  1. I've used it a few times now, it saves a lot of hassle.
  2. Congratulations Dennis, I'm sure you will do a fine job. I also agree with q231, davey should be the next mod.
  3. I used both Ad-Aware and Spybot on an infected computer yesterday, Ad-Aware never found anything, Spybot did and supposedly removed the bad item. Scanned with AVG and that did remove the bad item. I think both Ad-Aware and Spybot have gone downhill drastically, considering they were the only ones to use at first when spyware was first making an appearance.
  4. Facebook is better and more fun.
  5. I wear glasses but refuse to wear them all the time, I think this has caused a slow down in deterioration for me, when I got my eyes tested in 2006 which was the first time since 1996, they had only got ever so slightly worse. The optician said that if my old glasses weren't so much out of fashion I could of got away without getting new ones.
  6. I don't hardly ever go on MySpace these days, but to find out if the problem was affecting me I just signed in. Sorry to say it all worked fine, probably quicker than normal actually.
  7. Woody, go the the page that is linked below and scroll down to the bit called Branding - Remove, it is about three quarters of the way down the page. I'm sure that is what you are on about and it should give the result you desire. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_b.htm
  8. Stop eating peanut butter altogether would be my advice, it would cure all the problems, but then I am biased..........I'm allergic to nuts!
  9. I would try removing the BIOS battery for a couple of hours, then put it back and check the boot sequence is how you need it, then try to carry on from there.
  10. Sorry Dennis, I only just beat you though.
  11. At the top right hand corner of a post you will see Post #1 for example. Click the #1 and that will give you the link to go straight to that post.
  12. I never saw anything about Yahoo toolbar during the installation, but I did have the option of installing the AVG toolbar, which I declined. I also had to uninstall AVG Anti-Spyware or allow the installation to uninstall it, which I thought was strange.
  13. This could be down to a few simple reasons. 1, Your installation CD has become badly damaged during those 3 years. (Highly unlikely though) 2, Your CD drive has become lazy. (This has been the case for me numerous times when installing operating systems, I use a different drive to get the OS installed then leave the bad one in as it will probably be ok for everything else) 3, One of your memory sticks has turned bad over the last 3 years. (This has been a common problem for me lately, I remove the offending stick during the install then put it back in afterwards)
  14. A monitor uses the same energy regardless of what colour pixels are displayed. Using black backgrounds as a way of promoting use of less light is just a way of getting the message across that we need to preserve energy.
  15. I did too, anything that makes life easier is a good thing. You do have to be a bit careful with it though and check your existing version of programs.
  16. Piriform members are your friends too supposedly! Might as well close the forums down to people asking for help if they are always going to be told to google. That would see a drop in revenue for Piriform due to less ad's being viewed though surely.
  17. Is there really any need for that sort of sarcasm anonymous user? Sometimes it is quicker and easier to ask on a forum of friendly members than googling.
  18. That is about how long it has been available. Old thread about it
  19. Happy Birthday Humpty, it's nearly over now I guess, I hope it was a good one.
  20. Happy Birthday DennisD, hope it's a good one.
  21. Congratulations to you and your family Humpty.
  22. Really? Are you sure you are not thinking that because the save as button is greyed out? That is quite a common problem and clicking the greyed out button will make it active and can then be clicked as normal. Although I don't think either of these answers are going to be what JP6641 is hoping for.
