  1. Copy Paste the following into a blank text file and save as (allfilestype) Winsys2.ini ;LangSecRef ; 3001 = Internet Explorer ; 3002 = Windows Explorer ; 3003 = System ; 3004 = Advanced ;Or simply enter text to create a custom section :LangSecRef=My Section [*Search Assistant Autocomplete] LangSecRef=3002 LangRef=3123 Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant Default=True RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru [*Icon Cache] LangSecRef=3002 Default=true FileKey1=%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data|IconCache.db FileKey2=%LocalAppData%|IconCache.db [*Config.msi Folder] LangSecRef=3003 Default=True DetectFile=%windir%\system32\msiexec.exe FileKey1=%systemdrive%\Config.msi|*.*|RECURSE [*MSConfig] ; Removes the MSConfig.exe ExpandFrom and ExpandTo MRU list after ; using the Expand File feature (aka .cab file extraction tool). ; Also removes MSConfig from autostarting when Windows does after ; you've intentionally disabled a Start Up program. 2. uh yes yes I do but I will quote it for you (perhaps your forum settings or post rating forbids signature views) EDIT: HAHA I didn't even realize that it was ident who said that, I thought it was the OP Ident, by the way your sig needs another o, or is it meant to say as it does "bring item a" to "item b" http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/to.html
  3. 1. hmm can you do the following. run analyis to get the 220MB result right click on the results and choose save log. next run cleaner and again save the log, as a seperate file, report back here with the difference between the two logs (you can use WinMerge or other file comparing programs to easily find the differences if they are not readily noticable) or post both logs in this thread (as attachments) and I'll download and compare them 3. I'm not so sure on the speed a search should take, are you searching on the same drive on which recuva is installed? (I use portable version so it's rarely on the drive I'm scanning and when it is that drive is no bigger than 4 GB. Mine did . 5. http://docs.piriform.com/recuva/troublesho...a-in-debug-mode 6. I Haven't really tested recuva on formatted. I use my heavy guns for that, but for that you will want to use deep scan.
  4. was cursing (even censored) really necessary? Uncheck delete only temp files older than 24 hours, run at admin permissions (Vista/Win7) or as an Administrator (XP) don't defrag flash memory it's bad for it, proper Flash memory defragmentation method is: Copy everything off drive, copy everything back onto drive. On System harddrives more fragmentation is do to Windows (XP? and newer) creating Sysrestore points whenever ANY 3rd party Defrag is run (Much discussion on this already in the forum) Turn off deep scan searchs and works fine on all my portable media Run in debug mode post debug results to recuva forum, what do you mean you feel it crashes? is this just a translation thing in your post? how soon were they deleted? are other products (Disk Digger, Restoration, paid products) able to find them? I do apprecitate this post though, don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to address your comments (I do not work or speak for Piriform or any other software maker)
  5. You are writing a ton of data to the drive each and every time you use WFS (it writes a super large file filled with zeros then destroys (delete bypassing Recycle bin) that file. A Hard drive can withstand a finite amount of writes. no, because I find WFS to be an evil feature of CCleaner and do not support the Devs bending to "popular" DEMAND and adding it, especially to the cleaner section (at the very most it should be in tools or it's own program) The ONLY time I would suggest using it is when selling the computer, and even then I've not tested the efficacy of Formating a drive>reinstalling the OS>running WFS and then checking with a variety of Recovery software (I've got Recuva, Disk Digger, Restoration 2.5.14, EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard 5.0.1 and Runtime GetDataBack for NTFS)
  6. Asked and anwered a billion times. Read my signature as to why I think this is a horrible idea
  7. overuse of wipefreespace will kill the HDD early. I use some of Advanced always others ONY WHEN I NEED THEM.
  8. Which is exactly the point of using a service like VT to make certain, now if you had 19/34 maybe that would be different;even then though many Virus checker false spot anything that edits/cleans registry and protected folders. to summarize cCleaner is in no way a virus/Trojan/or any other type of malware
  9. Spiff while they add it to the next version add the following into your Winapp2.ini [OpenOffice 3.1] ID=2143 LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\OpenOffice.org\OpenOffice.org\3.2 Default=True FileKey1=%appdata%\OpenOffice.org\3\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Histories.xcu If you need help with a WinApp2.ini there is a Sticky Topic in the Ccleaner board
  10. Also not mentioned: Are you cleaning the Cleaner section? or the registry section?
  11. Also why are you downloading not 2.29?
  12. [OpenOffice 1.14] ID=2125 LangSecRef=3021 DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\OpenOffice.org1.1.4\program\soffice.exe Default=True FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\OpenOffice.org1.1.4\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Common.xcu [OpenOffice 2.0] ID=2126 LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\OpenOffice.org\OpenOffice.org\2.0 Default=True FileKey1=%appdata%\OpenOffice.org2\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Common.xcu [OpenOffice 2.1] ID=2127 LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\OpenOffice.org\OpenOffice.org\2.1 Default=True FileKey1=%appdata%\OpenOffice.org2\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Common.xcu [OpenOffice 3.1] ID=2143 LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\OpenOffice.org\OpenOffice.org\3.1 Default=True FileKey1=%appdata%\OpenOffice.org\3\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Histories.xcu You are correct 3.2 is not listed Can you Post if there is the following key in your registry? HKLM\SOFTWARE\OpenOffice.org\OpenOffice.org\3.2 also is the file location and name still the same for openoffice histories (open Start menu and type %appdata% in the searchbox and press enter find the OpenOffice.org Folder is the next folder "3" ? is there still within that folder \user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Histories.xcu
  13. Yup and As far as I can tell CCleaner does now and has always cleaned it (thus it being a temp file cleaner program) and it does
  14. C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local is not solely a Temp folder
  15. Also you could download the Portable version and not have any call home or install
  16. I guess you are on Vista or Windows 7 YEs? Microsoft No longer wants you to remove said packs from those OS's as it causes issues in new patches (Starting with Vista SP1)
  17. the amount given in analysis is a estimation this is answered plenty on this forum but if short, this is a normal occurrence
  18. Just to be clear do you mean windows xp and Office (outlook) 2003? Are you running just the cleaner section? or the registry section? Is Office 2003 checked off? can you post your ccleaner.ini (sanitizes User name if you wish but other than that leave it untouched)
  19. What errors are you seeing with WLM. Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it? You need to give us more information before we can help you. That said, If you "bought" ccleaner from anywhere but here or FileHippo you've been tricked and need to seek repayment. As stated above ccleaner is (always has been) completly free, fully featured no criple, and any payment is donation.
  20. uh what? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defragment
  21. Dennis, it was nice of you to give him the benefit on your doubt but he is a commerical spammer for his own product Link removed to fix ability of spammer to have a link available
  22. Yes history dat and internet cache dat (if protected mode) are located now in the temp file directory. I have added them to my exclude files section
  23. there's really no need to clean that often and has the possiblity of giving your drive a early death. if you are wanting to do this because of internet tracks then perhap ieprivacykeeper may be a better fit.
  24. I have an old version of CCleaner which I run on m'win98 Virtual Machine You can get old versions from The File Hippo link. That said if the win95 is your main machine or even if it is a real (not virtual) machine you are 1) putting yourself at major risk for identity theft 2) missing over a decade worth of computer and internet progress and safety. There is zero reason to be running that, buit for your own good do not enter the internet with it. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/tech/1/ may well run on win95 (i've yet to build my 95 vm or I'd test for you)
