You should probably tell us which antispyware program you are running. StopCC.dll is NOT part of Recuva. I don't know where stopCC.dll comes from. I can only find two hit for it on Google both on foreign anti-spyware forums. by the end of their posts it is removed! You may be infected I suggest you submit a HijackThis log in the Following section of the CCleaner forums.
  2. It says Yet it does exactly what the letter warns customers about Definitely Junk/Spam/Phishing Trash it. (link kept saftyfied links to CCleaner)
  3. lol, you all should move to either Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia, pick the right area and winter barely exists Though by the end of this week,I'll be visiting Columbus, Ohio for ~12 days and will get to feel cold again, brrrrrrr leaving lovely warm Queensland behind..... then I'll appreciate the heat here much more when I get back
  4. I'm not a sport fan, though some rally games are fun :-). WWITV Sport Channel List. WWITV has a long list of online TV streams.
  5. Congratulations Happy Birthday
  6. I use the same name and avatar whenever possible: fireryone f1eryone fieryone I use ccgamer for some reason on the Siteadvisor site and RTSWorld on Yahoo!Answers. feel free to say hi if you see/know me from somewhere else I've been using "fireryone" since 2002 mostly on Command & Conquer related forums and Newsgroups / GoogleGroups.
  7. Agreed, some even use their theory to blame WTC on the Jews as well... ....Conspiracy Theorist = Conspiracy Terrorist....
  8. DNS (Domain Name System) is used to convert IP addresses (the real address of a website) and translates it to/from a web address. So the DNS Server being sent the request, will either hold the address to the location or will forward the query on to another dns server with the authority to know, then it'll send the info back to your PC's browser and 'bingo' either the site loads or 'grrrr' ...... "Page cannot be found". So it would be quite usual for a program to request access to a dns server. EG. CCleaner was probably checking for updates so in this case it would be safe to allow it. Here is some further info for you to read up on: auditmypc.com IP-Address information even more info on DNS and IP addresses
  9. just to note: There forum has been hacked by Paradox_ Turkish H4cK3r here are is where the forum forwards to:
  10. Looks like quite handy software, being able to backup all drivers before doing a format could help many people. One of the guys at my college just formatted & reinstalled XP on his Dell XPS laptop and had trouble finding all the drivers, this could possibly save a lot of time and effort, if he had all the ddrivers backed up beforehand. I'll keep this hanging around my HDD
  11. sounds great. you'll have to post some specs for us to drool over.
  12. Nothing for ages, last memorable one was the kak or was it kack worm. NOD32 has stopped everything else way before infection, usually in emails....
  13. NOD32 is light but AFAIK it is taking around the 11Mb mark (kernel 9416K and user interface 2292K) on one of our systems, so AVG is very light . I've used avast it looks nice but does have problems occasionally It lost the skin a couple of times a wouldn't load the interface, had to find a way to go back to no skin to run a scan. also conflicted with a program I was running don't remember what now... hope that helps, I vote AVGFree (for a freeware AV) And NOD32 (for a commercial AV)
  14. Will we have to update our bookmarks or will the current address forward on?
  15. Nice to see a much re-requested suggestion make it in.
  16. Not really, its just un-check the tick box during install, or install the slim build.
  17. Yet, phc said he can delete them manually so it shouldn't be a "file in use" problem...
  18. I found I can stay logged on if I use forum.CCleaner.com but cannot with forums.CCleaner.com. I think forum.CCleaner is the correct address yet forums.CCleaner obviously forwards but maybe the cookies don't reflect that? So to stay logged in use forum.CCleaner.com
  19. yea it turned up on our machines aswell, I think is was a game I installed added it, I disabled it in msconfig (start/run type msconfig , select startup, uncheck issch) as I didn't need it auto updating.
  20. Check this topic as it is a known problem, though if this does not fix your problem post back. http://forum.CCleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=9029
  21. A useful idea from MajorGeeks.com MajorGeeks.com Vista Compatibility/Incompatibility List You can submit your results :edit: It actually covers more than Vista but somewhat helpful all the same
  22. Do you mean in Internet Explorer? If so, update to IE7 and its no longer there.
  23. Durius water effect using a Java Applet. Remember to unblock java blocking if you have trouble loading the applet.
  24. The .aspx extension is NOT the download, it is just a webpage, like .htm or .html, on that page is a list of available Cleaner versions, choose your preferred one.
