    Error 1606

audibrian >> Use %UserProfile% instead of C:\Users\@USERNAME@\, this works without having to change the username with your name Instead of C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming, you can use %AppData% and %LocalAppData% for C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local.
  2. Eh.... Tu peux le dire en fran?ais, je traduirais, je crois que c'est plus simple, parce que l? personne a compris je crois [i'm asking him to say it in French. I'll translate. This'll be better...]
  3. ...This topic is more than 2 years old...
  4. It's fast... Acid2 100%, Acid3 93%....Having 100% at an Adic Test is not the most important thing on a browser
  5. 1. Yes, this would be great. 2. This'd be really neat. And automatic backups, too. (without asking user) And a way to restore backups without having to merge the REG file (most users don't know what is a reg file) 3. Not really important... 4. I don't know... 5. Yes...Windows's uninstaller has that feature...(it is in whe Seven uninstaller, I don't know if it is in Vista / XP) 6. Good idea. 7. Hey, that was my idea I totally agree ; This would dramatically reduce the number of "bugs" people are having after running reg cleaner. 8. Those NEVER work. 9. Why not...
  6. I looked into winapp.ini. %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data is %LocalAppData%

    Lost Free Space

What's the total size of the drive ?
  8. Small problem : %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\ doesn't exist anymore in Vista/Seven There is %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\ (= %appdata%) and %userprofile%\AppData\Local\ .
  9. It is hidden for now... Here's the link for FF 3.5 RC1 in US English for Windows : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/down...&lang=en-US If you want another language/system... 1) Go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html 2) Right-click on your system and language link >> Copy link. 3) Open a new tab and hit Ctrl + V (paste) 4) Replace "b4" in url with "rc1" 5) Hit Enter. It has a new logo Changelog : If you want to use all your extensions without having to install Nightly Testers Tools : 1)Go to about:config. 2)New value >> Boolean. Name : extensions.checkCompatibility Value : false
  10. I think "Old Prefetch Data" means "files in C:\Windows\Prefetch\ older than X days".... Anyway, cleaning Prefetch is not a good idea and will not improve your computer's performance (even if lots of sites are saying disabling Prefetch is good) I think Microsoft programmers know better what is good and what is not than most of the users.
  11. "File Sharing" This is peer-to-peer. "Fridge" You send a txt file, and the application writes it onto a virtual post-it. p2p too. "Media Player" This requires uploading music on Opera servers. "Photo Sharing" p2p. "The Lounge" Like the Fridge, only a different interface. "Web Server" Ooookay. For this to work you must spend a lot on electricity....Unless this is hosted by Opera servers. Nothing in those things are new.
  12. ...If I'm not mistaken, this is only p2p and some basic things to use received files ?
  13. The only way CCleaner could delete obsolete PF entries would be to do a search for every EXE on the computer, and delete PF files if they don't "belong" to an EXE. This is not the way CCleaner works.
  14. For children under 12 and children doing stupid thing with their computers, this is useful (and, if I'm not mistaken, it was built into Win7 Beta but they removed it from the RC, it was called "guest mode"). For every other children, this is stupid. If you don't want your children going to porn sites or downloading bad software (keygens / reg cleaners / ...), just explain them why this is not good. If you restrict their access to a lot of things, they'll have only one idea in mind : Crack your parental control to see what you don't want them to see. And they'll not like you.

    C++ Programming

I don't think so. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Win...ows_3.0_and_3.1 Windows 95/95/ME/NT/CE have a total of 1.48% of market share. Not doing something because you don't want 1 users out of 68 not being able to use your program is not a good idea...

    Firefox

Somewhere in the options window...there's a checkbox for it. I don't know where it is exactly, because I'm using 3.5b99 and that checkbox is in a different place.
  17. You should untick Wipe Free Space, because it's useless (unless you have reaaaaaaaaally important data erased on your drive) and it takes a lot of time.
  18. Already done. They'll be in the next version. PS : You made a lot of mistakes in your translation
  19. You don't need IE anymore in Vista/Seven for Windows Updates In Seven, you can uninstall IE with Add/Remove Windows Features (or something like this, I don't know the name in English)
  20. Now maybe the European Commission will understand that telling Microsoft to remove IE was not a good idea..... I think there'll be a lot of PCs with Chrome or Safari (Apple and Google both have plenty of money...) And a lot of confused users because they don't understand what's "Google Chrome" (what's this, does it makes my PC more resistant to impacts ?) or "Apple Safari" (maybe you can hunt apples in Africa with this ?) because they didn't know you could browse the Web with something other than IE. Furthermore, I don't think Mozilla has enough money to pay manufacturers... Now for the 1,000,000$ question : What'll happen if you buy a Win7 CD ? You'll have to use an USB stick to install IE/FF/Chrome/whatever ? This is silly... I don't like IE, but removing it entirely from Windows is stupid. I think it is normal, in an OS, to have a browser.
  21. This is a framework required to use programs written in C#, VB.NET, and lots of other programming languages. It only takes 250 MB. If you want to use programs written in .NET languages, you should update it. BTW, you should consider looking at updates more often... .NET 3.5 SP1 was released on 11 August 2008... Having Automatic Updates set to automatically install updates is a good thing...
  22. Don't forget to clean Flash cookies
  23. Did you try what metalj said ? You cannot replace explorer with something else. You can use something else, like Total Commander, but you can't replace it. Another thing with explorer : Click on the taskbar. Alt + F4. Windows asks you if you want to shutdown your computer...
  24. Simple suggestion : Add a warning message, displayed when the user clicks on "Registry" part (with a "Never show this again" checkbox) to say something like "Registry clean may cause problems. Do not delete a key unless you know what it is". Useful for all users believing they can safely clean everything...
