But maybe CCleaner takes care some other stuff that "MRU-Blaster" don't? No tool catches everything, there is always a tool that does something that another tool don't. Maybe you could put those remaining registry keys in this thread? Would be great if CCleaner was improved to catch more...

Yeah, I used that "Windows Worms Doors Cleaner". It is simple and good.

Not likely a rootkit that prevent CCleaner from working. More likely situation FUBAR. If it is really bad, then it might be worth it to format the disk and do a complete reinstall. -
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE FAN IN THE POWER SUPPLY! You need to buy a new power supply. Do not attempt to replace the fan yourself.

Very expensive... I don't think that a console should cost more than $299.

Yes, but it is not assiocated with any software on your computer.

Yeah, I agree... I dont like toolbars. They don't ring good in my ears...

I think not... But maybe you can add it to .ini file...

Maybe it is from some software that is set to autostart...

Use Firefox 1.5.0.4 and be sure it is set in Tools->Options to "Block Popup Windows". For other banners, you can use the adblock extension. Also some scan with different scanners to be sure you don't have adware on your computer, because then it can be a program that sits in the background and triggers on words then displays a popup. Use Ad-Aware, and HijackThis...

Web crawlers / spiders. Can be blocked via the Robot Exclusion Standard using a robots.txt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robots_Exclusion_Standard

You're right. Others have had problems with it. And I shouldn't claim that it is very stable since I haven't used it much. What I should have said is that it seems stable for me, so far. Now I have had some more time to use it, and it still hasn't done anything unexpected yet. Seems to work good. Yeah, you can change that, type about:config in the address bar. Now search for "browser.tabs.closeButtons", if it isn't there, then add that. If you put value "3" on it, it will act like Firefox 1.5. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.tabs.closeButtons

If it is not a HTPC (Home-Theater PC), then why use XP Media Center Edition?

boot.ini is a file used by the NTLDR bootloader. It should be present on the system partition. C: C:\boot.ini It should look something like this; [boot loader]timeout=30default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS[operating systems]multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Now that you mentioned it, I just tried it. Don't know yet how good it works or if it caused any trouble, but seemed work pretty ok. The interface wasn't so good though...

Contrary to popular belief, not everybody is after your money. Some things actually are free and some people actually want to do "The Right Thing" . Yeah, in that case I guess it could be good, because Linspire is supposedly pretty easy. But keep in mind that real Linux is different from Linspire, its different philosophy and feeling. Linspire is corporate, it works much business like. Linspire done some good things and donated to open source projects, but personally for me, its too corporate.

Or as a certain member of this forum would have recommended, C4.

I just tried Firefox 2.0 beta1. I haven't used it much yet, but it works very good so far. No crashes. It is very stable. The search function now works inside <textarea>'s. And it also has a built-in spellchecker. I don't like the new tab system with a close button on every tab, but I found a way to put it back to the classic style used in earlier versions. (using about:config)

You can play some types of media out-of-the-box with Ubuntu but not all. Example, you can play Ogg Vorbis, but you cant play MP3. The reason for this is because MP3 is a propiertary patented codec, so its not shipped with Ubuntu. However, you can easily and quickly download the MP3 (and other codecs) and install them then you can play those media. I personally wouldnt touch Linspire, because I think it lacks the Linux spirit.
