Wake up and they are ready to go. No pwwoblem!!! davey

Hello Jeoff, You will get a faster download if you specify Save instead of Run when you download. At least that has been my experience. Good Luck, davey
  11. OK Tony, I am sure this information will help in resolving this. The Bug Fixers can use this info. It does seem to be a "bug".It almost looks like the analysis figures don't include the probable amount of Firefox data but the delete totals do include them. I don't use Firefox so I haven't noticed any differences like you have. One or two versions back they had a similar totals problem related to Internet Explorer totals. To bypass the bug if you requested a detailed list of IE temp files then that logic path was followed and always supplied the correct figures. You could try Ticking those boxes in Options > Advanced and see what happens.(Tick IE and also Firefox) The cleaning seems to be done OK but the Analysis figures are too low. Thanks, davey
  12. Sorry canorro, Not yet. davey What operating systems does CCleaner work with?Fully tried and tested with Windows 98/NT4/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista. It's currently partially compatible with 64bit XP and Vista, there are a few non-critical issues which are still being worked on. There are no Mac or Linux versions.
  13. Did you also try stretching the window. It looks extremely narrow to me.If that does not work I would try another download. Something is affecting the graphics of the window. davey P.S. You may also need newer C++ software. If you do,don't forget to reboot after installing the new software. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Windows 2000; Windows Server 2003; Windows Vista; Windows XP Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003; Windows Vista; Windows XP
  14. Hi Jerry, You must Uncheck the box Autocomplete Form History. This has more to do with Pasword information than the Cookies do. You can probably Check the "cookies" box and have them deleted. Some cookies do have some information used to help reconnect but not regarding Password info as you are referring. Some sites like Yahoo store information in the Flash files. If that matches with your uses you can Uncheck the box to clean Adobe Flash Player files under Multimedie in The Applications Tab list. You can find out how to Exclude those .sol files in Adobe Flask files later. Other new users should also keep in mind that the Applications Tab is not processed separately from The Windows Tab list They should be considered together as one complete list. They are all proceessed in one pass of the list of options. Don't forget a new update to the CCleaner Guide came out Feb. 06,2008. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1504 Thanks for taking your time to make a report.Welcome to the forum!!! Good Luck, davey
  15. Hello malpert, Welcome to the forum!!! Wish it was under better circumstances for you. Click on this link and try searching Google for some of this software. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...ost&p=97095 I am in a rush right now but I will return later. Try this link for Trend Micro House call scan. This is what the user in the above link used to find his worm. You have some problems with you computer and you came here hoping CCleaner will help. It will after you get rid of the malware you have on your computer. You may be able to do it yourself like Guy1 did. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ If you can't figure out yourself than use this link and follow the instructions. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=11000 Good Luck, davey P.S. Registry cleaning

Eli, You are a valuable member of this forum, this cyberspace community. Why? Because you ask such important questions. Question # 1 answer is always Yes and No.Even MS has a disclaimer about changing the Registry. There is always the risk of something unforseen happening. The question is how experienced are you at recovering from a problem that occurs. There is no rush to use the Registry function for most users. Especially when your computer is running OK. Users that do a lot of testing and uninstalling and using certain types of software need to clean up their Registry and fix it often manually. These are the "techies" or "heavy duty P.C. users" that know the risks and for them it is normal to have to do special recovery methods. The average P.C. user does not need to do this and in many cases can't recover properly when things go wrong. Keep reading the various threads when you have the time and learn a little at a time. Of course I'll refer you to some of the replies I have made to other users. Have fun with your computer and be happy. "Take your time and enjoy yourself." Here is a little lesson that will help you in your "searches" of the forum and help answer your question #2.You may already know some of this but it also helps others to learn a liitle bit more. Everything I am saying that follows is assuming you are using Internet Explorer 7.Other browsers are similar but the locations and icons may be different.I use IE7 myself and don't want to change to another browser so I can keep the viewpoint of the average user who installs Windows and uses Internet Explorer. The version of IE used is limited depending on the version of Windows that you use. First a little trick I learned myself.Click on the GOLD STAR on the left above this window.(Favorites Center) Now click on the word History that appears below it.This is a list of all the webpages you have visited since you last deleted your browsing history. (Click on the GOLDS STAR again after you do the next step and click on any Piriform icon(the Pear). I am telling you this now because this window will disappear and a New Tab window will open.) Click on that little empty Tab right above this window. It will say "New Tab" when you put your "pointer" over it.Don't forget when the New Tab opens Click on the GOLD STAR and click on any Piriform icon. This will open a new tab and you will be able to switch back and forth between this window and the new window. Click on the old tab and then the new tab.Back and forth you can change windows. Now you can read the instructions in one window and perform them in the other window.(Wish someone taught me this trick when I was trying to follow their instructions.) Yes I have a printer but some users don't.Anyways it is good lesson for many new users. Don't forget you will be switching back and forth between tabs. I am using the new tab right now to find a link that I want to give you. At the top of every members Piriform forum window is a "Search" button or word Search. Click on that and you get a little search box.In that box it says "More search options".Click on that. This takes you to a more detailed "Search Options" window. At the bottom of this window there is a button labeled "More options" Click on that button. Congratulations you are now at the forums most advanced search window.Bookmark or click on the GOLD STAR WITH THE GREEN PLUS SIGN and Add to Favorites.(Do both and you will be able to use any PC to link to your favorite websites.I like redundancy for certain things.) IF you got lost along the way don't feel bad.Stuff happens and we learn from our mistakes. This is the link for one of my favorite forum tools. The Search Engine !!! You got here the hard way or the easy way.Either way you have learned something. That is the value of the Bookmark or Favorites or both.Never depend on Recently Typed URLs to be around.Thats when they disappear. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...ode=adv&f=0 Bookmark it , Add it to Favorites or both. Are we having fun yet? Now type in "phone book" including the quotes in the Search By Keywords box.You can also click on Advanced Usage Help to see search examples. Type in my member name "davey" without the quotes in the Filter by Member Name (optional) box. (This will narrow the search to only my posts.) Remember I am switching back and forth between Tabs just as you are. Down at the bottom right you will find Result Type Show results as topics or Show results as posts. Click on Show results as posts (This is important). Now click on the "Perform the search". You are now looking at one of my posts and it contains the phrase "phone book".As of now it is the only post I have containing this phrase.Notice at the bottom it says Post Preview: #99057 .Click on the post number and you can review the whole thread. Use the Back arrow to bring you back to the Search results list.(You must Double-click sometimes to do this) You can review many posts this way and they relate to your "search keywords" or phrases and list in a way that is useful. For those who got lost or don't have the Search feature the link follows. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...ost&p=99057 Now have fun and learn faster and easier with your new forum tool!!! davey
  17. Hello 1984, Well you're in for it now. The "old" PC just happened to quit working while the family is away. Future Shop coincidently had this great deal going on and the sale was almost over. What were you to do? Rob the family of the availability of using the remaining computer? I think not. Of course, you are no idiot. That "old" computer better darn well be busted when they get back home. Stuff Happens, davey P.S. Good thing you didn't just happen to wonder into the local Harley-Davidson shop.
  18. Hello Robert, I see you have been a member since Nov. 2006.So I figure you are like most users that just enjoy using their computer and don't need to worry about too much technical stuff. Many other users read these threads and like to learn from them.I read your past threads and noticed you failed to follow up on final resolution of your problems. Please don't leave us guessing,OK. We all benefit that way. This reply is not just for you.So don't take anything in it as personal. It is also for those other members and users who are interested in learning a little bit more about Windows, CCleaner and this forum in general. Just like me you just happen to be an average PC user, who wants to learn a little bit more. You took the first step when somehow you ended up at Piriform looking for a product(program) that would help you maintain the performance and usefulness of your computer. You took the second step and actually registered and became a member of this forum. In all sincerity, WELCOME TO THIS FORUM!!! We members are here to love, laugh, and learn. Those users who have not registered yet are invited to do so.It is easy, fast and so much to gain and share. No hassles or pressures for monies or fees or time.Everything done here is completely voluntary. Never before has so much knowledge and information been available to the average person. We want to insure that this evolution of the Internet remains free and uninhibited. To that end we share our knowledge and experience to benefit all PC users. Now , down to your question(searching for understanding). Your question is simple yet it goes to the "heart" of Internet processing as regards your PC(personal computer). Nothing beats a good old-fashioned lesson. Just click along with me.( Everything mentioned here is related to Internet Explorer 7.Other versions and other browsers are similar.) Start > Control Panel > Internet Options will get you to the General tab of Internet Properties. Under Browsing history Click on the "Delete..." button. Are you getting a little uncomfortable yet? You should be.Any time I see the word "delete" I get a little nervous.Thank goodness they put that "..." on the end.Makes me feel like something more is to follow, before I actually go deleting something. Windows is like that for a good reason. When you delete something, you need to understand what, why and when you are deleting it. As regards Internet History etc. there are many files involved. If you clicked on the "Delete..." button as mentioned prior ,you should now be at the "Delete Browsing History" box. You can now "Delete..." what Browsing information you would like. You can do the same in your browser window. Click on Tools > Delete Browsing History and delete what you want. Are you actually deleting the data from your Hard Drive? No, you are only deleting the Windows "pointers" to that data. How does this relate to CCleaner? CCleaner deletes it faster. It also allows you to save specific "Cookies" you may want to keep.It also allows you to overwrite that data on your HD(Hard Drive) for security purposes.CCleaner will also clean selected Application temporary files at the same time.It will also clean selected Windows information. You can also select other Custom files to be cleaned. You can also Exclude specific files or folders from cleaning. CCleaner has other options related to the maintenance of your computer. You don't have to use them.In fact, you are advised not to use them unless you understand what they do. Most users are just fine using the default settings of the Cleaner as installed. They can turn off any or all Applications cleaning if they don't want that to be done every-time that they run the Cleaner. Most users only need to run CCleaner when they notice a slow down or decrease in performance. The beauty is it's speed and ease of use. I advise that Cleaning only be done when nothing else is running. It is faster and safer that way. As regards your Computer instability at the next reboot, please provide more information. Best Wishes, davey Don't forget a new update to the CCleaner Guide came out recently. Other new users should also keep in mind that the Applications Tab is not processed separately from The Windows Tab list They should be considered together as one complete list. They are all proceessed in one pass of the list of options. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1504
  19. Hey Tony, May be a bug. Are you using the latest versioin 2.06.567?If not , use it.It is OK. These answers help to evaluate the problem.Just fill in the answers next to the questions? 21. Hi again Jon, Sorry ,I lost track of this thread. Your problem is unique. If you find something, please report back and also answer the following questions. These answers help to evaluate the problem.Just fill in the answers next to the questions? CCleaner version ? 23. Hello John, CCleaner only cleans and secure deletes files that have not been deleted by some other method, whether manually or by another program. This explains why Recuva finds so many deleted but not overwritten files. If you want to wipe old deleted files then you can use Free ERASER 5.7 is used by some members.Be advised to use only version 5.7 . It does take awhile to run, sometimes several hours. It all depends how many files and how big the Hard Drive. http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/download.php ONLY version 5.7 from source forge ONLY.This is important. EDIT Vista users will have to use a later version. Good Luck, davey P.S. ONE (1) overwrite is sufficient for anyone unless they are a spy.More overwrites mean longer run times and more wear and tear on your hard drive.
  24. Hello everybody, I would think it a good idea for all those speaking English as a second language to please NEW post in your countries more popular forums and announce in the Topic title that CCleaner is Free . Do this in your countries language. You could also provide them with a link to the Download page and some instructions on how to download.Once they use the Wizard in their own language, they should not have problems from there. These Posts would be picked up by the Internet search engines and more of your own citizens would find this information when they search the net. I have often wondered if there are CCleaner users groups and translated Users guides available. Is this service what the other sites are trying to charge for? Your feed back information would be very appreciated. Thanks, davey
  25. Come on Jim .Quit the April fools jokes!!! If you are serious,Pardon moi!!! davey
