  1. Nevermind *nevermind*, you're too late. I thought for a while there, that I was the only one who bubbled when Lassie eventually got home. Although, I had no idea it had been remade. Get your tissues ready CeeCee:
  2. Can't beat that one.
  3. This iz thu fast replie you arsked for. Evry werd I speld rong woz hilited bi thu spel cheker. Hey, im enjoiing this.
  4. My only real claim to fame is sitting on the next table to Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Brian Jones in a place called the "Club A Gogo" in Newcastle, back in 1968. Had those weird lights that made your white shirt glow. Later that night, my mate and I bumped into Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull in Newcastle Central Station at about 3.00 am. They were trying to dodge the media, and we just wanted to get home. Seems like yesterday.
  5. A man after my own heart, and since the Enterprise went "where no one had gone before", I think it's only fitting that I Voyage off topic here, and put in a word for Babylon 5. I followed every episode of that amazing series for 5 years, and was inconsolable after watching the very last episode. Tear in the eye job, even worse than when "Lassie came home".
  6. Hey, you're forgetting, my daughter still goes to Seaham Hall, where she had afternoon tea with LLiam and Noel. If she ever bumps into Maca, we'll see if we can arrange something. But, you were bang on with your last sentence..... If it works for you, then that's really what it's all about. I could have gone with AVG, Avira or Avast, and I would undoubtedly have been singing the praises of whichever one I'd chosen. The same criteria would have valid with any of them.... If it ain't broke, why fix it?
  7. Yep, I've found that the Firefox spellchecker doesn't work as it does everywhere else. It's OK if you click "spell check this field", but you have to do that with each post. First version of FF I used worked perfectly, but I don't know if it's Firefox or the Forum move. Not life threatening, thought I'd give it a mention.
  8. Are you kiddin'. That's Data, off the Enterprise, and he's talking to me. That's like Paul McCartney saying "Hi rridgely, just brought your Antivirus up to date, man."
  9. I've been using Avast Home Edition for some months now, and I cannot fault it. The GUI? That's nitpicking really when you're talking about a solid, free Antivirus programme. How often do you need to use the interface? The Mac skin looks fine, and I can start a complete scan in about 3 seconds, and it auto updates usually every day as soon as I connect to the net. It also has a unique and neat feature? After you're virus database has been updated, you get an announcement. What's neat about that? It's the voice of Data, from Star Trek. Or a very good impersonation. I'm using it with Windows Firewall, and the combo works great on my PC. Is anything else better? I've no idea, as I've had no reason to change. Hope this helps.
  10. I'll look forward to that.
  11. From what I've learned on here over the last few months, I treat the registry with great respect. I'm using Registry Mechanic and CCleaner, but a good search feature is something I don't have. Will download and use with care.
  12. Found just the thing for those big cats.
  13. Changed mine. Saw this poor guy, and I just had to bring him home.
  14. You'll find 4 Open Source alternatives here. Hope this helps. Edit: Sorry, the pale text on that page wasn't too clear. Only one there for windows. There's another here, which looks quite good. And another free alternative, but you have to register. Here.
  15. Hang on a minute, Auslogics Reg defrag. Just noticed that. May give that miss.
  16. Although I use JKD, I like Auslogics as well, but I've no idea where I've been lately, I'm still using V1.1. Thanks for the link.
  17. I never cease to be amazed by the colours of insects, and your pics are great Lulu. The colours are really unusual. I think you're gonna have to catch one of those guys, and put him under a glass. But make sure you put him under the open end. Probably JDs parrot. Edit: Forgot to ask, what else do you have creeping and slithering around your garden? Worse still, what do you find wandering about your house?
  18. Paragon Hard Disk Manager 8 Special Edition + Complete Novice = Making new partition a piece of cake. What a good programme this is to work with, although I must admit I had everything crossed while it was doing its thing. Made a new 10gb partition successfully just using the New Partition Wizard. My bit only took a minute or less. It was when the rebooting started, and the Paragon Engine took over that I had everything crossed. I have no experience of partitioning software, but to the novice eye, this seems to be a very slick operator. Once everything was done, I quickly realised that like most new stuff we get, I needed a bigger one. With this software, this was just as easy. Advanced Partitioning Tasks > Redistribute Free Space Wizard. 30 seconds work. Paragon Engine does its thing. Job done. Now have a 25gb partition. Thanks Eldmannen, for the Partitioning thread. Thanks rridgely, for the initial Paragon software link and advice. Thanks to Sputnik for his link back in April, to the Exclusive Computeractive Download Offer - Paragon Hard Disk Manager 8. Free.
  19. A couple of days ago, my son was standing looking at the cereals in his local supermarket, when a guy about the same age comes and stands next to him on his left, also looking at the cereals. After a little while, this chap says "what sort of cereal do you prefer?" My son, at first a little taken aback replies "well, I normally eat muesli, but sometimes for a change I try a packet of corn flakes or bran". This chap slowly turns round to face my son with a look of total bemusement on his face, and it's only then that he notices the blue tooth phone strapped to the guys left ear.
  20. Experiencing a problem at the moment with Divx, which appears to have started since dowloading and registering the Pro codec, or, it could just be a coincidence. Either way I'm puzzled. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Edit: Solved this problem. Wasn't one really.
  21. Although I haven't explored this site in detail, it's obviously chock full of information for parents, teachers or whoever, who want to keep kids safe on the internet. There's a video on the home page which really sums up what the site is about. If you haven't seen this site before, I hope you find it useful, and if you have, spread it around. ThinkUKnow:
  22. I think I prefer the manual approach, but there's some stuff on that freeware site I hadn't seen, thanks for the link.
  23. The guy wants the boxed version, as he asked if it was still shrink wrapped as I stated in the ad. Maybe he's gonna sell it for a better price. He can do what he wants with it, I'm happy.
  24. I go straight to my inbox as well, but everytime I login I get this: I don't need it, I don't want it, and I can't get rid of it. So back again to the original Yahoo.
