  1. Good warning Humpty, lets hope a lot of people read it.
  2. Also see here, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html It covers how to run safe mode in all versions of windows
  3. Hello Turbobob and welcome to the forum Try having a read at the guide here, and then come back and ask about anything you are still not sure of. http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/ Basically once you have selected your cookies you want to keep, press the big brush sign, click analyze at the bottom of the screen, the list to be cleaned will come up, then click the run cleaner button, bottom right of screen.
  4. I had the same problem incy and also left CA because of it. In the last few days I had left with it, it was popping up everywhere. It is a shame because I think I would have stayed if I hadn't felt they were harrasing me.
  5. Two links for you to read slowday, the first is interesting, you'll see why! http://www.castlecops.com/p861345-Sonic_re...w_problems.html http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=12435
  6. I have IE7 and now can check index.dat in ccleaner without any of the previous problems Jon.
  7. That's not very nice of kodak! I shall never buy one! My present camera is a really good top of the range panasonic and I do not connect the camera in any way to the computer. I simply pop in the external memory card from the camera into the computer, and let picasa catalogue them, slideshow, edit (that's fun) or anything I want including resizing for emails, and putting them on a cd.
  8. Just a few last minute thoughts cowboy. 1. How will you keep the batteries charged? Some cameras use batteries and these don't last long and can run out at an inconvienent time, so you can get a battery charger and always have a couple of charged batteries ready. With our last camera ( a fuji finepix) we were lucky in a sale and it came with a dock charger (rather like a small base for a cordless phone) and you just pop the camera in it when not in use and it's always charged. Also you can take the dock on holiday with you as it plugs in to any socket. 2. Watch what size internal memory the camera comes with, sometimes this can be small and will only store 30 photos or so. Try to make sure you can put an external memory card in the camera, which you can get good deals on for say, a 512mb size, which will store a lot of photos. Look online at the prices for the memory card your choosen camera will take and you will see they are cheap. Finally I don't need any software with my camera, I just use picasa like rridgely. Put your memory card into the computer and picasa will put them in order for you!

    Scares me

Hello urdrwho Try having a read of the guide here, it should answer a lot of your question, including about backups (available in "issues" cleaning only) http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/
  10. All I would say cowboy, is don't be blinded with science and be talked into buying something with all bells and whistles on it that you will never use. There are a lot of cameras out there which will serve you well for sending decent pictures to your family at a reasonable price.
  11. Another way here, although it could be more suited to people who mend all their friend's systems by re-installing windows as it is for xp, 2000 and 2003. http://www.heise-security.co.uk/articles/80682/0
  12. Are you saying John that this below doesn't work for you? In WinXP, click Start, My Computer, Tools, and Folder Options. On the General tab, choose whether to open each folder in a new window and set how you want to select items (click or double-click). EDIT Also see here John http://help.wugnet.com/windows/folders-ope...pict539380.html

Hello edallen and welcome to the forum If you go to the site in the link in the top post and look at the top of his page it will show you where to put them between. Choose an emoticon from his site ( as they are safe) left-click on the address underneath it and drag your curser across the address until it is all blue, then right-click on the highlighted text, and choose copy. You can then come to the forum and do it yourself in a post by doing just how it looks on Andy' instructions. you get the address bit inbetween the img bits by right-clicking and choosing paste. Look forward to your post!

  20. I have read that if you don't have a disc but have the i386 file on your computer (which some manufacturers do) and in a situation where it asks for a disc, click ok and browse to your i386 file it will never again ask you for the disc.
  21. Did you try the visual babic runtimes download as Andavari suggested? http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=5739
  22. Is the setup on your desktop called ccleaner.exe? If it is, rename it to ccsetup136.exe. then try again to install it.

    Close Firefox

BEDO, You say that, The other new thing is a dialog box that says ' This process will permanently delete files from your system. Are you sure you wish to proceed?' This option comes up when you press the big cleaner brush button, and is normal for this to come up. You will not get an option to back up the registry unless you do an "issues" clean, it asks you where you want to save and gives "my documents" as first choice. Have you read this ? It may help, if you still have questions just ask http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/
  24. Yes. You can then choose, say your desktop to save it to, so it is easy for you to find. Double-click on the setup and install following the prompts
