  1. That's a shame that he retired from malware removal, he did a good job. That's not to say that others don't but he has helped me the most and I liked to follow his instructions. I do appreciate the need to point members elsewhere, and like you I hope that this will be rectified in the future. The spyware hell section is a good addition to the forums and it would be a shame to see it go.
  2. He was always fairly prompt at replying to topics in the spyware hell section. It is a shame that users are now told that they might be better off posting their logs on other forums.

    May desktops

Just thought I would post one for a change, having not done so for a while.
  4. I turned twice your upcoming age last Sunday. Don't really feel 44 though, I feel like I am getting younger again a lot of the time. Actually I act it too.
  5. The poppy has gone now, that seemed to be there for a couple of days it seemed. It is all about Mr Men and the Little Miss series now to celebrate Roger Hargreaves birthday. Poor bloke brought so much fun to youngsters lives but died so young.
  6. Now there's a novel idea, we'd have to learn to write with a slur though, lol. Nice to meet you Ishi, you were more than welcome to post in here, as is anyone else. I thank you for your input.
  7. Thanks Winapp, I will try to.
  8. Oh and maybe we should be charged a one off fee for the slim build being that the developers receive no income from it. I'd pay.
  9. Ok, so I can see why you guys may get a little trigger happy with the lock button when that is the case. Pinned and locked but with just enough information to say that slim builds are released a few days later than the other builds, because the developers do need to concentrate on getting the builds out that enables them to put food on the table and pay their bills. Agreed. I guess I got peeved because I saw the thread, decided to contribute about how some of us fought hard to get the slim build. Spent quite a bit of time searching for a very old topic that I could link to, and by time I got back it had been locked. Because I do seriously feel that a lot of topics are locked prematurely. This was all very informative Alan and maybe I should read the forums a bit more thoroughly before jumping in with my opinion. Very good idea. hahaha Trying to find it in there is no easy task.
  10. What the hell is going on in this forum these days? Why would a discussion such as: SEE HERE get locked? Are discussion forums not discussion forums any more? It was not heated in any way, there might of been differences of opinions, but nobody had actually got nasty. I really do not understand the way the moderators think on here these days, it seems they get a kick out of being over the top. This is one of the sole reasons that I don't post on here very often any more. What do you guys (moderators that is) do in real life, run away from discussions that are not going your way because there is no way of locking it? It is so petty minded it is beyond belief! Oh and by the way... some of us old die hards that still use the program but don't post here any more fought hard to get a slim version... SEE HERE FOR A VERY OLD THREAD You can close this topic, delete it or ban me now moderators, whatever takes your fancy. Oh by the way, this is posted in the lounge... you know the "Discuss anything... relating to anything... software or not." section.

    HP Printer

I hated my HP all in one when my wife bought it for me a couple of years back, the original install was a nightmare to say the least. If I remember correctly I stopped it and downloaded the latest version from HP website and it went ok after that. I was on XP back then though, I think all our computers were. Nowadays we are all on Vista, with the exception of a mac, and you can literally just plug and play with the all in one without installing the whole bloated software.
  12. I love this one Icedrake, just post the YouTube link in a reply, for example to do this post I just copied and pasted the link from YouTube into here which looked like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brZ88Byh544
  13. Happy Birthday Hazel, although this might be a bit late, the time on my computer is midnight.
  14. That seems to be true for anywhere in the UK nowadays. I'm the only one that ventures out the front door at midnight in my street, I guess everyone else is too busy watching fireworks.
  15. This page from Norton itself should help you: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080710133834EN
  16. Towards the bottom of this page, there is mention of Vista. That would tell me that Vista is at least partially cleanable with ATF.

    Reg BackUp

I keep mine for a week or two. It really depends on how often you use your computer and installed applications though, if you use it and them regularly then you can delete the backups regularly, but if you seldom use the computer then it might be wise to keep them a bit longer. It's basically just a case of making sure everything is working as it should be before you delete backups.

    Avast 5

This can also be achieved after installing without the need to uninstall and reinstall by going to Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista), clicking the avast entry and selecting Change.
  19. Have a look here tommy: http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/default.asp
  20. Facebook is practically my life now, whether it be on a computer or on the phone, like I have seen others say it has helped me find people from the past and definitely expanded my social life. I still look in on forums, but they don't compare to a bit of facebooking now. I never ever do the apps though, don't like total strangers being able to access my details as if they were a friend, I actually go to extreme lengths to block apps.
  21. Me too, I was gutted that I missed it last time.
  22. Happy New Year... Happy New Decade Piriformers. If the noughties weren't so good for you then lets hope the tens are.
