  1. Good suggestion! I've always wondered why they've never bothered implementing that feature. It could be a full fledged manager for the .REG backups to Restore a backup, and Delete a backup that's no longer needed.
  2. It's not just those two sources though. It's could also in part be from the umpteen YouTube videos where someone infects a system on purpose to test various anti-virus and anti-malware tools and their abilities to disinfect a system. Many of them start the "cleaning" process by first running CCleaner to remove temp files and browser cache which could greatly contribute to the confusion of people not familiar with CCleaner. Then there's also forums that write dedicated winapp2.ini cleaning routines to remove certain types of infections using CCleaner.
  3. Figures that Windows Update would be the tedious way. One of the reasons to also make a slipstreamed install DVD for the OS - Win7 instructions.
  4. Thank you. Just wish they supported portable builds of browsers via a plugin, or have an extension available on the Chrome Store and Firefox Addons.
  5. Must be some misinformation on the Internet because too many people think of it as being anti-malware when clearly it is NOT.
  6. Thank you for the update notification Hazelnut.
  7. It will not auto uninstall programs, you can make a script to do that on your system - just search the web to learn how. Or install some sandboxing software like Power Shadow or something similar that will completely remove all changes after rebooting.
  8. I've split this into its own topic since it had nothing to do with the original topic it was posted in.
  9. Go back long enough and those didn't exist. Just speculation but perhaps it was all the me too copycat cleaning tools which were blatantly stealing cleaning routines which caused it - this was before and after the winapp2.ini community file existence.
  10. Registry cleaning and not knowing exactly what's being removed is a tried and true way of messing up a computer, even if said registry cleaner is deemed by most of us as being more gentle.
  11. Pretty cat. Although like all cats it has that look of "if I were bigger I'd eat you."
  12. I personally think driving games are painful (literally a pain to the fingers) to play on the PS4 due to how the trigger buttons are now versus the PS3 controller.
  13. As for winapp2.ini showing you a ton of new programs you should try the trim.bat file. It's listed near the bottom of post 1 here, you just need to click the toggle box to display the information listed under "ADVANCED USAGE AND TRIMMING". trim.bat will remove programs from winapp2.ini that you don't have installed, saving you a ton of time versus having to do it manually. In other words to use the winapp2.ini file as it is in default form and having too much in it especially things you don't even have installed will only slow down CCleaner. ---------------- If you follow what Nergal stated in post 3 by adding the CustomLocation to your Firefox Lite and if detected it may instead show up using the standard Firefox name in CCleaner, it might not show up as Firefox Lite. If the Firefox boxes are tickable/usable you could right click one of the offered items to clean and choose Analyze from the popup menu to see if anything that can be cleaned is found.
  14. Just save the backups into your My Documents ("Documents") folder, surely those would all be separated between the various OSes you have installed unless of course you're using the same folder path for all of the OSes.
  15. I've been using Firefox Portable 46.0.1 from PortableApps.com as soon as they released it, never had one issue.
  16. The feature has existed for several years via using the winapp2.ini file.
  17. Since they're physical files run Analyze in CCleaner and see what's displayed in the window. Your version is outdated by several years, the current version supports your WinXP SP3 system, and you can update at: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  18. I was more into camera's when I was a kid, then for whatever reason grew out of it and then when digital camera's starting gaining popularity I was given a 2 megapixel camera and was disgusted with the for me unacceptable quality compared to actual film - that's ages ago though. I use my built-in zoom feature by squinting with mine or opening them wider.
  19. That backwards compatibility is good for the XB1 to have, one thing I always wished for with a system that could play a previous systems games was for some form of graphics improvement which has never panned out.
  20. It's in: Options > Advanced > Hide warning messages Edit: It will still display a warning in the cleaner window if it couldn't clean Edge, or any other browsers which are in-use.
  21. PS4 4K I've heard some news about watching the Machinima channel on YouTube, and how games made for 4K will also have to support the lower res HD qualities. Don't really care if they upgrade them more quickly or not since I have no need for a 4K yet. I almost think the rush to get 4K on consoles has to do with VR headsets! This is both good and bad since the consoles can be quite expensive, and I wonder will introducing upgraded hardware more rapidly just continue the current trend of "B.A.G." which someone coined as buggy ass games (he must've played Just Cause 3), since many games on the "Next Gen" systems seem significantly more buggy than the previous systems. Although from my experience I go through a console (due to them breaking down, especially the optical disc drives) about every 2 years and have to buy a new one, so when I'd have to buy a new one and if that purchase meant I'd be getting something more powerful I'm fine with that. It would be nice if both companies would implement a trade-in program where you could get at least $100 for your used but still working console to go towards buying a new console, then those used consoles parts could go through a certification and be used to fill up the parts bin for old consoles when doing warranty repairs since when a console fails not all parts inside of it are useless - I remember cannibalizing original PS1's for parts to make a broken PS1 work again, did the same with Sega Dreamcasts for several years.
  22. See if this helps: 1. Open CCleaner, and configure it to your preferences, and any Cookies to Keep that are important to you. 2. Go into Options > Advanced 3. Tick/enable Save all settings to INI file 4. Exit CCleaner. 5. Open the folder where CCleaner is installed and make a backup duplicate copy of the settings file ccleaner.ini ("ccleaner.ini.backup"), or optionally ZIP it in place so it resides in that folder - this will allow for easy restoration. You can optionally mark ccleaner.ini as read-only meaning any changes done inside of CCleaner won't be saved when it's closed - this will retain your preferences and CCleaner doesn't complain about the file being read-only.
  23. If you're wanting to save your IE 11 passwords in Win10 Hector_the_invincible had the solution in post 3: Going by what Hector_the_invincible wrote - to do this open CCleaner, and then: 1. Untick/disable Saved Passwords under both Internet Explorer and Edge in CCleaner. 2. Test by cleaning with CCleaner to make sure the passwords either remain intact, or if they're still being deleted. Then again the above instructions may not work according to this written by him also:
  24. She wants all the newest ("not the greatest") digital gadgets - not me however as I'm content using the gear I have until it goes poof and quits working forever.
