  1. Those of you who remember the first one will be pleased to see this new one, even better I think. ( Takes a few seconds to load) http://www.atomfilms.com/contentPlay/shock...2&preplay=1
  2. Thanks ceecee, works with opera now as well
  3. Okay, I ran the uninstaller which said it removed the player from ALL browsers. Then used Andavari's IE link and installed it on IE, works okay. Opened opera checked on Yokenny's tool link again, it said I didn't have it there now, so when it said did I want to install it, it took me to this page http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/do...=ShockwaveFlash where as you can see it says for IE, firefox and opera. Do I download this as well in the same way as the other in order for it to work in opera? Or does this version do all browsers ? I'm confused!!
  4. So if I use opera and IE 7 ( I've checked using Yokenny's tool link and I have different versions in each browser ) do I have to uninstall and install in both browsers?!!
  5. I was talking to someone yesterday who said they had a few problems with their video card sometimes if just doing a restart.
  6. Under what circumstances is it better to use a cold boot as opposed to a restart?
  7. Hardly a claim to fame really, but just read today that a small firm in the next village has won the contract with microsoft to translate the 25,000 word user manual for vista into 11 languages. Don't know if you have the program "Last of the Summer Wine" shown in the US but thats the area where the firm is based.
  8. Yes, it's still there, my favourite of the moment is the take over technology http://www.msfirefox.com/windows-kernel-protection.html
  9. Already done Tony and sorted by Sophos with an update. Sophos also flagged AVG antispyware's installer as having the same trojan this morning.
  10. Glad you had some success JD. Was the article in the "Ask Leo" webpage as that is where I found one of my links, but the link wouldn't work. Diabling UPnP seems to be the one that worked for most people.
  11. Hello Jim and welcome to the forum It is unlikely that ccleaner is responsible for this, although we did have a similar thread a while ago http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showto...mp;p=44256& Some restore info here along with a link at the top of the page to a forum area for system restore problems only. http://bertk.mvps.org/html/healthy.html Let us know how you go on, or if you have anymore questions.
  12. Is this the workaround you found? EDIT sorry JD link won't work! Other people solved it by disabling universal plug and play, or making sure the volume control was also in the taskbar
  13. ccleaner doesn't as a rule create damage after an issues scan! I have never had any problems with mine. If you keep your backup for a week or so and then you could delete it if you see no problems (which I doubt you will)
  14. When you choose to fix issues you are offered the option to back them up. If you say yes, you can save them in your documents and then in the unlikely event of there being a problem afterwards, just double-click on the backup and select merge. They will be restored.

Same garbled text in opera, but in IE 7 can see it but is only about 2 inch square!
  16. I have looked at this site sometimes to give me a better idea of what things are http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/...#InterpretIntro but I would always ask for expert analysis rather than do anything I may come to regret later.
  17. This site is still running and changing, it's fun, I like the microsoft-firefox mail beta page! http://www.msfirefox.com/microsoft-firefox-mail-beta.html
  18. Although i haven't tried this myself yet, it looks comprehensive, well done, and free http://www.jahshaka.org/index.php?option=c...1&Itemid=46
  19. Are you using IE 7? If so try unticking -delete index.dat- and also don't have ccleaner set to run at startup.
  20. I know you'll do well aaron, keep dropping in or it may get boring around here!! Hope you don't mind me posting the link http://z10.invisionfree.com/geekstop/index.php?act=idx

    ouch

Congradulations, and best wishes from all of us here.
  22. Humpty, have just done a bit of reading on sandboxie and have a couple of questions, 1 How does system restore fit in. 2 If you were surfing sandboxed would a windows update icon come up if there was one to download. 3 If using Erunt, would it be affected. I gather it's not now compatable with 64 bit systems because of a microsoft update
  23. Let us know when you sort it, it may help someone else. As you say it will probably be something small, as most of us here have solved it through the method above. Send your nephew round to my house if he's that good!!
  24. Did you make sure you chose "save" and not "open" when you were downloading the program? Any more problems still let us know. By the way welcome to the forum jonno
  25. It's worth a try, I use IE7, don't have ccleaner set to run at startup and have "delete index.dat" unchecked and all my cookies I want are saved. So yes it's worth a try
