  1. CCleaner is also able to display the cookies in the Options tab / Cookies. Are they still appearing there as well?
  2. Is there not more people than that interested by cleaning up that uselless stuff ? .. on my PC it s more than 1 GB in total so are we not talking about cleaning here ?
  3. Hello, Windows will recreate anyway after a reboot the History folder and the Temporary Internet Files folder even if you had removed them previously; this is fine. What is really worth cleaning when you wish to clean them is to have their contents deleted... Do you know what use are those folders for ? You were talking about the folder C:\Documents and Settings\your_account\Local Settings\History weren't you? (Windows XP)
  4. Hello, mmmm .. if you already know what is exactly misssing in the CCleaner program compared to the other one, why don't you simply provide the list of stuff that you think is missing in CCleaner, only to be more precise and to start the discussion on them ?... maybe they are valid reasons not to delete this or that.

    Registry

Hello, Maybe you'd better provide more information on what you mean by ARPCache.. So I guess you mean the Add Remove Programs Cache ?... what is actually under the following registry key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache (not to be confused with the Address Resolution Protocol Cache I guess ) I have read somewhere that this registrey key contains extra information, such as , size , frequency of use, last used on, that can be seen in the Add/Remove Programs list of Applications installed. So I suppose it is not a real good idea to only zap everything in it, but to fine tune what stuff can be actually removed , at least related to Applications that have been already uninstalled. That is what is probably tricky to analyse... Hope my answer satisfies you .. but probably best to be corrected or confirmed by the CCleaner developer
  6. Hello, I wonder why CCleaner does not propose to clean up the old Windows Packs&Patches&KrosoftProgs Uninstaller folders as the same way as it proposes already to clean up the Hotfix Uninstaller folders ? I mean the following Windows folders: %WINDIR%\$NtServicePackUninstallIDNMitigationAPIs$ %WINDIR%\$NtServicePackUninstallNLSDownlevelMapping$ %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallMSCompPackV1$ %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallWIC$ %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallWMFDist11$ %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallwmp11$ %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallWudf01000$ and so on ... %WINDIR%\ie7updates %WINDIR%\ie8updates I know well that once they are cleaned up the related stuff can't be uninstalled anymore; so fine. I only mean as a windows cleaning program this could be proposed. The related uninstall keys in the Registry could be cleaned as well, so they don't appear anymore in the Add/remove Programs list.
  7. Thanks for you contribution and sharing your experience on this matter. Very much appreciated. As we don't know for most of those windows folders which ones could be cleaned-up and how, for the time being I would not try to delete contents out of them. However what I could at least do is to move those folders and files at the end of the partition/disk to faster windows and apllications on my PC. I am talking here of about 3 GB ! "C:\Windows\Installer" (1321 MB) "C:\Windows\$hf_mig$" (643 MB) "C:\Windows\ie7updates" (237 MB) "C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles" (470 MB) "C:\Windows\$NTServicePackUninstall$" (342 MB)
  8. Thanks Andavari for your answer. That is fair enough. I understand that you don't know yet if the other Windows folders are safe to clean up or how to clean them up. Ok fine. Maybe one day somebody will provide that knowledge for the benefice of CCleaner. It works well on so many windows folders already. All the best, keep us with the good work!
  9. +1 up So would not any CCleaner developer or expert answer to our request ? Happy new year to all by the way!
  10. Hi Olli, I just registered to this forum as I had the same questions than you about my windows folders "C:\Windows\Installer" (1321 MB), "C:\Windows\$hf_mig$" (643 MB) , and "C:\Windows\ie7updates" (237 MB), but also about "C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles" (470 MB) , "C:\Windows\$NTServicePackUninstall$" (342 MB) .. all those folders which are not cleaned up by the last version of CCleaner v2.15.815 and which take lot of space on the disk. I started some searches in this forum and found an answer for "C:\Windows\$hf_mig$" which should not be deleted because it does not contain uninstall data but rather backups of hotfix file versions; see the follwing topic about it : http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=4288 I read the topic about "C:\Windows\Installer" but did not find much a good answer as you... and on some friends of mine that folder can be more than 2 GB! And I did not find anything about the other folders...
