  1. I started it about an hour ago and set about surfing with IE11. Nada. It's ver 2.1.62 (64-bit). EDIT: I intentionally went to a website that I found in the MVPS hosts file to see if it would be caught in HostsServer. Nope. (www dot widebanner dot com)
  2. I installed the 64-bit version (I have Win7 Pro x64) launched it and started the server. Started IE with the MVPS hosts file in place. Went to several websites including NBC Live Sports Extra and HostsServer captured nothing. I must be doing something wrong. It seems simple enough to use, not many controls. EDIT: I tried the x86 version but it would not install on my x64 OS.
  3. I'm not at all familiar with hostserver. I'll have to check it out.
  4. I've used the MVPS hosts file for many years without issue. Lately however, I've notice more & more mainstream websites won't work with the hosts file in place. I have to use HostsXpert to quickly switch between the MVPS file & the default MS file. It appears to be because the websites are inserting ads which MVPS blocks, stopping the website from going any further. Two examples: macys.com - my wife can't read customer reviews with the MVPS file in place. NBC Sports Live Extra - streaming sports videos won't play with the MVPS file in place. Has anyone else noticed this?
  5. Thanks, updated 2 machines. Found out it will be a month or more before Norton makes it's Toolbar compatible: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/firefox-41-and-norton-toolbar-compatibility
  6. DSL Reports (in your linked search list) recently launched one that works pretty well for me. http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest
  7. I was watching the Pocono race when it happened. Such a freak accident. Thoughts & prayers to his wife, 2 daughters, parents and his entire family. R.I.P. Justin Wilson
  8. You have me thinking about trying it. I'm also still on v4.19. Is it possible to reinstall v4.19 over the top of v5.05 if I want to go back?
  9. So following the FAQ, I turned off the Win10 notification in the System Tray. It keeps coming back. Seems to be after a reboot.
  10. Thanks for your timely post. I was trying to figure out why sometimes BlueStacks wouldn't start until I rebooted the PC, now I know why. I'm still using CC ver 4.19.4867 and that version breaks BlueStacks too. I've unchecked it in Applications. I know this older version won't get fixed so I'll just live with unchecking the app.
  11. I have it on my Win7 laptop, but not my Win7 desktop!?! Hmmm
  12. Looks like it. I've tried a couple of times over the past few days and get a page that says "Mode Maintenance."
  13. Mine (Lenovo T410 Model 2516CTO) is shown in the Motherboard section of Speccy.
  14. I'm sure there are lots of opinions out there on the temp subject. My Lenovo T410 laptop (Intel i7) generally runs in the 42°C range when idle. It will go over 50°C under heavier usage. Here is one opinion that says 75°C is about the max: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/pc-operating-temperatures-hot-hot/ Here is some more specific info: http://www.buildcomputers.net/cpu-temperature.html YMMV
  15. Thanks for the heads-up. Got it!
  16. I have a Lenovo T410 laptop and an M83 desktop. I checked the link that hazelnut posted and neither machine had Superfish installed.
  17. I have Windows Live Mail 2012 installed on 2 Win7 PCs. Start by going here --> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials Six Windows Live programs are listed on that page, with Windows Live Mail being one of the selections. Click the "Download now" button to download the wlsetup-web.exe setup file and then run it. You will be asked which of the 6 programs you want to install.
  18. Merry Christmas to all from cool and not-so-sunny Florida.
  19. Thanks for the heads up hazelnut. It was a quick update with HostsXpert.
  20. Thanks for the heads up. I uninstalled it from 2 Win7 machines even though I had not seen any problems with it installed.
  21. Thanks. Installed on 2-Win7 Pro x64 machines.
  22. Have you tried unchecking the MS Search option? Worked for me. The index no longer has to be rebuilt and I'm not seeing any more errors in the Event Viewer. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=42190
  23. I spent some time off and on over the past few days trying to figure out why the Index on my Win7 PC was getting reset and having to totally rebuild. Long story short, it turned out to be the MS Search option in CCleaner. I unchecked the option box and that resolved the issue. Fine, no problem with that. It took me longer than it should have to figure out what was happening because my brain was zeroed in on the word index(ing) since that's the way Win7 labels it. I passed over the term "MS Search" several times without it dawning on me. My suggestion is to expand the description from MS Search to something like MS Search & Indexing to make it more intuitive for people with brains wired like mine.
