  1. I remember you not being able to get onto the forums for the longest time, due to it blocking you or something. Note that the forum is still a bit buggy at times.
  2. The Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) scan log can be posted on this forum for what's detected, it would help Piriform determine what's going on and to get into contact with Malwarebytes to remove any false positive detection. Without posting the log and what was detected this will go absolutely nowhere. You can also submit false positives to any anti-virus and anti-malware vendor where they can on their end determine if it's a false positive and then remove the detection. Also relying upon an anti-virus/anti-malware to phone home automatically any false positives (hard to believe in 2016 they don't do this) from what I've seen just doesn't work, at all. Instead the end-user has to interact by supplying the vendor with the file that's detected in order for the false positive to be removed or deemed malware. Most software I've seen gets detected via the setup exe file, however once unpacked/installed the anti-virus/anti-malware finds nothing wrong. One of the main reasons I primarily don't bother with installing software anymore and instead prefer a Portable zip version.
  3. If what Nergal wrote doesn't work, I've found with using Chrome-based browsers that some add-ons in Chrome/Chromium browsers have to be excluded so that CCleaner won't clean them 1. Open CCleaner and go into: Options > Exclude 2. Find the path where the Add-on/Extension saves its settings in your Chrome Profile folder, usually this will be in a sub-folder named Local Extension Settings. Example: Profile\Default\Local Extension Settings Full Example: C:\PortableApps\IronPortable\Profile\Default\Local Extension Settings
  4. Welcome back Ishan. Long time no see. It's good when people come back!
  5. It isn't dead, it just seems as though they've abandoned the freeware version while still maintaining and updating the paid Pro version which was last updated December 2015. It's not unusual at all, many freeware titles have followed that route. Although I have that seemly last freeware version installed it doesn't bother me personally that they've did this as I'm rarely if ever uninstalling software (also rarely if ever installing any either) to even require it.
  6. Although the galaxy has us in a gravitational lock, sure spin around and migrate as everything is spinning around a super massive black hole in the center of the galaxy.
  7. It's been buggy for years usually with displaying an incorrect install date, however the bug you're reporting is something new I believe.
  8. I'm glad my haircuts don't involve being knocked out and strapped down. Some of the stuff done in the name of science is just weird, and how and why they get grants to do some of the research is even more bizarre.
  9. Revo Uninstaller Free is however old, it was last updated July 2013 - source. Perhaps the free version is now abandonware, certainly seems that way and it makes it evident the Pro version is required in order to get the newest versions.
  10. It's not just the forum, it's site-wide, many pages on Piriform.com even if you initially open them using HTTPS will revert to non-secure when clicking a link. For example the Docs site https://www.piriform.com/docs where I'd much prefer to post a link to it in HTTPS which it will load fine as secure, but clicking any links shown on the page will make it non-secure.
  11. Many people use it on WinXP, I myself also use it on WinXP Pro SP3. Cleaning up crap/junk is what it does! Learn more about it at: https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner
  12. I haven't used Unlocker for years since the bundling in of adware began. Locked files or processes can often be unlocked by using Task Manager to end-task Explorer.exe and then start it again via Task Manager, and when that doesn't work just log off and log on - that's what I've been doing since Unlocker went the adware route. What I found infinitely more interesting than this discussion of Unlocker was the link you provided to herdProtect - I'll be giving the portable version a try.
  13. I've never trusted antivirus but for a completely different reason; they detect something, then it turns out to be a false positive. All I've ever gotten from them are false positives and a degrade in performance. Luckily I've never had any real infection, just those false positives, and I've scanned my system and files over the years with umpteen different anti-virus and anti-malware software. I do find it rather interesting if a system gets so badly infected it typically isn't the traditional anti-virus or anti-malware software that everyone knows and has installed that's used to remove it, usually it's some specialized tool.
  14. Who knows. I know 5.16 (CCleaner portable version) on the Win10 laptop I used it on would only sometimes clean Edge, i.e.; after the computer had been on for several minutes. CCleaner definitely won't clean Edge soon after a Windows startup/restart while all that background junk Windows is downloading is resident.
  15. I'm also on XP and I also use AnyBurn and haven't had any such issues. Unless you're saving those disc images in a Temp folder, for example: User Profile Temp folder: (Start > Run > type in %userprofile%\temp then click OK.) Windows Temp folder: (Start > Run > type in %windir%\temp then click OK.) Edit: Could just be a corrupt Recycle Bin, for instance you delete a big file such as a disc image but if the Recycle Bin is corrupt it might not actually empty when using CCleaner if cleaning the Recycle Bin is enabled/ticked in CCleaner. You can rule out a corrupt Recycle Bin by following these instructions: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/262482-45-corrupted-recycle-windows
  16. Supposedly they'll offer that tool for a bit longer on XP - not that I rely upon it though, I've never liked it, and I have other anti-malware that gets updated daily. Oh yeah that version you got two days ago should be updated again today to the April 2016 version.
  17. Usually Microsoft doesn't kill off all the old updates to unsupported OSes. People are too quick to throw old OSes under the bus because of what Microsoft states or so-called "security experts." A very old OS such as even Win98 can make a very good offline computer for very basic stuff, such as really old video games that newer OSes can't seem to play anymore, and even use one just as a big glorified MP3 player.
  18. They can't even give it to you for free!
  19. Maybe because of cookies being deleted. Configure which cookies to keep, such as those from Comcast. If they're however Flash based cookies see here.
  20. I still use it. If I needed a different OS I would seriously try out Linux before ever "upgrading" to Win10 - I do not like Win10 at all and I don't see that ever changing.
  21. Please don't start multiple topics about the same thing. Your original topic can be found here, this one is now closed.
  22. Blocking it may lead to getting an infection because Google can classify a site as unsafe relatively quickly - faster than our antivirus software which may or may not detect a malware infected site.
  23. Not worth bothering with that folder. I used to clean it out, but Firefox will just put it back since it's using Google's list of what's safe on the web such as blocking the ability to load a known by Google infected malware injecting site.
  24. The settings in CCleaner "may have went bad." It may or may not resolve the issue(s) by resetting the settings by going into: Options > Advanced, then click Restore default settings This will put CCleaner back into a "factory default" state as if it were never configured by you before, meaning any changes you've made will be completely lost - so you may wish to take note of what you have enabled or disabled in it.
  25. See the Cookies to Keep documentation here: http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/ccleaner-settings/choosing-which-cookies-to-keep/
