  1. IE cookies. Perhaps try using the cleaning ability located in IE, run a chkdsk /f (WinVista instructions) on the drive you have Windows installed on, then give CCleaner a try again.
  2. One more thing to add into mta's list above: What web browser(s) are you using, and then attempting to clean with CCleaner?
  3. MVPS HOSTS File updated 26 November 2015. Download: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
  4. Sent that link to my mom so she can test her new Dell laptop, and told her if it is vulnerable to download the Dell updates.
  5. Don't know how you'd speed it up. Running Wipe Free Space so frequently will wear out your hard disk.
  6. Other's had this issue with other Piriform software. Their solution was to reinstall the software, in your case it would be to reinstall CCleaner. Here's the download page: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
  7. The subscription you've downloaded an update for. They're keeping track of something for whatever reason. Edit: I use several from the Known Abblock Plus subscriptions page which causes those cookies in that .txt document.
  8. I made a winapp2.ini entry to clean it for Firefox Portable. Maybe read-only works on it, I don't know but I'd imagine it would either get stored elsewhere or in memory. The only sites I've seen in it are from Adblock Plus subscriptions. I also don't use or have Flash installed anymore, had no need for it anymore starting several months ago. Here's that winapp2.ini entry I made: [Firefox Portable Super Cookies*] LangSecRef=3026 DetectFile=%SystemDrive%\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\SiteSecurityServiceState.txt Default=False FileKey1=%SystemDrive%\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile|SiteSecurityServiceState.txt
  9. CCleaner detects and lists them for Firefox Portable I'm using when cleaning: Cleaner > Applications > Firefox > Cookies I had wondered why all of a sudden some cookies were being created for Adblock Plus subscriptions I have that never were previously, now I know they're putting super cookies into that SiteSecurityServiceState.txt file.
  10. Is that a fresh installed XP SP3 without any updates installed from Microsoft Updates? Could be anything really on a fresh XP SP3 install without the Microsoft Updates such as outdated Root Certificates, general bug or stability fixes, etc.
  11. Well, don't forget those RECURSEFileKey1= entries.
  12. Untick/disable Office. Lets say it's Office 2010 you'd untick/disable Office 2010.
  13. Don't forget Trium to also update your SRWare Iron to v46.0.2450.0, it was released one day before the newest Firefox.
  14. That's why there's the recommendation of layered security! I personally wouldn't just install an antivirus of any brand rather it be free or paid and think I'm well protected, I know to put other scanning software on the system be it Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, SuperAntiSpyware, ClamWin Antivirus (since it's non-resident), etc. Doesn't matter how good/effective one product is because it will always miss something even if it's rated the highest or among the best.
  15. Usually when my Recycle Bin is stuck with the full icon, I'll make an empty new text document, delete it, and then use the Recycle Bin to clear itself which will usually cause it to display the correct empty icon. If the above isn't the issue have you tried a program that can flush the icon cache on Windows, and cause it to rebuild itself? Note that the same can be done by changing the Graphics Display (at least in XP it works) to a low Color Quality "Medium (16 bit)", and then immediately switch it back to the preferred "Highest (32 bit)".
  16. In the meantime you can manually add it into CCleaner so that it gets cleaned using an Include, see how here: http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/including-files-and-folders-for-cleaning
  17. Droyk when using ccleaner.ini it's easy to just type it in, of course you'd need to go into CCleaner's 'Options > Advanced' and then enable/tick 'Save all settings to INI file', then close CCleaner. Then look in the folder where CCleaner is installed and open ccleaner.ini to edit it. You can then paste in where that Chrome-based browser profile is located (something like this but you'll have to edit in the actual path where your profile is located): CustomLocation1=CHROME|C:\Path To Vivaldi\Profile
  18. I haven't used Avast for many years due to me having a commercial software installed that requires the Sentinel HASP License Manager. The one you mention that's a part of .NET Framework is something different. I'm in agreement with Hazelnut, give Windows Defender a try as you may be surprised and save a little money (if you don't like it try that Avast Premium), couple it with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for layered security.
  19. I'd recommend making a post for supporting it in another topic here that's pinned where people can request support of their preferred Chrome/Chromium browsers, maybe Piriform will eventually also add it into the Chrome cleaners.
  20. Do you by any chance have Aladdin/Sentinel HASP License Manager installed on your computer (viewable by looking in Add/Remove Programs)? It's a sort of popular DRM/protection installed by some commercial software. Only curious because you seem to purchase your security software and perhaps you do the same with other software too. The reason I brought it up is there's an incompatibility Avast has had for years since way back to version 5 with HASP License Manager which can make a system unbootable into the Windows normal mode meaning Safe Mode would have to be used to uninstall Avast in order to allow the system to be bootable again into normal mode.
  21. Your links are broken due to the [1], [2], and [3] tacked onto the end of them, all end up as 404 page not found. Also do not direct/hot link to downloads, most sites don't allow it.
  22. Most registry cleaners (even the overly aggressive variety) won't find leftovers for it. From my experience it has to be manually removed.
  23. This sound more like a bug perhaps and is different enough to deserve your own topic for it which I've just created.
