  1. Then I'm pretty sure there isn't a way. I don't know about other AIM clients like DeadAIM or w/e, but I know that the old AIM doesn't allow you to sign on invisible. Just sign on and sign off as quick as you can
  2. Very good point. *copy + paste*
  3. I believe you have to modify your boot.ini, which is in your basic C:\ root directory (you have to have system folders visible). From there you can modify the default and the timeout time (if you wanted to change it from 8 seconds). Make sure you make a backup, too.
  4. Calls are quickly becoming outdated; increased internet security makes it much easier to communicate via e-mail, VOIP, or IM.
  5. CCleaner works by deleting those kinds of files; ones that are useful to have but may take up unnecessary space. On the other hand, many people (myself included) prefer having internet histories and ther cache handy, even at the expense of hard drive space.
  6. My dad once bought a 800 MEGABYTE Hard drive for $300 I guess that was a lot of space back then...
  7. No. I don't believe there's a way to sign in while invisible (unlike Yahoo!, MSN, GAIM, etc...). You can only go invisible after you log-on. Are you using the 'old' AIM or AIM Triton?
  8. Pretty much in sig, but here goes. AMD Athlon 2400+ ECS K7VTA3 v8 Mobo 1 GB PC3200 RAM PNY GeForceFX5200 (manually OC) 160GB HDD (7200RPM) SyncMaster 930B (this monitor is AWESOME) Logitech G7/G15 As you can see, my motherboard and video card are teh suck, but at least my peripherals are good. I've done a whole tone of optimizing on my computer, so even with my specs, I can run Oblivion at 15/40 (outside/inside)
  9. VIOLATION! Failure to mention topic (topic in question is DVI monitor output!)

7800GTs are somewhat stable; I would probably prefer 6800SLi... super-stable... I know someone with 7800GTX SLi... so many BSODs you would not believe... but eye-popping performance nonetheless.
  11. Virus writers have a choice: infect maybe 10-15% of Mac or Linux users, or nearly 90% infecting Windows computers? Anyway, imagine how vulnerable MacOS users will be once they dual boot their Windows XP O_O

    ouch

MY EYES ARE BURRRRNNINNGGG!!!! Anyway, it does make sense that they make you do it (but I'm sure it doesn't make it feel any better ). I never knew how much work and dedication it takes to be a police officer; and with so little credit, you people are amazing
  13. Warm fuzzy feeling. And the final confirmation that your uber l337 computer knowledge totally pwns the other n00bs. a.k.a. it makes geeks feel better
  14. Because it's good for stress relief. I HATE NORTON!!!!!
  15. The tounge is the strongest muscle? I would've guessed the heart!
  16. I use eReader and MakeBook for my palm pilot, it takes *.txt files and converts them to a Palm-readable format. If you're looking for something to read on the computer, then scanning and then making it a PDF is probably the best way to go.
  17. I meant to say that we "came" from inanimate objects. And that we were brought about with a "nudege" if you will. And yes, men may have coined the term God, but that does not mean man created it. It is simply how we view a greater power -- like as an ant would look up to an elephant, it can't see the full scope of everything.

    ouch

He'd tell you, but then he'd have to shoot you.
  19. It means he has challenged you to a virtual cyber-posting flaming duel.

    Dual 7800GTS!??!?!?!!? *KILL*!!!!!
  21. Do you really think that a bunch of inanimate objects could just ... "evolve" into something living and breathing without some kind of higher power?
  22. My "experience" in this field is limited to one or two remote instances, but what the heck. The way I did it was use the IP address given to me in the CMD, using the command ipconfig /all. The following is an excerpt from the guide I used, which I think does in a way relate to your question... if not...sorry =/ [btw hamachi is just a Virtual LAN, so consider it a regular LAN... hope this helps]
  23. "Please install the following *.jpg images!!!" Goes on the list of stupid things to do, i.e., "Please download the uninstaller from the website," or "Are you not sure that you don't want to not uninstall the opposite of reversing the uninstallation of not reinstalling the application?"
  24. My parents call anything >$50 for a computer a waste of money.
