  1. My second one for the month as promised.
  2. I'll be posting 2 this month, I will finish the month with a festive one.
  3. Could be due to the fact that Filehippo is a part of Piriform Corona.
  4. Haha, oh the mind boggles.
  5. Click Start, you will then see the following: Click your name or computer name which is at the top right, in this case it is Nicole. The following window will now be on display: You will find anything that you download in the Downloads folder.
  6. On Vista, downloads are saved to the downloads folder, click start, then at the top right you will see your username (computer name or however you want to refer to it), click the username, you will now see your downloads folder. Hopefully the CCleaner installation file is in there.
  7. Not been here in a while so I thought my new desktop would be a good reason to visit.

    A Sad Day...

Sorry to hear of your loss LuLu. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  9. Haha, well as always I am glad my post has been of benefit to someone. And no worries mate.
  10. You could try this: Click Start, Click Control Panel, Double Click Network Connections, Right click your wireless connection, then click properties, In the box that says "This connection uses the following items:", click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click the properties button. Make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are selected. OK your way out of all the boxes and hopefully all will be good after that.
  11. I like the simplicity and clean cut looks, but it is still early days yet.
  12. I've been using these since my days as a 95 user, like all the others have stated they are perfectly safe to use. I wouldn't want to shut down any other way now.
  13. To actually answer the question that Anthony A asked, yes it is ok to install SP3 with a patched UXtheme in SP2 without uninstalling the old one, it will just be reset to the Windows standard, so you will need an SP3 version of the patch. I posted about how to do this on my forum for newbies a while back, using the LE5 theme as an example. My thread. You might have done this already by now Anthony, but it could help others anyway.
  14. Places like MySpace anf Facebook are being made scapegoats just because of their popularity. Sure there will be exploits exposed, sure there will be scaremongers, but then they are possibly the most used sites on the web. It stands to reason that they will have problems. As with any other form of surfing, if used with caution they can be just as safe as anywhere else on the net. Bad habits lead to infections, not popular websites.
  15. I too used to ride the Woolwich Ferry a lot, mainly just for fun, just by it on the South side of the water (the side I live on) there was a cinema, quite often after coming out of the cinema we would get the ferry over to the North side then back again. Even now I will sometimes queue up to come over on the ferry rather than use one of the tunnels, even though the tunnels can be quicker and easier. But then again, I have always had a love of boats and water. I've actually never visited The Tower of London or a lot of other London attractions come to that, despite living here all my life. Trafalgar square was always a favourite though as a kid, it was nice to climb up on to the lions at the bottom of Nelsons column. How did you end up in Canada then YoKenny?
  16. I should of put more thought into it before, but I tend to be slacking with computers lately. I will try to be around more often though.
  17. hazelnut, you are a star for all the time and effort you put into helping people. davey, you are a star because you was on the right track. One of the first things that I always do on a computer is turn the indexing service off, so I knew that was not the problem. However it prompted me to fire up MSConfig and check my startups, there I found an indexing service installed by Nero, it apparently was a feature added to Nero 7. This tied in perfectly with everything because a couple of months back I was desperate to burn some CD's and Nero 7 was the quickest thing that I had to hand. So with Nero indexing service turned off now all is back to normal. Thanks for your help guys. (Hopefully people who google this problem in the future will stumble across this thread and will be as happy as I am now)
  18. No joy I'm afraid. I wish I had found out it was Cleaner causing it straight away because then I could have reverted back to an older version at the time to see if it cured it.
  19. Running XP on the computer in question. My other XP computer and Vista computers don't experience this problem. If I click OK, then try to shutdown again then the message pops back up, if I leave the computer for about 5 minutes after seeing the message then shutdown, the computer shuts down fine. No, I've not tried the user hive clean up, but I will if you think it will help.
  20. For the last few months I have been getting the above box pop up when I try to shut down after running CCleaner. It happens regardless of when I run CCleaner during any particular day, for instance I might run it immediately before shutting down, or I might run it a few hours before shutting down, either way the above box pops up. If I don't run CCleaner then the computer shuts down fine. Has anybody else experienced this? If not, then would anyone be able to think of a reason for it?

After doing a spot of colouring-in, you might want to do some spellings, that can be therapeutic too.
  22. I've always used the Startup List at Pacs Portal, just type in your Startup entry and click Search and let the website do the hard work in finding if it is listed. Startup List Edit: I should mention that as others above, I do use the Startup Lite program first, this normally just leaves a few entries to manually remove.
