CCleaner deletes RoboFrom profile in Vista
fireryone replied to Talion's topic in CCleaner Bug Reporting
I suppose Roboform with CCleaner work fine on XP and your not using different Vista version of Roboform (if there is one)? What are the file extensions, maybe CCleaner is picking on them. Else ignore me and its just Vista bugs to be ironed out. -
sounds like a good idea

Problem with Harddrive after run CCleaner!
fireryone replied to JaniP's topic in CCleaner Bug Reporting
No, maybe some of the others will have an idea, I'm not sure how CCleaner could do this... (FYI: Just press the Print Screen key on your keyboard and open MS Paint click Edit/Paste then Save) -

Can you post a screenshot of disk management. [start] [Run] type compmgmt.msc click "disk Management" and take a screen shot, post it here. It may be we just have to re-initialize it, hopefully [example posted] -

Found one so far. When I use the find box, it changes the "Date Modified" collumn data to "State" and "State" to "Comment", and "Comment" is now empty. So it all moved over one to the left.

If you used CCleaner "Issues" clean, restore from the backup it asked you to create. -

huh Microsoft sends you a Vista key when you sign up for the Beta/Evaluation, if you mean this key then it will still expire. If you own vista and have official key y? not install the full one. I don't think its possible to use an XP key. please give more details

I think is a higher norm in non-3irdWorld country's as well than they think, most of the students at my college (not to mention tutors) and lots of the people I know think nothing of using pirated software/windows as well. Personally I prefer to stay away from pirated software, if I ever use it, it doesn't stay on for long, it usually ends up there because someone gave it to me. Either freeware/purchased/open source, software all the way, with an occasional dip in to that shady abandonware to enjoy an old game, or two. fireryone

have you tried restarting? try installing the latest version over the old one... I still have no idea why mine works now.. Try running a cleanup and a defrag (as long as you don't actually need to recover some files, or they might be corrupted)

I just got around to trying 1.01.021 today. and the problem has disappeared, I reinstalled 1.01.017 again and the problem did not reoccur either. don't know why but problem seems to be fixed for me.

I think the program should remember the last "recovery" folder, either permanently or for the current session. Its annoying to browse to my recover folder, each time I click Recover. It's probably outside this programs scope, but a preview pane would be good, ie. for images and text.

Sunbelt Kiero Personal Firewall (freeware version) on one and ZoneAlarm Personal on another. Pc came with Outpost free installed years ago, it kept resetting the machine (BSOD I believe) while browsing the Internet, it was a well known problem and outpost where not going to fix the free version they had discontinued, and wanted everyone to upgrade to the paid version which some I think still reported problems. Never tried it since, and wouldn't trust or use any Norton suite either. Sunbelt KPF does cause errors every now and then and takes forever to upload its error report, so i might change it over later.

Cool Hadn't seen that, the effect lasts for quite a while even over the a tft monitor.

I third that, empty folder deletion would be a useful addition. In the meantime you could try toniarts freeware easy cleaner http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm do NOT go to toniarts.com as it is being run buy a fake, who asks for payment to download the freeware software.

Did this happen after doing a cleaner and/or an issues clean? if just ran a system clean try doing a system restore to before installing CCleaner. if you ran an issues clean try to restore from the registry backup you made, or do a system restore. unless you get a more appropriate answer here, do a system restore.

yea 0Kb files should be marked unrecoverable and anything larger but likley unrecoverable should be something like your "partially unrecoverable" idea. I still agree filtering them out via check box would be handy. having the option to try to restore them is also good even if only partially, it may just be the part you needed. eg. document/text files
