  1. At the moment I am using an Online Armour firewall I am beta testing for them. The build I am using now, kernel mode with the usual bits and pieces, is fast, light and I like it a lot.
  2. In the article here http://blogs.chron.com/helpline/archives/s...ernet_explorer/ there are 2 paragraphs you might find interesting. One is called "Getting rid of ISP branding" (is this the little tool you used?) The other is below it called "missing the back button" and explains how to get rid of buttons you don't want. Perhaps it may help
  3. No problem Jack, glad you got it sorted.
  4. Hello Micheal and welcome to the forum Have you had a read here? http://forum.CCleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=5707

    Ie7 Pro

I agree, nice addition to IE7. I use opera so haven't really had the forum access problems some of you seem to have had with FF. It's true, once you start using "extra features" in a browser you really don't want to be without them. I love being able to highlight a word or phrase in opera, and then right-click>search with google. Saves so much time.
  6. Fascinating link TM. Here's a little bit more I found. http://didierstevens.wordpress.com/2006/07...8217;re-joking/
  7. I know you are still having problems acccessing this forum so perhaps with this other problem it may be an idea to post a hijackthis log in the HJT log analysis part of the forum, just to discount malware first. In case you haven't done one before here is a link Dennis http://forum.CCleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=1720
  8. Reinstalling can be horrifying experience when you are a new computer user. Knowledge is low and panic can set in. That's when forums can be a helpful place
  9. AVG antispy is good, it's as simple as that. Works for me and I have bought it 2 years running (this year with a discount for renewing, only cost me ?11 or 21 US dollars)
  10. After switching from CA (formely Etrust) to Avast, I must admit I am quite used to it now and have found it to be good on my system. I think that people's systems can determine how good an app works for them. So sometimes a really good app gets a bad write up simply because it doesn't gel with the users apps and specs.
  11. You never waste anybodys time cowboy, in fact someone could come along, read this post and know what could be causing the same problem on their computer
  12. Perhaps homey, not a lot of people on the forum have vista and then are trying to have it run at startup. Also remember Vista is not yet at full release date. Questions are usually answered quite quickly on the forum, this one obviously doesn't apply to a lot of people. I presume this is the behaviour you are talking about > Windows Vista specific functionality Windows Defender in Windows Vista automatically blocks all startup items that require administrator privileges to run (this is considered a bad behaviour for a startup item). There is no known easy way to automatically unblock these items, the only suggestion given is to "contact the software vendor for an updated version" which is Vista compatible (does not require administrator privileges to run). This automatic blocking is related to the UAC (User Account Control) functionality in Windows Vista, and requires the user to manually run each of these startup items each time they log in. If there is no updated version of the startup item, the only currently known way to circumvene this behavior is to disable UAC altogether (since this is also a UAC related functionality, disabling Windows Defender while not disabling UAC will not solve the issue).
  13. It is incredible that the thread link I posted about this http://www.dylangreene.com/blog.asp?blogID=371 has been going on for over 2 years (and is still a live thread) about the same problem. Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves
  14. I would think it's a safety thing most of all webmal. Sometimes program undates etc are put in temp files and can be applied on reboot. If you had used CCleaner inbetween, they would be gone! Welcome to the forum

    Gui

    Try options > tree view.
  16. Having had a look around it does seem to be a very stressfull problem for a lot of people. Have you read this long thread here? ( read it all) http://www.dylangreene.com/blog.asp?blogID=371 Several solutions are posted, a couple of which seem to work for most people. A long read but I hope one of the answers works, one of the solutions posted has worked for so many now the poster has cult status (post 69)
  17. Mike, by using the scan button first, all files found are listed, then you just type in jpg, png or mp3 into the filter and only those type of files will then be shown.
  18. Very easy to use, looks like a winner. Thanks Mr G
  19. Seems a bit of confusion around, but in several posts I have read, and the one below, you can only disable Defender in Vista not uninstall it as it will be part of the operating system. http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare...;PostID=1108112
  20. Just a quick point, it isn't compatable with vista.
  21. You could always try a request for help here http://forum.moddb.com/moddb/
  22. If you mean there is a big white space in add and remove here is some info on fixes. http://help.wugnet.com/windows/Add-remove-...pict545435.html

    Cyberhawk

I agree JD, I would think it's highly unlikely it contains spyware. Perhaps Daan is looking at the link for >report if spyware found in this download link> to the right on this page and reading something into it. (probably for installer alerts, we at CCleaner know about those only too well!) http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Cybe...load-33522.html
  24. Hello Alberto It may be difficult, but you can try this, it is free. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html Use your computer no more if you can, until you use this software. Good luck!!
