  1. In 'Cleaner > Applications (tab) > Applications' untick Office
  2. Even though you state you don't use IE, programs on your computer are. You could try going into IE's cleaning section and try to delete the Cookies from within IE itself and see if doing that makes CCleaner any faster. Note that IE's Index.dat file(s) can become corrupt, so perhaps running ChkDsk /F may help, and/or perhaps using a boot disc like BartPE may help where you can manually delete IE's Index.dat file(s) which is useful if they're corrupt.
  3. 1. Left over registry data. 2. And/or left over user application data, such as the Opera profile being left fully intact.
  4. Here's a collection of things to try when it won't install: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=5739
  5. It could be your antivirus or something not allowing it to run. Try the Slim build instead, it's available at: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  6. If you leave Secure Deletion on anything you delete to the Recycle Bin will be securely deleted by CCleaner when it empties out the Recycle Bin. I however agree and have wanted a right-click secure file/folder delete option via CCleaner for many years, it's been asked for before but never implemented.
  7. Did you use the Registry Cleaner? If so did you allow it to create the backup it offered to create? If so the backup by default would be stored in the My Documents folder as a .REG file, double-clicking it will put the removed registry data back into the Windows registry. If you have a recent System Restore Point try restoring from it - no guarantee it will fix anything though, but if it does it's a quick and easy way with minimal effort.
  8. This was a reported issue by many users, where it was mistakenly or in error informing people there was a new version when there wasn't actually a new version available.
  9. For me the Portable version download works in Firefox 45.0.2.
  10. The issue would probably be something cleaned in the registry, just because it worked without an issue on one machine doesn't mean it won't cause issues on another. On Win10 machines I personally leave the registry cleaner portion alone.
  11. Try to find out where it's storing its settings, and then exclude those settings file or folder in CCleaner at 'Options > Exclude'. For some reason Chrome/Chromium-based browsers have extensions which get their settings deleted by CCleaner which is made evident by the number of posts on this forum about it which is also backed up by many user comments on the Chrome Store for particular extensions such as adblocking software, etc. Edit: See if this helps any, or gives a clue of where to look for what to exclude: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=45274
  12. MAC users on the forum are very limited as most use the Windows version of CCleaner - meaning for those of us that don't use MAC we're not qualified to answer questions. The developers rarely post, and typically only ask/answer questions if it pertains to bugs.
  13. I'm glad my 2TB USB Hard Disk has a working Recycle Bin! Based upon this topic I'm going to now maximize the Recycle Bin available space should I accidentally delete my music collection or hard disk image files.
  14. Saw the news yesterday in a Machinima YouTube video. Never owned one but thought of getting one several times in the late 2000s, never got one based upon having to pay for the online features where they were free with the PS3.
  15. While the suggestion worked to restore your files it's worth also having a good backup strategy such as using disk imaging software to backup everything, or something that will copy your important files to external storage such as a USB Thumb Drive, Portable Hard Disk, CDs/DVD, etc.
  16. Either this is a Windows limitation or there's a minimize bug when using the Secure Overwrite feature that uses another window within the main program GUI to display the on-going status. How to reproduce (I've did this twice): 1. Minimize Recuva during a Secure Overwrite. I let it completely finish with the overwrite. Finished will be indicated when the minimized window for it in the systray blinks a few times. 2. Now Recuva can't be brought back into view by clicking it in the systray, it's completely stuck there, there's also no right click options for it either. It also can't be switched to using ALT+TAB. The only way to exit Recuva at that point is to End Task it using Task Manager. Info: * Recuva v1.52.1086 (most current version) * WinXP Pro SP3
  17. Poor man's guide to time travel: Look up at a clear night sky and see the stars at all that old light. Same goes for the Sun with the 8.3 minutes old light that bathes the planet - just don't look at our local star as it will cause eye damage.
  18. Haven't used it for at least 15 years. One would think a big company like Apple would be more responsible and remove the download. Just get VLC Media Player or something robust along those lines.
  19. Are you using the free install version or the portable version supplied via a zip archive? I can tell you the portable version (which is what I use) has it completely disabled.
  20. I remember you not being able to get onto the forums for the longest time, due to it blocking you or something. Note that the forum is still a bit buggy at times.
  21. The Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) scan log can be posted on this forum for what's detected, it would help Piriform determine what's going on and to get into contact with Malwarebytes to remove any false positive detection. Without posting the log and what was detected this will go absolutely nowhere. You can also submit false positives to any anti-virus and anti-malware vendor where they can on their end determine if it's a false positive and then remove the detection. Also relying upon an anti-virus/anti-malware to phone home automatically any false positives (hard to believe in 2016 they don't do this) from what I've seen just doesn't work, at all. Instead the end-user has to interact by supplying the vendor with the file that's detected in order for the false positive to be removed or deemed malware. Most software I've seen gets detected via the setup exe file, however once unpacked/installed the anti-virus/anti-malware finds nothing wrong. One of the main reasons I primarily don't bother with installing software anymore and instead prefer a Portable zip version.
  22. If what Nergal wrote doesn't work, I've found with using Chrome-based browsers that some add-ons in Chrome/Chromium browsers have to be excluded so that CCleaner won't clean them 1. Open CCleaner and go into: Options > Exclude 2. Find the path where the Add-on/Extension saves its settings in your Chrome Profile folder, usually this will be in a sub-folder named Local Extension Settings. Example: Profile\Default\Local Extension Settings Full Example: C:\PortableApps\IronPortable\Profile\Default\Local Extension Settings
  23. Welcome back Ishan. Long time no see. It's good when people come back!
  24. It isn't dead, it just seems as though they've abandoned the freeware version while still maintaining and updating the paid Pro version which was last updated December 2015. It's not unusual at all, many freeware titles have followed that route. Although I have that seemly last freeware version installed it doesn't bother me personally that they've did this as I'm rarely if ever uninstalling software (also rarely if ever installing any either) to even require it.
  25. Although the galaxy has us in a gravitational lock, sure spin around and migrate as everything is spinning around a super massive black hole in the center of the galaxy.
