A: if yes Did you make backups as suggested? i: if yes merge the backups back into the registry ii: if no you will need to run system restore to get the registy back into running B: if no then it is doubtful ccleaner caused this issue 2: from now on when doing registry follow the advises in my signature
  2. Can you tell us if the locations listed as detect exist on your PC [Google Chrome - Internet Cache] ID=2013 Section=Google Chrome LangRef=3161 Default=True DetectFile=%localappdata%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe DetectFile2=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe SpecialKey1=N_CHROME_CACHE [Google Chrome - Internet History] ID=2014 Section=Google Chrome LangRef=3162 Section = Chrome Default=True DetectFile=%localappdata%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe DetectFile2=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe SpecialKey1=N_CHROME_HISTORY [Google Chrome - Download History] ID=2015 Section=Google Chrome LangRef=3163 Default=True DetectFile=%localappdata%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe DetectFile2=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe SpecialKey1=N_CHROME_DOWNLOAD [Google Chrome - Cookies] ID=2016 Section=Google Chrome LangRef=3102 Default=True DetectFile=%localappdata%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe DetectFile2=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe SpecialKey1=N_CHROME_COOKIES [Google Chrome - Saved Form Information] ID=2017 Section=Google Chrome LangRef=3164 Default=False DetectFile=%localappdata%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe DetectFile2=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe SpecialKey1=N_CHROME_FORM [Google Chrome - Compact Databases] ID=2147 Section=Google Chrome LangRef=3165 Default=False DetectFile=%localappdata%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe DetectFile2=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe SpecialKey1=N_CHROME_COMPACT_DATABASES
  3. iirc SAS should use backup semantics and thus not touch access date. EDITed b/c I was misreading Ident's quote as a statement and not a quote
  4. hiberfil.sys is the file windows uses to store your session when you hibernate the computer pagefil.sys is the prefetch file (I believe) Defragging either of these files can cause the system issues so Microsoft has made them not to be touched by defragging
  5. first of all upgrade your ccleaner, there is no reason to use such an old version if the only thing you want to clean is the temporary files dir then yes only place a check mark in that box and press clean, if you ran analyis you can look at the results to see what will be cleaned when you press clean; though in this case would it not just be easier to sort the directory by date and manually delete the items? To note ccleaner (if the option is checked in OPTIONS>ADVANCED) will clean all but the last 24 hours of temp files not 48.
  6. Winapp1.ini is the applications that are already embedded in the ccleaner program. it is available (for educational and techsupport purposes on the forum) but is no long distributed as a seperate file with ccleaner in order to make the cleaner package more compact (especially for those, like me, for whom ccleaner is a must have portable application. Including Winapp2.ini with the package (though suggested quite often) is, IMNSVHO, a bad idea. I feel this for two reasons; the first of which is winapp2.ini is for not commonly distributed applications that you might have that others don't, in fact the sample ini has even been pulled from the forum as it was meant to be a template for users to make their own. The second reason, that I feel it should not be delivered with cCleaner, is that it would be redundant, if the developers wanted these products to be cleaned and included with CCleanertech supportseparateCCleanerCCleaner . . . well they'd juCCleanerst add them to the winapp1 (see above answer). Mostly 2.ini (you can also make a winsys2 and a winreg2) are there so that the user base and advanced users can tailor make a program to be cleaned for a specific user (see some of my recent posts wherein I have made a "open office 3.2" and a "flash recent items" entry for other users.
  7. it's already in ccleaner (from embedded ini) Quicktime Player] ID=2035 LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKLM\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime Default=True RegKey1=HKLM\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime\Recent Movies FileKey1=%userprofile%|QTPlayerSession.xml FileKey2=%appdata%\Apple Computer\QuickTime|QTPlayerSession.xml [Quicktime Player Cache] ID=2036 LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKLM\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime Default=True FileKey1=%localappdata%\Apple Computer\QuickTime\downloads|*.*|RECURSE
  8. In fact it'll slow you 'puter down temporaral,y as prefetch is there to well pre fetch. however old prefetch files are usless and usually redundant
  9. MR. T can you file a Vero claim? http://pages.ebay.co.uk/vero/index.html Of course with e(vil)Bay it is buyer beware. . . and the seller explicitly tells you that you are buying freeware
  10. this may help http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsg...f9a0012&p=1 and this http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.p...704461a6314cfc1 (PaBear is very knowledgable) esp read reply 3 Finally if none of these help http://www.google.com/search?q=vista+80070490 and like magic you'll find this is NOT a windows 7 only err /me dances on his own grave
  11. The only way to kill the list in the first link you provided (other than from that link) is to delete %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol Of course this will delete ALL of your Flashplayer settings which is fine if you don't have sites you want to save you can also add [*Adobe Flash All Site History] Warning=This will remove all sites from Flash Player's Settings (Trusted sites, Privacy, Storage and Peer Assisted Networking). There is no way to exclude sitea. LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKCU\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer Default=False FileKey1=%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys|settings.sol to your winapp2.ini and it'llclean some of the information

    $BadClus

Via Google Translate Hello, unfortunately I can not speak English, maybe someone can help me anyway? If you click on the purple area that appears "reserved MFT zone", while later in the block view "$ BadClust ...." What does this mean?
  13. for sans Yahoo bar use the slim build http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/builds Also, it's best to edit your posts instead of double posting when you've not yet received an answer (General Internet Forum etiquette)
  14. go to options>Advanced put a check in save settings to ini file go to the ccleaner directory (e.g. c:\program files\ccleaner ) open ccleaner.ini with note pad and print
  15. Copy Paste the following into a blank text file and save as (allfilestype) Winsys2.ini ;LangSecRef ; 3001 = Internet Explorer ; 3002 = Windows Explorer ; 3003 = System ; 3004 = Advanced ;Or simply enter text to create a custom section :LangSecRef=My Section [*Search Assistant Autocomplete] LangSecRef=3002 LangRef=3123 Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant Default=True RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru [*Icon Cache] LangSecRef=3002 Default=true FileKey1=%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data|IconCache.db FileKey2=%LocalAppData%|IconCache.db [*Config.msi Folder] LangSecRef=3003 Default=True DetectFile=%windir%\system32\msiexec.exe FileKey1=%systemdrive%\Config.msi|*.*|RECURSE [*MSConfig] ; Removes the MSConfig.exe ExpandFrom and ExpandTo MRU list after ; using the Expand File feature (aka .cab file extraction tool). ; Also removes MSConfig from autostarting when Windows does after ; you've intentionally disabled a Start Up program. 16. uh yes yes I do but I will quote it for you (perhaps your forum settings or post rating forbids signature views) EDIT: HAHA I didn't even realize that it was ident who said that, I thought it was the OP Ident, by the way your sig needs another o, or is it meant to say as it does "bring item a" to "item b" http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/to.html
  17. 1. hmm can you do the following. run analyis to get the 220MB result right click on the results and choose save log. next run cleaner and again save the log, as a seperate file, report back here with the difference between the two logs (you can use WinMerge or other file comparing programs to easily find the differences if they are not readily noticable) or post both logs in this thread (as attachments) and I'll download and compare them 3. I'm not so sure on the speed a search should take, are you searching on the same drive on which recuva is installed? (I use portable version so it's rarely on the drive I'm scanning and when it is that drive is no bigger than 4 GB. Mine did . 5. http://docs.piriform.com/recuva/troublesho...a-in-debug-mode 6. I Haven't really tested recuva on formatted. I use my heavy guns for that, but for that you will want to use deep scan.
  18. was cursing (even censored) really necessary? Uncheck delete only temp files older than 24 hours, run at admin permissions (Vista/Win7) or as an Administrator (XP) don't defrag flash memory it's bad for it, proper Flash memory defragmentation method is: Copy everything off drive, copy everything back onto drive. On System harddrives more fragmentation is do to Windows (XP? and newer) creating Sysrestore points whenever ANY 3rd party Defrag is run (Much discussion on this already in the forum) Turn off deep scan searchs and works fine on all my portable media Run in debug mode post debug results to recuva forum, what do you mean you feel it crashes? is this just a translation thing in your post? how soon were they deleted? are other products (Disk Digger, Restoration, paid products) able to find them? I do apprecitate this post though, don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to address your comments (I do not work or speak for Piriform or any other software maker)
  19. You are writing a ton of data to the drive each and every time you use WFS (it writes a super large file filled with zeros then destroys (delete bypassing Recycle bin) that file. A Hard drive can withstand a finite amount of writes. no, because I find WFS to be an evil feature of CCleaner and do not support the Devs bending to "popular" DEMAND and adding it, especially to the cleaner section (at the very most it should be in tools or it's own program) The ONLY time I would suggest using it is when selling the computer, and even then I've not tested the efficacy of Formating a drive>reinstalling the OS>running WFS and then checking with a variety of Recovery software (I've got Recuva, Disk Digger, Restoration 2.5.14, EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard 5.0.1 and Runtime GetDataBack for NTFS)
  20. Asked and anwered a billion times. Read my signature as to why I think this is a horrible idea
  21. overuse of wipefreespace will kill the HDD early. I use some of Advanced always others ONY WHEN I NEED THEM.
  22. Which is exactly the point of using a service like VT to make certain, now if you had 19/34 maybe that would be different;even then though many Virus checker false spot anything that edits/cleans registry and protected folders. to summarize cCleaner is in no way a virus/Trojan/or any other type of malware
  23. Spiff while they add it to the next version add the following into your Winapp2.ini [OpenOffice 3.1] ID=2143 LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\OpenOffice.org\OpenOffice.org\3.2 Default=True FileKey1=%appdata%\OpenOffice.org\3\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office|Histories.xcu If you need help with a WinApp2.ini there is a Sticky Topic in the Ccleaner board
